Makes me want to grow a hedge. Thankfully, I don't like gardening. 🤣 Great tip though. 👍
You can do it! Park the new 4bie behind it and pretend your off on a trek.
cheating .. the ok kind!
Thanks!
Hi Dave, great idea, just using a drain pipe as a level, so simple but a great idea. good finish on your hedge, is it a Laurel hedge. Great to see you Take care
The hedge is a plant called Photinia. This method works great for my shoulders.
I really needed this, my right shoulder is not as good as it once was. Thank You.
I'm glad to hear that this video could help! Taking care of our shoulders is so important. Wishing you a speedy recovery!
You missed a bit 😅😅
Haha.
Hi Dave, great idea as usual from the man down under
What can I say? The land of kangaroos and great ideas strikes again!
Got an even easier way, get someone else to do it
Haha, right? Why do it yourself when you can delegate? Next level life hack!
Bosch/maffel track way more advanced and less hassle to connect them straight, you don't need any sort straight edge.
Rolf Harris! Bloodygoodonyamate!!!
dave, you should also try the XL version of the step drill bit (kreg XL). does wonders for larger screw sizes.
Thanks for the tip! I may let others know as well...even with the micro drill.
This is exactly what I was looking for. thank's David great idea and really space saving.
Glad it was helpful!
You Are very good to explain All detail abort the saw i like that
I truly appreciate your feedback! It means a lot to know that my explanation resonated with you. If there's anything specific you'd like to learn more about, just let me know!
This is such an underrated channel. You showed me how to cut melamine without chipping it and now this? Thanks! Will definitely remember this.
Thanks a ton! So happy you found it useful. Stick around for more cool tips-there’s plenty more where that came from!
Great to hear you'll be at the Meetup Dave... a shirt you can hear as you read it! 🤣🤣 See you there.
I hope it is a good night for everyone.
Basically you didn't give any information that we cant get from reading off the spec sheet. You didn't answer the question in the title of the video.
But I did mention that I will be doing another video in the future about this little gem. Stay tuned, its on the way!
Hi Dave, hope your well, missed you live again, sorry. looks a good and solid bed ten times better than you buy from a furniture store. My bed sits lower than normal because my wife is shorter than me and if it was suited for me my wife would need a ladder to climb in. We got a Sealy memory foam matres, it's brilliant and comfy. I see you got your two helpers with you. Marking the sides may be put Dave's side and Vicky's side to know how to put it back together again on re assembly. As you were saying towards the end, I like all content that you make from projects that takes weeks to make and I enjoy you live videos even your short videos, at the end of the day I enjoy people in there sheds, workshops making any thing out of wood from skilled craftsmen, carpenters or just the simple DIYer who enjoys being in there workshop like what I do, I'm no skilled woodworker I just enjoy making things in my workshop. You keep making the video's and I'll keep watching them. All the best from a not to warm Wales ( 17c ) catch you soon take care
Haha, I guess your wife would need a fireman's ladder to get into bed if you made it your height! But hey, at least you’ve got a comfy mattress to land on after all that climbing!
Hi Dave, Always enjoy the woodworking videos, I’ve made a couple of beds over the years and I use 2 x 14mm and 1 x DF700 connector in each end of the side rails to connect them to the headboard and end frame, works absolutely perfect and solid as a rock. Due to the time difference, I always watch your output on CZcams, but as I say, always enjoy the woodworking stuff. Best wishes, Philip
Hey Philip! Thanks for tuning in all the way from wherever time zones exist! Glad to hear your beds are rock solid! Keep building cool stuff! I haven't sent the money on the 700 connectors...maybe I will?
Dave, I think the dogs have spoken.... they are claiming the bed for them selves......
You may have a point.
Great show as all ways Dave. I never fail to learn something or be reminded of something I'd forgotten about with every video. Thanks so much for all the effort you put in and the knowledge you share with us.Cheers mate
Thanks Sam!
You can change your collar to a two piece clamping collar to avoid using the set screw
That's a great suggestion! Two-piece clamping collars can definitely simplify the process and improve functionality. Thanks for sharing!
Great tip Dave!
Thanks! I try to share tips as good as my mum’s secret cookie recipe-always a hit!
Don't worry Dave!...I will continue to follow your knowledgeable channel....no matter how long or short snippets. Cheers as long as everyone is healthy.
Thanks Dominic,!
I use my Kreg drill bit for dowels also. 3/8 here in the states
That's awesome! Kreg drill bits are so versatile, and they really make doweling a breeze. How's your experience been with them?
That is a handy cheat step...bit😅😅
Right? Those little hacks can really save the day! Glad you liked it!
Arn't you a clever young fella? Good tip Dave.
@WayneT51 thanks Wayne!
Mind blown 🤯🤯🤯🤯
Haha, thanks!
They make a set of drills with the counter bore on them for different sizes, have tapered bit for screw. For larger ones you can get Forstner bits and use interchangeable tapered drill bits set to depth. For very large washers you are stuck using counterboars. 2 to 3 inches. With the stepped bit you are limited to the one length and you could run into trouble with hard woods.
Interesting info. But for the average person they can use this drill they probably already have in their kit and also can stop short of breaking through and complete the clearance hole with a 4 mm drill bit that pen makers usually have. No need for expense.
Why have I not thought of this? Great tip!
Sometimes the simplest ideas are right in front of us! I'm glad you found the tip helpful!
