The videos contained in this channel are examples of how a person could repair and service broken and forgotten vintage military vehicles and equipment.
The truck I am restoring is a G-7107, Chevy 1&1/2 ton 4X4. It was built in Oakland Calif. in Oct. 1942. I have restored a 1943 T-24 Weasel, a 1941 Dodge 1/2 ton Command Car, a P.E. 75 Generator and three Ben Hur trailers.
I can't explain the experience of driving a truck that actually makes its' own mechanical music as it's rolling down the road. Even though manufacturers made many examples of the same truck, each one has its' own "personality" and is just a bit different than its' brother.
I believe that it's important that as many of these examples of American History be restored, refurbished and/or preserved in the best possible condition. Because once they are gone, they will never be re-made and THIS part of American History will be gone too.

Briggs and Stratton, 1943, P. E. 75-T, Generator.
I actually picked this generator up today, 31 Aug. 2024. (P.E.) = Power Equipment. Production of these little generators began in March of 1943. All of the "early" gens. have cast iron cooling systems. "Later" models were built with sheet metal cooling shrouds to cut weight and save on War Materials.
I will be able to find the exact month of manufacture for this unit when I pull the flywheel to service the points.

I purchased a mess of Weasel parts from a good friend who didn't know that he as many parts as he thought. This box was included in the shipment. The was dated 1952 so the even though the carb. is from W.W. 2 era it is not new old stock. No matter, I didn't have one, but now I do.

It's been a awhile since my last upload, so here is a short video to get things rolling again. This is a P.E. 210, I think, and the 4th one I have owned. It needs a good cleaning inside and out, but it looks like it'll make a great keeper.
Cargo Bed Safety Strap.

The Preservative used on this Strap is a Moisture and Fungal Preservative. It has quite a unique medicinal scent to it. I wouldn't want to breathe it everyday, but it is one of those things I find enjoyable that takes me back to when I first started in the Antique Military Vehicle Restoration Hobby.

Rainier, I've been told that when a lenticular clour is over-top the peak, rainfall happens the very next day. And don't ya know these folks here are correct!

They don't have a manufacturers mark. A friend here has 4 small detachment stoves and said this implement went through refits after W.W. 2.

Sorry, I don't have spare parts. Didn't your country buy all the trucks and equipment from the U.S. Government after W.W. 2 anyway? There should be some of these air compressors floating around your area.
Tanks for you response back in the early 80 there was a lot of stuff cars and parts for sell but now is it very expensieve and hard to find
Awesome video, thank you so much for getting her away from the crows. For anyone interested: the American raven/crow population has grown 700% in a few decades. They pretty much clean out nestlings every spring while only 20-30% of nestlings get out of the nest. Only 50% of those who actually get out survive the following year. People should always chase them away, especially during nesting season. They eat such a varied diet that it would never hurt their survival rates. Plus, we humans feed them wayyyyyy too much, directly and indirectly.

@w.w.2restorations.vehicles698 I love them dearly but they have become a 100 times more prolific during nesting season than housecats, because they're so smart and work so well together as a group while hunting. This spring I saw a group of 10 clean out large tree after large tree by using the screamers to scare the small birds and create chaos for one and nr 2, they're so big and heavy that they just shake the trees screaming until all nests come loose, then the rest of them pick up the chicks below. It became too much to bear so I went after them and have kept them away all spring lol
There are three or four of these in the hanger. We have never fired one of these. As I understand it, the fuel flows on the bottom of the stove, and the fumes are what you burn. The pans are the really hard part to find.

This one makes two. About two years ago I bought my 1st. one from a guy in Oregon. It has the original Briggs and Stratton model "N" engine in it.

I know this video was a while ago. But I just inquired a generator just like this one. Do you remember what oil/fuel ratio you used to run it?
Hey Dalton, thanks for watching my video. I do remember some specs about the fuel/oil. The filler cap is the "Ratio Cup" and it calls for 1 cap of 30W NON-DETERGENT motor oil per tank of gasoline. If you follow the mixture, You"ll be A-Okay.

I forgot that YOU were there stupidvising. The Solder I used is 60/40 Tin/Lead ACID Core Solder, hence all the smoke and black residue at the end. So there's that...

I rode in one at the Puyallup gun show a few years ago. Man are they difficult to get in and out of. I know someone that needs track stuff, in your neighborhood too. Good find! Someone needs to save the history, it is better you than me!

R.R.R. Thanks for watching my video first off. Now for the big news, You can rest easy knowing that GMC used insert bearing and was fitted with an oil pump that supplied pressure to the crank, cam and all points in between and developed a max pressure of 58 lbs. per square inch. HOWEVER, the engine that came in these trucks originally was a 235 c.i.d. engine with the Babbit bearings.
I recently purchased a 1970's Galion road grader which has similar wheels (not Widowmakers) and I've had zero luck finding a shop to change the old, rotted tires. A friend (who owns a tire shop) has agreed (with my help) to very carefully try (along with us both doing research and watching many videos about proper procedures and safety precautions). Thank you for this very informative video!
