Yes, the only buttons that usually don't work after a system like this is installed would be the Bluetooth call buttons if you've got those, generally they're only linked directly to the original head unit.

Yes, I'd imagine you've probably got a newer Mercedes if this is the case, with the NTG 5.0 we usually supply a USB to AUX adaptor as this is usually the case, then you just need to select the correct media interface, it will even recognise that there is a USB/AUX connected underneath the little picture it shows on the media section of the head unit

You will have to download the application using a third party application such as a downloader app, as depending on the version of the item you've got, there may be a block on certain applications via the PlayStore, but there is always a way to get it on there, just have to do some research on how to use a downloader application and install third party apps to the system

Ok, so in ascending order, - No it can be wired or connected via Bluetooth -A SIM card isn't necessary, it can be connected to a Mobile Hotspot, although a SIM is convenient -The buttons can be customised in the back-end settings to match up with the buttons you had originally -This would be the latest model we've got for it, there are two ranges, the HV and the GMV, the GMV is the newer version although personally, I prefer the HV style UI over the GMV version, -The system does use the car's AUX for audio through anything on the new Android OS Side of the system, and can be changed to go back to the original DAB or Radio or whatever, but would always need to be set to AUX to get audio out the Android OS. It would be Canbus related, possibly check to see if you've been provided the correct one, or one at all, if not you can go and get a new Canbus box from the supplier, or source one from a website like Connects2

Yes, the only ones we can't guarantee would be the phone buttons if you've got them, because usually these buttons are linked directly to the car's original Bluetooth, which becomes inoperative after the installation

I would need to see some pictures of your car's dash to confirm if you had NTG 4.5 or 5.0 and you should be able to use a USB to AUX adaptor with the system to get audio working

Not the original DAB, you'd need to add either a DAB module or install a DAB radio app using data from either a hotspot or a SIM card, or if you've gonna use CarPlay or Android Auto, you can install a DAB radio app onto your phone and that will work also.

To me, that would indicate it's been wired in a way where, the camera is always receiving power, meaning the car's head unit is displaying the camera, even when it's not wired to the reverse detect, it's just taking power regardless, I'd probably check on the wiring, is it an aftermarket camera that has been installed?

On the Android OS Side of the system yes, you can also go back to the original DAB using the original menu, either the bosch or the harman kardon menu, if you wanted to listen to the original DAB in the car

So the system price varies depending on the spec, but the installation would be £130 irrespective of what version of the system you went for, the system ranges from £269.99 to £394.99 depending on the spec you were to choose

It would most likely be in the factory settings of the unit, if not you'd need to have a mess around with the location mic also, but first thing I'd check on would be inside the factory settings menu, that and ensure any echo cancellation is switched on on the unit.

For anything on the Android OS, not the CarPlay or Android Auto, yes you'd either nee to hotspot the unit, or install a SIM card if the unit allows for it to watch Netflix or anything like that which would need an internet connection on the operating system side of the unit

They are still usable, although they don't interact with the new radio in any format, they would just charge the phone, you get 2x new USB's out the back of the unit that do interact with the system, which are usually installed into the Glove Box

Thanks mate, appreciate the reply. Does the system screen save once I've turned the car off or would I need to switch it to android auto (from the default audi mmi) every time I turn the car on?

The system doesn't fully power down until the car has been locked for a little bit, even when the key is out, this is because if you stalled the car, it would do a hard re-boot each time, so to save the unit, it doesn't switch off fully until the car doors are locked for a bit, that and there is a screen off if you just wanted to have the screen off, but still music etc coming through the system

Glad to hear you got it resolved, it can be tricky when you DIY or get it installed somewhere and they don't explain good practise when it comes to using a system like this, with the CarPlay not transferring all your apps like Netflix or CZcams, there is the odd occasion where people believe they will work through the CarPlay, but it's not possible on any variation of the app to do so, you've got to go through the OS of a unit for anything video related, cheers

You can hotspot the unit to give it an internet connection, you can Bluetooth to it, or you can use CarPlay or Android Auto via Bluetooth on some versions of the system

You can use Apple CarPlay on the system, the operating system is an Android based OS, but that doesn't mean to say you can Bluetooth an Apple Phone to the new system, or use Apple CarPlay on it either

Yes, that and the Buick and the Holden also if you're American or Aussie, the Eco button has a slot for either LHD or RHD, so there's no worries there

It does depend on the NTG version usually 5.0 have USB's and would need an adaptor, with the 4.5 and 4.7 you can get away if you've had AUX coded/activated in the car

IF you've got a USB you can use a USB to AUX adaptor possibly, if not it would need to be coded in, you might also possibly have an AMI port, which can also use an adaptor for AUX, although it is a bit rarer

It can do, only buttons that can't work with the new android side, which we can't guarantee would be the bluetooth call buttons

It's asking for your identity, I'm not too sure what you mean, usually if you're connecting to a Hotspot it will ask for some sort of password which can be viewed on the device which is hot spotting, the only other thing I can think of is if you're pressing the new connection option, and it's asking for something like a MAC address or are connecting to the wrong internet source, which has some sort of intranet or login required for access

Yes, although it is ill-advised, I can't say I've heard of MX player through so I couldn't comment on that I'm afraid

Are you referring to the smaller side panel which shows extra information when you go back to original menu, if so these can be changed in the factory settings menu I believe

It sounds like it could be a defective unit, or possibly an issue with the wiring, you will probably have to report this to the seller you've purchased it from for either technical assistance or possibly a return/swap/refund
