Great video John, as always! I can't find the serial number on my vintage PP Calatrava. It has the movement number 1160652 and the Case number 2709837, but no serial number? Where or where could it be ...? :-) Any help would be greatly appreciated

Lovely gear but doesn't fit my life style

A number of years ago I purchased an 1885 Patek Philippe pocket watch for an "affordable price". Ever since, I've been enamored by the brand. The quality is certainly unmatched and worth more than the price paid. I recently told an older gentleman who sits in front of me in church of the watch. Don't think he believed me until I showed up the next week with it. He couldn't believe the weight of it in his hand. After the service, he made a special effort to give me a firm handshake and a toothy grin. It is amazing the respect this little time-only gem generated. Thank you for this article on the Patek Philippe pocket watches. I would like to see more and learn about this certain method of time keeping! Steve

HI John, for me your most interesting videos are related to the history of Patek iconic pieces, like the "1518-2499-3970 evolution"..., the updates on all vintage Patek auctions, and one that I really liked was "art design cases" from Patek...

I typically drop what I'm doing when your notification comes across. Enjoyed the nod to the automatic the most. FYI: My 1885 pocket watch keeps great time.

The Calatrava is the pinnacle of elegant dress watches. For me, a Calatrava should have Roman numerals, clous de Paris pattern on the case, time only without seconds or small seconds. I own a 5120G 35mm and I love it!

How often to they pop up, and how much do they auction or sell for? I wish Patek produce a modern version of this design. Very 60's but it will work in 2060 as well. Cheers

These pocket watches are definitely great value. However, I thought you had to buy a new Patek Philippe from a store to qualify for a subscription to the magazine. Does it work a second hand wristwatch too ? How do you subscribe?
