My BMW 335i Left Me STRANDED
The 335i decided to drain all of its coolant..
I’m just glad it happened in front of my house!
This pesky hose needs replacement, as the rubber gets brittle over time, and will simply snap away from the connector.

    I’m looking to trade in my 23’ A4 for a b9/b9.5 S4, they are at a STEAL right now. The ones I’m looking at have 20-60k miles, before this video I was skeptical on the mileage but after hearing your perspective it has gave me much more confidence. Great video ! With the sport package how’s the diff on corners? Have you tried power sliding?

    • @BrandonFinleyx
      @BrandonFinleyx Před 4 dny

      Get a B9.5 if possible, the early B9 had some issues to work out. My infotainment kept shutting off mid drive, and my engine was making an awful sound like the rocker arms. I traded it in at 86k. But it was an awesome vehicle, I’d recommend a B9.5 if possible.

    When you were saying high mileage, I was thinking 100-150k, not 80k. I would sure hope a car with only 80k miles would still be pretty decent.

    Thats the thing about audi they rust… the 340i g20 doesn’t rust.. take a look at any bmw after the e generation, they dont rust. My friends 2014 435i that has 110k miles has no rust. But audi design and look is way better than bimmer. Not to mention the ride is smooth. The bmw feels like a tank and almost entices you to speed. I prefer the audi for daily but unfortunately I talked with techs and they told me the 340i is more reliable than the c43 and s4. So ill probably go for the 340

      I got rid of my 2018 S4 shortly after this video believe it or not. 83k Miles and it developed a ticking knocking under load that could not be pinpointed. After I got rid of mine, MANY 2018s and 2019s in the community had catastrophic failure. It's a tossup, because by 148k miles, it should've blown, and if it hasn't that may be a good sign. It also could mean impending doom. My key takeaway from my ownership and experience with other members, don't buy an 18 or a 19.

    I just turned 100k on my '18 S5 and it's been absolutely bulletproof, but then I stay on top of maintenance and change the oil every 5k with Liquimoly. I've driven it from the West Coast to Denver and back 5 times, including the southern route and a blizzard in Santa Fe, and it's been great. Also have a B8.5 with just over 100k and it's been bulletproof as well, again because of maintenance. Also, if you have a B9, do yourself a favor and pick up a transmission pan and some ZF8. Audi says lifetime fill, ZF told me around 65k to 70k and I followed their advice. It's a bit of a pain, you need to pull the transmission mount frame and support the rear at the driveshaft flange, but the peace of mind is worth the effort...and you can pop in an 034 insert at the same time. The only issue I've had on the B9 is the rockers, had them replaced at about 60k because one had failed. Turns out there's a center pin hardening issue, at least on mine, in some of the production run. Don't know who makes the rockers, but I have 40k on the new set and they seem fine. I also don't know if I have the rockers with the big rollers or the original small needles, again if I have to replace them it'll be a good opportunity to refresh everything else. The only thing I dislike about the car is the cupholders....whoever decided that was a good place for them should have to clean every MMI that has a spill on it.

      So one thing about your video is that this is a daily driver (pragmatic sports sedan.) Unlike others who have multiple sports cars /sedans, or older B5/6/7 and are wrenching them regularly, this is a different take. I had always wanted B5 but not being a mechanic maybe 2010+ A4 while slowly adding features. Being in the car industry can keep eyes open for good deals. The idea others mentioned of having a video of maintenance costs on a more modern Audi would be interesting.

      @@brg1708 I'd be happy to make a maintenance cost video! If you're going to go for an A4 2013+ is what I recommend to get around the piston ring/oil consumption issues of the first generation of the B8. The B9 A4's are a great platform as well!

    • @brg1708
      @brg1708 Před rokem

      Thanks. Thanks for advice. Again, your video turned my long time thinking on its head. Wait longer, get newer. I have heard of the 2010 oil consumption /valves issues. Maybe waiting for the 13+ is better, especially if I can get a warranty. I am 55 so having to have "side project" wouldn't be practical as I am also trying to save for other things. In addition, my I have a commute, which an A4 would make more enjoyable, and the horsepower would be more than enough, even compared with older S4s. I come from a problem free '06 Toyota Highlander, which is soon to be paid off. Before I had two vehicles in 3 years that I had to repair regularly, so the peace of mind is worth it. But my credit is better so maybe I can pull it off. I am frugal so the struggle is real, but you only live once. Look foward to new videos. The maintenance/cost video would be good, how you found trusted mechanics and compare / contrast to other cars you have had would be interesting. I should add, when I sold Audis in 2017 I LOVED the A4( cabin, features, drive, everything)and I got to drive most of the vehicles except the R8. I am 6' 3" 270lbs with long legs so I am not interested in small vehicles.
