People misunderstand this so wilfully, it's sickening. This isn't a badass speech, it's deranged and pathetic. He thinks he is hot shit, yet he would've straight up *died* without intervention from Gus. And all he lets his wife know with this little speech is that he has discarded all morals. This is the speech of a small man vastly overestimating his importance while not caring a wit about the lives of others, presenting it as something to aspire to.

Everyone hates Skyler because she flip flops on helping Walter, but did she really have a choice? At first she thought he was cheating, but when she found out the truth, she was angry but still wanted to help to keep their family. After this moment, he completely went off the fucking rails and she realized that there was no helping him. The Walter she knew was gone.
