Zina occurs. With all due respect to this shaykh, his words aren't daleel and the strongest opinion is that free mixing falls under going near zina. How are you meant to be friends when Allah commanded to lower your gaze? Also when it's impermissible to not touch the opposite gender. Also when women are told to speak in a stern and serious tone to avoid desires. Not to mention the pious predecessors never had opposite gendered friends. With all that being said, If you still persist to assume that it's permissible then you clearly don't fear Allah, the punishments in the grave, on the day of judgement and you are a very disengenious person who follows any rulings as long as it fulfils your desires

I have considered the hadith and fiqh of intersex relatioms. Being colleagues and acquaintances with opposite sex is also OK. As long as it is professional and respectful. If men and women don't interact, how will they find a spouse? Not all countries, cultures and Islamic societies have arranged marriage as institution. Remember that. Also, in countries where men and women don't mix enough, some men may become perverted. It is well known what is happening in Iran (muta), Afghanistan (young boys and older men...) and Japan (corn) where 1)there are gender separation, 2) a certain frustration and 3) awkwardness towards opposite sex. It is organic for there to be some healthy mixing. One must have a healthy understanding of the opposite gender and a healthy amount of charisma.

I had a motorcycle accident 5 years ago. I devoloped severe CRPs I was bed bound for about 6 months. I follow the Maliki Madhab, but still had a tough decision about getting a dog or not to help me healthwise. I eventually decided to get a dog and she has helped my recovery massively. I pass out multiple times a day due to pain and brain damage. When I pass out I wake up not aware of what's happened and quite often try to get back up and further hurt myself. My dog knows when I'm in trouble and after passing out she comes and lays on my lap and won't let me try get up until I'm back to my senses. Once I'm okay she will go and fetch my wife if she is at home. Sometimes before I even pass out she knows somethings going to happen and she prevents me from getting up. I have multiple appointments a week with pain specialists, physios etc and they all praise my dog as they have all witnessed me pass out and have seen my dog go straight into action to protect me. Also I had a leg amputated early last year that along with my passing out means I cannot defend myself or my wife so she also is a great guard dog. I have had many Muslims tell me it's fine for me to have a dog as it's for medical reasons but when I recover I have to get rid of her. I'm not expected to ever recover so that won't be an issue. But I find it problematic if the dog has been loyal to me and protected me for 5 years at this point for me to recover and then abandon her seems very cruel and Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala tells us to be kind to animals. I have also seen scholars say the dogs not najis but if you own one it is haram to spend 30 minutes a day playing with the dog as its a waste of time. My dog protects me 24/7 and her favourite thing to do is play with her ball. I think for all she does for me the least I can do is play fetch with her for 10 minute 2 - 3 times a day. If I don't she gets depressed

This Mufti makes sense. Friendship in today's day & age is natural because men & women interact in schools, workplaces and everywhere. And hanging out together and joking together is a natural thing in friendship. Most other sheikhs don’t make sense when they forbid friendship between the opposite genders. I wish to see more sheikhs having similar views.

From Sahih Muslim #3813 Abu Zubair heard Jabir Abdullah saying: Allah's messenger ordered us to kill dogs and we carried out this order so much so that we also killed the dog roaming with a women from the desert. But, ironically, it's already been established via al-Islām (even prior to the Revelation of The Qur'ān) that celebrating the Births of Dead/Presumably-Dead Persons is Mahrūm/Islāmically-Prohibited. And, we know this, because celenrating the Births of Dead/Presumably-Dead Persons was one of the Signature-Acts of the People-Of-Noah: the 1st-Mushrikūn/Shirkers & 1st-Kuffār (Disbelievers/Non-Muslims) via Human-History. (at-Tabarī, as-Suyūtī, ibn-Kathīr)

It's obvious, that Non-Religio Celebrations/Festivals holistically are always Mubāh/Neutral. The Exception is if/when those Non-Religio Celebrations/Festivals are either pontificating/promoting Things which're Mahrūm/Islāmically-Prohibited, or possess Mahrūm-Usūl/Non-Islāmic Origins.

This isn't a "Salafī-Argument"...this is exclusively pertaining to Religio-Holidays. There's in fact only 2 Religio-Holidays: `Īd-ul-Fitr/Celebration-Of-Feasting & `Īd-ul-Adhā/Celebration-Of-Sacrifice.

So if you have the knowledge and know that it is haram and you do it, then it is haram ... if you did not know that its haram, it would not be considered haram to you