@@DavidStanton thanks Dave, keep them coming.
Nice video Dave. I love how you drove home that screw and then immediately reached round with your finger to see if it went through. I do that every time. I'm not sure why - just to allow me to beat myself up sooner if I get it wrong I guess!
It’s like a game of “Will it or won’t it?”-the suspense is half the fun! But hey, at least you’re prepared for the worst!
Kreg even has the Quick Flip designed for fairly similar use, nice idea!
Cool, thanks!
GREAT tip. Please make some more of these short videos.
More short videos coming right up! I promise they won't be so short that you have to blink twice to catch the whole point!
Great tip David, hope your well mate
Thanks, mate! I’m doing awesome, hope you are too! Keep an eye out for more tips!
My woodwork has always been VERY basic. However I did custom build a Double bed Frame, then later a King. But I have never owned or even tried a Pocket hole jig. I have used a countersunk (or deeply pocketed) screw connection - by using two drills and depth stops.
It's awesome to hear about your bed frame projects! Pocket hole jigs can really simplify the process, but your method sounds like a great way to get the job done too. Keep up the fantastic work!
why had I never thought of doing this before instead of double-drilling? Top tip, thanks David!
Sometimes it takes a lightbulb moment to realize that less is more! Here's to smarter drilling techniques!
that has to be tip of the month
If this tip had a crown, it would definitely be reigning supreme this month!
Hi Dave! Greetings from Ohio! Wondered if you've tried Titebond's melamine glue. I don’t know if it was sold when you made these particular videos. You think it would be overkill to use the melamine glue along with the pocket hole screws? Thx!
Hi there! Yes, Titebond's melamine glue is a great product. Using it alongside pocket hole screws and a light scuff sand with 120 grit paper can add extra strength, so as long as you're okay with that, it should work well!
Hi Dave, I was watching this video and you look Italian with pony tail than Australian, here in uk we don't like keeping pony tail
Who knew my ponytail was an international style statement? Maybe I should start a trend in the UK!
Informative, thank you.
I'm glad you found it informative! Thanks for watching!
loved the bullwinkle reference
Ah, a fellow Bullwinkle fan! Now we just need Rocky to join our CZcams adventure!
@@DavidStanton I will see if I can find him
Hi Dave, sorry I missed you live, we were away for a few days at an airshow, watching a brilliant air display from the Red Arrows, Spitfire, Lancaster Bomber, Mustang, Eurofighter and by plane wing walkers. plus other airplanes. Hope you and your family are well, It's looking good the bed end cant wait to see how you get on, hope to catch you live next time, as always a great video Take care
Hi Shaun. Air shows are invigorating and nostalgic at the same time. The bed has progressed well since the show. Trying to get time to work on it.
That's looking great Dave! I'm using those panels to make new doors at home. Before covid the doors were $180ish from Bunnings, now they are $350. I can use those panels for the rails and stiles with MDF centres for about $120 a door.
Sounds like you're turning those panels into a real “door-ganization” masterpiece!
@@DavidStanton haha yep
@ 51:00 is why I have chosen the corded life. I just can't be a slave to chasing charged batteries. If I happen to be at a job with no electricity I have a generator although it's not likely. I have the usual suspects in cordless but that's it. Love your work. Haven't been able to tune in for a long while due to life but, enjoying this..
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Glad to hear you’re enjoying the content!
9 years later , your video has helped me with a cabinet build. thank you.
I'm so glad to hear that my video helped you with your cabinet build! It's amazing how time flies, and it's great to see that the information is still useful after all these years.
Hi Dave. Its SO easy too work from a plan but the really hard thing is trying too work out the engineering in your head as you go. GREAT show as always and l love that we get to see mistakes and the fixes. Thanks so much for all the time you put in..Cheers mate
Agree on seeing the mistakes. Luckily for Dave they don't become actual mistakes that need rework. I do a decent amount of finish carpentry and oddball woodworking projects ( I am a painter though) and get hassled a bit by idiots because of how much I label and mark parts of things so I do not make big mistakes. Gives me time for all of my other small mistakes. All painting grade work and I do know how to hide those. Been doing it for people doing carpentry for 40 years .
Thank you so much for your kind words! I truly appreciate your support and I’m glad you enjoy seeing both the mistakes and the fixes. It makes all the effort worthwhile!
Filing that looks so cumbersom
Do any if the versions work with the Milwaukee track?
Hi David, Love your channel mate. Just curious to know the details of this slow speed grinder. Do you swap out the wheel for different grades, or is this just for finishing?
Thanks Guy! I don't wap the wheel but it has a grading stone that either roughs it up a bit or smoothes it down a bit.
I'm looking to get into the festool world as I'm renovating a new home and workshop. Can you use the 500 as a regular domino machine and for making wardrobes, kitchen cabinets and a queen size bed? Or do you need 2 different machines one for cabinetry and the other for regular projects
The 500 will do most of what you require and even the bed. The 700 is for large joinery projects like entrance doors that require a lot more strength in the joints.
@@DavidStanton thank you David that makes decision making much more easy to know one tool can do it all 😀
Nib is there so you see the end and know when to pull back thus using the entire saw tooth surface front to back and even ware.
Great point! The nib really does help with precision and ensures you can make full use of the saw tooth surface. Thanks for sharing your insights!
THANK YOU!!! I got the KSC 60 and haven't found a SINGLE video which shows details of leveling! You are the BEST.
