Anthony's Stablemates (the OG Vehicle Hunter)
Registrace 14. 12. 2014
I love vehicles, buying them , driving them , having others fix/maintain them, documenting my interaction with them, and usually rehoming them with someone who can love them better than I can. I came of age as a driver in the late 80's/early 90's, a golden age for Japanese cars. I spent an inordinate amount of time reading my friend's Dad's automotive magazines, which were in their heyday. We were knee deep in the pages of Car and Driver, Road and Track, Motor Trend (in that order) and occasionally a Consumer Reports Buying guide. This explains why I gravitate toward Japanese vehicles of the era. Acura was created and launched the Integra and Legend. Lexus was born as Toyota's luxury brand. The LS400 put the European automakers on notice that Lexus was now a contender and quite possibly the new benchmark for luxury sedans. Nissan was hitting it's high point with the BMW 3 series knockoff Sentra SE-R. It's Maxima (4DSC-4 door sports car) was one of the sexiest sedans around.

Year 2000 Toyota RAV4, my next fixer upper
zhlédnutí 79Před 14 dny
This year 2000 Toyota RAV4 has been owned by a fine young gentleman in Washington DC. He is ready to move on from the vehicle, but wants to make sure it goes to a good home. He has faith that I am the guy who can help make sure that that happens. I think his faith is properly placed in me and will do my best to get this car back to its glory and find it the perfect new owner.

I picked this vehicle up from a nice family in Bethesda Maryland, had become a bench sitter for their family. It’s a Toyota with only 117,000 miles on it so with some proper care and maintenance it should have another hundred thousand miles plus of service to give.
Second generation Prius - 2004 Toyota Prius with 300k plus miles
zhlédnutí 747Před měsícem
The second generation of Toyota Prius was from 2004 to 2009 and has earned a reputation for longevity when they are cared for appropriately. This particular example has 307,000 miles on it and it’s still running quite well.. It still looks good too.

I just picked up this 2008 Toyota Solara SLE convertible from a neighbor. It belong to an elderly person in Florida who aged out of driving. It was recently brought up to Maryland where I spotted it in my neighbors driveway. I texted to say “what’s the deal with that convertible in your driveway? If it’s up for sale, let me know.” And that’s how I got it. So let this be your reminder that you...

I’ve had my silver ‘08 convertible for several years. I bought it used with 65k miles and it now has 130k. All I’ve done to it is the timing belt and it runs great. It’s always been garaged so no interior cracking issues. Two rear seats because it’s narrower to make room for the top mechanism. You got a great deal and the tan top is the factory color and looks great.
My 2008 Solara has 59463 miles, I love it!
Put me on the call list for when you sell it
I’ll take it
I’m sorry, you’re about two weeks late.
Anthony, do you happen to know where the acquired the 10 top? I have the same and could really use that information they seem kind of hard to find!
Business on a handshake between two trustworthy fellas. Love it! Anthony I found one of your red flyers on my car today which is how I found your channel! New local subscriber here 🙂
Hey, welcome, thanks so much for following! Feel free to check in if you ever need anything. You can follow me on Facebook also at Anthony's Stablemates.
Congrats on the find. Love my 08 solara fully optioned I scored off the first owner at 120k. It had been garaged and well maintained no dash cracks. I put in a Sony Apple car play unit with a backup camera. Everything works and I’m getting ready to do the timing belt as while the prior owner said it was done I can’t confirm and don’t want to gamble. I did the rear struts (leaking) and all the tires. I’m getting ready to pull the trigger on a 2011 Lexus IS 350c. Be nice to have two convertibles, let the wife take over the solara. Can’t wait to have a rear wheel drive coupe again.
Nice! Check me out on Facebook under Anthony’s Stablemates. I’m going to post up my timing belt job receipt.
Mines going in next week. Doing the water pump at the same time as it’s hard to get to might as well do it now. I think Toyota sells them together as a kit.
You have left a note on the wind shield of my car, VW GTI 2003.
Glad you found me here! Give me a call if you want to sell now or in the future.
I have a standard 2006 box with ~210k miles on it still going strong. I've only recently started modding it. The most surprisingly effective mod I've made was adding a simple Megan Racing tower strut brace. It's amazing what a difference it made to the handling. It's quite cheap too if you can install it yourself. Unfortunately, I couldn't do it myself. But I love my box car. I hope it lasts another couple years at least...
I have a chance to buy the same car , same color, for $7k. 120,000 miles What do you think?
It depends on how much you’d have to put into it. Mine had a brand new $2500 top. But I still had to pay $1100 for 4 new tires and sensors, $300 for a new windshield, and I’m about to drop another grand on the timing belt/water pump service which is due around 100k miles. If yours is up to date on all service and doesn’t need anything that’s a good deal. If you’re not sure how much you’d have to put into it, have a pre purchase inspection and get a good idea. The actual cost to you is not just how much you will pay for the car but how much it will cost to get you ready for the next 100,000 miles.
@@anthonyschreiber I’m assuming nothing at that price. But she’s the original owner and has all the service records. I can go to a used car lot that has an 06 with same miles for $5k, but I don’t trust used car salesman, and that ones had 3 owners.
@@anthonyschreiber very true statement. Sadly I was on the wrong end with a 94k '08 Solara SLE for my daughter. Tires/Sensors, Brakes, Timing Belt kit, Top, and the really bad news, CVs/Rack/Struts. Oh and the digital climate control module had to be replaced. There other little bits & bobs. I have surpassed the car's 7k cost by a bit. Though the body/engine/trans checked out in superb shape. All the things I replaced at the last few weeks, I argue would have needed attention in the next few years anyways but now its done. I've done a lot of eBay, various Toyota Online sites, even local Pick-N-Pull. Some install myself, while others by a shop.

Oh, I was hoping for a rebuild.
Keep it in great shape love the car!!
Great shapeee love this rs 1.0! It’s just missing one of the RS parts! The special RS 1.0 sport metal grille
I have it in the garage!
What exactly is the problem - it might be an easy fix! It might be a case of just swapping the inverter out!
What would you sell it for?
I sold it for $15k
Geez la weez the market is crazy!@@anthonyschreiber
Decided that figure yet? 👀
If anything it’ll be one of the auction sites
I got the $15k offer I was after.

Mine threw the code for transmission similar miles and it was just the hybrid battery.
It threw hybrid battery, Abs actuator, transmission failure, my mechanic said junk it. I had it towed to a hybrid only shop and they said the transmission never really fails. That was at 200k. It’s been 60k and I’m at 260k since I replaced the battery and the transmission is original
Nice Xb low miles. I use to own the first yellow Xb in the US. czcams.com/video/fqfozfiSwM8/video.htmlsi=sH2CqfUHlBc1lIfD

That camper with the fifth wheel hitch!
I’ve had a couple of these fiberglass campers pass through my hands in the last few years. They are awesome. I have a 16 foot Casita at my Homestead right now that I just got back from a camping trip with.
