I just noticed your name. Is the Zoom from Stick and Rudder's "law of the roller coaster?" Without zoom reserve, kinetic energy, don't pull on the elevator. Use potential energy of altitude, dynamic neutral stability, to make 1 g turns at any bank angle (don't pull on the elevator.) On that 1,300 runway takeoff, Wolfgang would want us to still be at level and 2' AGL at the end of the runway with zoom reserve energy. Yes, he said try to hit the tree and then zoom over, but no tree to just clear so save all that good airspeed. Airspeed, not just enough altitude to kill us, is life down low. Again, good job.
Good job with power/pitch deceleration (slow enough to sink to so dynamic throttle for glide angle, elevator for deceleration) to eliminate need to round out which results in float in hold off. While headwind will provide free relative wind and allow even further ground speed reduction, watch for sink under the line of wind stream like water as the wind comes off the mesa. Of course sink is good to bring the throttle into dynamic play for exact glide angle and rate of descent. We just don't want more sink than throttle. Prop blast is part of what makes the power/pitch approach the best short field approach. It works with the steep glide angle as well, over trees or to be above the declination line (line of wind flow off the mesa.) We are going for an airspeed, in low ground effect, well below Vso, and out of ground effect number. Done well, we will touch down slowly and softly with power exactly on the desired spot. Again, good job. Done well.

Isn't Lake Wohlford a Private airfield? A PA-28 with the "hershey bar" wing is a fun aircraft, especially if it's a 180 or 235hp version. With the O-320 engined versions, I wouldn't try that take off when the temperature is over 85° F, it could bite you in the butt! Hammer Comm'l./Inst, etc since 1981, US Army CW4/SrAviator

Rather a non-standard pattern entry... to a Private airfield. I liked taking the flaps off, putting the weight on the wheels to stop on the short strip. Last time I went in there it was in a Cardinal RG... Hammer
Ah yes, 28L at MYF. I did all my VA Inst. and Comm'l training at National Flight College there from 1980 - 1982 before I started flying for the Army. Even flew a C-172 from the Armed Forces Aero Club to Alaska for a month in 1981. Good trip, 44.5 hours of HARD IFR in an a/c that was only marginally equipped for the conditions. BOY did I ever learn fast! Good job! Didn't waste a bit of runway, either! Hammer

very nice, I just love flying at night. 45% of my total time is at night. however, I think you were a little to slow for my liking after you turned final and especially on short final. of course, I have not flown in 15 years and I have not flown a PA28 in 30 years. do you ever fly into Lingburg or el Cajon?
Yes actually, Gillespie Field is in El Cajon.
@@mattzoom8656 I am from Toronto, not the San Diego area. I once flew out of the Montgomery airport some 30 years ago. For some reason, I always confuse the two airports, happily not while flying though.

VNAV Approach or did you intercept the transponder? Does this aircraft have transponder capabilities? If so can it ride the glide slope automatically?
I loaded a visual approach on the GTN 650, which overlays a continues GPS radial over the runway extended centerline. For this particular airport it programs a 3.0 degree glide slope when I load and activate that mode. It doesn’t do this for all airports for whatever reason.

Wait, why did you put flaps up as soon as you touch down? Normally, I keep it down until I bleed all the airspeed. If I put it down that fast it’s usually a touch n’ go.
Putting weight on the wheels, dumping all lift..if your landing was right at stall speed then good.
Max braking requires max weight on the tires which flaps wont allow, also notice max elevator on roll out.
Ok that kinda makes sense. Short field landing - dump the flaps as soon as applicable to lose the lift.

Great job! I used to frequent this airport in the late 60s to mid-70s (C-140 and C-172). It wasn't private/restricted then and it was entertaining to watch "out-of-towners" make 2 or 3 go-arounds and then give up.
