Films are all woke diversity nowadays. This is gritty.

Haven't watched but I get the drift. Director Stephen Frears shot "Bloody Kids" shown in 1980, brilliant acting by two 10 Yr olds . Was the precursor to this film one thinks 🤔🤔 ! and I think way underestimated. Shot in 1979 and I was mesmorised, me and my mates were riding lambretta's about when we were 11. And in the 1980's I once glanced over my shoulder to see a couple of little kids driving a Ford Transit in third lane of the N. Circular, in London, and you would not have guessed, so good was their driving. Some kids that age have it them to be airline pilots believe me, good at football is nothing to the other stuff they can do, if only they are not held back, we saw everything, everything back then and could spot the loopholes and craziness of the world. But no one knew what we knew, for we were just Kids with no perception of anything. If you're parents can't afford to pay for your gocarting you're never going to be a legitimate F1 racing driver. So what do you do?.......you break the law. You want to show the world you can do so, so much more. Then get locked up for it, just for being human, like all the other sinners. Everyone's a sinner from London to Bangkok.

If you ever look into this movement its about societal alienation but it's really all over the place, apolitical, far left, far right, black members, racially motivated attacks, anti racism, antifa elements, in the early days it seems to be in defiance of hippy culture but its also somewhat jamaican working class meets british working class.

If you like this film you should check out an album called "Council Estate of Mind" by Skinnyman. It samples dialogue from the film and uses it as interludes to tie the tracks on the album together. It's an absolute masterpiece of British counterculture just like Made In Britain.

What I find interesting watching this in 2024, is how relentless and determined Trevor had to be in order to fall through the cracks. There used to be funding for the social safety net. Young people are stupid and impulsive and those that don’t have a good start in life can easily go off the rails - but we used to put in real time and effort to get them back. The superintendent character doesn’t exist now. The one who almost got through to him. The equivalent today is moonlighting as a support worker to supplement the crap wages from his teaching job and pay back his tuition. He’s tired and poorly trained; he has all manner of meaningless forms to fill out and he doesn’t give two shits for some fist-waving teenager who should be in school. The way things are now, you don’t need to be Trevor to find yourself abandoned and hopeless. A few bad decisions can break you.

Bon film avec un acteur que j'apprécie beaucoup dans certains films comme Little Odessa, Réservoir Dog par exemple. Tim a une façon d'être cool, calme et anxieux en même temps dans certains rôle.
