LONDON NEW YEARS DAY WALK | Tower Bridge & Shad Thames
Great video really enjoyable watching this, thank you. I used to row on the river Medway when I was in scouts and have very fond memories.
I lived at 50 Pembury Road, Tonbridge from 1954 to 1965 when my parents emigrated to Sydney, Australia. Our home was a police supplied home one of I believe 4 in a row, my Dad was a motor cycle policemen. I went to St Stephen’s infant school then St Stephen’s Primary school and finally Tonbridge County Secondary School for boys. I was also in the Tonbridge sea scouts and sea cadets, miss the place even though I now live in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney.
I LOVE PADDOCK WOOD!
I can smell the piss from here lol.
We have been to Leysdown on Sea a few times but I don’t remember all that greenery and certainly has changed when we went down there the toilets were down by the sea
I took the train from Maidstone to Ramsgate in 1962 with my father to start 7 years at St. Augustines, Grange Road. I know every detail of the road, including Lavins sweet shop on the corner.
Good morning from London uk ..Hope you have fun ..god bless take care...
Inspiring. I might walk it next Wednesday evening.
Enjoy some spectacular views from Mount Tiede National Park in Tenerife along with some chill music from Karl Casey @ White Bat Audio

It's more beautiful than Tunbridge Wells
Lived in canal road, early 20's, housing association called crescent house.. awful place, loud, anti social neighbours.. best thing was the girls and the view of the river.. eventually you kinda grew into vibe of loud music, drinking and weed, because 99% of the time, thats all it was.. To old for that now😅 Do miss it a little I suppose, if I was 20 again I'd love it.

That was very interesting--- and such crisp, clear images. Once you got to St Margarets I knew exactly where we were... carrying on with "you" we were retracing our exact route in reverse ..... adding another few mins walk over the railway line... back to where my wife and I stayed a couple of days with her relations.who had previously visited NZ. I was pleased to see that the "Railway" is up and running and looking very well kept. In Aug 29016 it looked like another dead pub,,, joining the closed establishments. Alas,,, time and $$ to blame... I'll never visit that Tesco's again :-)....
Coming Soon
Thank you for this useful video
Nice video be interesting for people years from now to remember what shops were there , already the first floor is empty apart from Jessies cafe so who knows what it be like in the future.
This was filmed a few years ago during the Covid restrictions, so a few shops have shut down or opened already. I may go back in the next few months to do another video.
Great. Thank you
walked along there so many times on way to betting shop
Went night fishing on the beach in Deal 40 years ago. About 1030pm my mate said there's a pub behind us, lets secure our rods and have quickie before they close. Little did we know this pub was known for lock-ins. Yep, we stayed till 1.30 and came out blotto. Not only did we not catch a thing we forgot where we left the rods. Nice town though.
Avoid Chatham High street at all cost. Three men attempted to mug me at ten o’clock one Tuesday morning. I was saved by a bank worker who saw it happening.
London Overground Class 710
I was a lifeguard there in younger days love broadstairs
There was a fish restaurant at the start of the pier years ago, i did the painting and decorating there,,had my sandwiches on the stones every lunch break, ,,was nice,,
My wife me and our 3 children spent many happy hours here. We used the coffee shop where you took a right at the bottom of the hill to get to it. We used it so often the owner got to know us . One day he told us he had such a good day that all our coffe and refills were free. Our kids used to jump in the sea they should not have done but they were good swimmers. I really loved your walk so many places we had been . Thank you VERY much.
Thanks for the comment, I’m glad you liked the video.
Nice video.
Thanks
Just what I needed going to using the London underground for the second time in my life in a few weeks.
Thank you so much! I enjoyed your walk very much. Deal is a wonderful little town. We spent two summer weeks there a few years ago and I would love to be there again some time.
I’m glad you liked the video, it was filmed last year and hopefully I’ll be going back this summer.
Does anyone remember where the convent school was ?
Great vidio thankyou as always, as used to shop regular at Sainsburys as it was easy to park under ground . Looking good still after all these years , fantastic so many memories of Hempstead with an Uncle who sold his small holding when they built the main approach road to the out of town shopping centre . thankyou once again.

Forgive me for getting political. But I walk through towns in Medway - Strood, Gillingham and Chatham for eg. I saw more and more non white people. I hope medway won't go the same way as cities like London.
