You're right in all your analysis and looking at the roads in Awka my take is that Awka is lacking behind in what a state capital should be road wise at this age government should be thinking of how to dualize all our major roads but nothing seems to be happening

This is the problem with african leaders both the contractors always inflicting stress and hardship on their people.. Instaed of working the road and give a good face they just work it anyhow because we are african precisely from nigeria and down to SE .. White man wont let such happen because he consider to less the burden for their people and give an enable environment our own is the opposite stess and suffering the people tufiakwa

When i look how roads are being built in all African countries,and i look at what soludo is doing ,there is a great gap. Why can govt clear all the shanties and interlock it as a walk ways straight down to unizik gate.. Why cant anambra get it right for ones. Why can anambra introduce road sweeping 🧹 . Am yet to see one single road in entire anambra that is sand free .

There's an opportunity for Anambra State and the civil engineering contractors to do something very unique with this particular project. It will not cost much, but will create accessibility and beautify the environment as well. But I doubt if they have it figured into the construction work. I know Governor Soludo will definitely incorporate the design if pointed out to him because he is arguably the most progressive Governor in the history of Anambra State.

Stop calling it ifite road there are many ifite out there

I'm embarrassed at how dirty the so called newly constructed roads are. To checkmate this, any new road constructed, properties around there need to be mandated to properly finish their frontage. All adjoining streets to newly constructed should be tarred to some some meters and drainage to properly collect water and then the roads need to be swept. Tufia

@chinedu ,the reason for open drainage systems in virtually all the roads in anambra is govt inability to maintain and clear our drainage systems in d state. This is very poor . Soludo is doing his best,but very poor in environmental management. In as much as ur building roads try to map out mechanisms to maintain the roads. The annoying part of anambra state roads is no road that is free from red sand.

After watching this ifite road,i concluded that anambra state has a very terrible environment. Shanties and sand everywhere,even all the newly constructed drainage systems are filled with sand and grasses . Shame to anambra state. Very poor environment.. Why cant govt ban shanties in entire anambra state. This is too poor , honestly.

Good point.. But am yet to understand the idea for concrete work on this terminal. It should be something like anambra airport terminal or like that of oshodi. Concerning the size,i think ekwuluobia is not a big city like awka or onitsha. Is can serve as its now.. What we need in state is law and order..it can serve very well. If there is law in place on how to park cars on the road ,not what am hearing thay cars are not allowed to claimed the walk ways,whereas the standard all over the world is that 2leg must climb up the walk wat while the remaining 2 down the road .

Too many shanties calked shops

As earlier pointed out, this looks more like a bus park than a bus terminal or interchange. First of all the location is not ideal. It is just by the flyover and there might be serious traffic congestion without proper parking and commercial laws in place. This may be counterproductive. All in all though, the governor has tried on this project, Anambra needs bigger and wider roads and it is a welcome development. Our major inter city connecting roads should be dualised and I hope this will open the door for other dualisation projects to come.

But am yet to understand the plan for this bus terminal.. Am seeing this as a bus park.and not terminal. The bus terminal should be like anambra airport terminal..why using concrete ,block work.

Chinedu please go to the authority and ask them about this drainage issue and let us know why they prefer open drainage than under ground drainage, I believe it is an engineering concern.

The open drainage that is commonplace in Nigeria is as a result of lack of courage on the part of the various tiers of government to control how we exploit our water resources . Our cities don't have water treatment facilities , and that is why isn't it common to find underground drainage channels criss-crossing our cities .New estates spring up every now and then with out proper planning regarding the drainage issues confronting those estates. People sink bore holes everywhere with reckless abandon ,and in future such unregulated deplation of the underground water resources might lead to the popping up of sinkholes here and there in the affected areas .

If i enter govt today, I'd stop collecting taxes from transport workers, I'll use tolling to get the money! Tolling helps to maintain and build more roads

Such a big slab for a road that small... They should be managing space.

i was thinking its due to fund that they aren't covering the gutters but if they are doing walkways then it shouldn't be lack of funds. Also the walkway should be done at the other side which may be better so it doesn't make the road look small.

In developing countries open drainages are easy to desilt and maintain by all and sundry. Closed channels are good where governments have permanent skilled maintenance officials. Let people leave Soludo to continue his good works.

Open drainages can never make our city neat no matter the quality of the road. Some areas need gutter to be closed or cover.

Give Anambra more 2yrs and see how changes will take place during construction everywhere normally looks tattered but when completed the story changes.i wish Anambra people good luck,this is operation all the Igbo lands must be developed by force.

My observation almost all the buildings marked for demolition were not demolished. Is there any reason why it is so? Moreover, the drainage is too close to the road. They would have made use of the land space and extended it inside instead. Underneath the flyover should be a roundabout to direct the traffic from different directions. Otherwise, it's going to be chaotic if there's no roundabout.

The Minister of Works should see this road.

Well for me, the slab construction used un dividing the road is wide on a very narrow road especially close to the second turning point at orton junction Ekwulobia. Just last week a very long trailer tried turning at that point and destroyed some part of it.

Toll is not my problem with this road. My problem with this road the narrow aspect of the road. I thought soludo would have do this road 6Lane dual carriageway. But what am seeing here is nothing but 4lane dual road with may be 150m lay by.

Toll is good.. only if the road can be maintained and sweep regularly. Cos i knw anambra state. State where a newly constructed roads turn to be like a farm road 🛣️ after 1months of construction. pH street onitsha is a case study.and many more.
