Great videos, I appreciate how you break it down... my question was... if you ran this club high? if i'm correct... do Ace's play high or low then? You lost me at the very end

Considering how the cards fell your bid prolly prevented a boston. You had 1 ace. They would 've had 3 aces, 2 jicks and the Kitty. To me* not knowing who is who you bid your hand right to push the bid to 6 for and a better chance.

Look at all these idiots saying no trump. Then your opponents have the 3 of hearts and kick you in the teeth with clubs. You need decent cards in all suits for no trump.

Thanks for posting this video. I used to play years ago with my older brother. Been looking for instructions for a long time. Your instructions are clear and easily understood. I’m going to try to get some folks I play cards with to play this. I’ve asked so many people I know if they knew Bid Whist but nobody even heard of it. Then finally realized it wasn’t a game many white folks knew😮.

Hi, the discard looked good and your strategy of pulling trump is wise, but I think there are a couple areas that could use improvement. When you were pulling trump, you could have afforded to lead the A from A2345. Whenever you hold connecting cards (especially a lot of them), you want to lead top of a sequence. This is to prevent partner from cutting off your head unnecessarily. Suppose you were holding KQJ of a side suit in an uptown contract. If you lead the J while partner is holding the A, he's going to needlessly play his A over your J. If, however, we had led the K, partner would know that your King is a winner since he's holding the A, and then we can play our Q and so on. In addition to the above, another reason we do this is to force out the higher cards. Suppose this happened after your opening lead of the 9H: partner shows a void (or something worthless like a K) and East wins the trick with a cheesy 8. If we had led from our dominating A2345 sequence (ideally the A, see above), we would have forced the opponents to use a valuable trump like the little or big joker to win the trick. One last microtip: if you have nothing but winning cards and a buried loser in another suit (like the 5D from your A25 combo at the end) save that suit for the very end. I would have played the 5H before banging down the A2 of diamonds. This gives the opponents opportunities to make incorrect discards and hopefully promote our losing card into a winner.

i’m curious. what was the advantage of bidding 5 rather than 4? your partner bid 3, and the others passed. i would have bid 4D.
