BUDGET TALK: TAXES IN COMPARISON
zhlédnutí 27Před 12 lety
As the largest city in Tennessee, Memphis does have the highest property tax in the state. While comparisons will be drawn between the taxes in Memphis and those in other cities in Tennessee, however, Memphis still ranks as one of the country's most tax friendly cities. This can be explained by the fact that Tennessee ranks as 47th out of 50 states in terms of the tax burden placed upon its cit...

    Every mayor in every municipality across USA should follow suit! Finally, some justice, and hope for the future of homeless, abandoned and sick/injured animals in Memphis Animal Control. Thank you Mayor.

    The director needs to be fired Mayor and there needs to be a TRUE animal lover who cares about the welfare and safety of EVERY animal who enters. And there should be cameras put in for everyone to see. Also if this were a childcare facility there would not be ANY exceptions!!! This is no different from having decent people around animals! It is no different from harming a defenseless human baby!

  • @singpraise247
    @singpraise247 Před 12 lety

    YES YES YES ! You are AWESOME Mayor! And you are awesome to put an undercover there. This is sick. And someone who CAN hurt an animal who is innocent and defenseless will hurt ANYONE! And just hurting them is enough to put them away! Although I wish the animals did not have to suffer to begin with. That is sickening.NO animal should EVER EVER suffer! They rely on us like a baby does and they cannot do ANYTHING if we do not keep them safe. Animals should be safe with EVERY human just like a baby.

    Today’s indictments represent a positive step. But this step can easily be undone if the mayor stops here. Remember that he began his term in office by announcing that three workers at MAS were being charged with animal cruelty in 2009. This was far from a catalyst for meaningful reform. Some believe things at MAS are generally no better than when those charges were brought.

  • @ginamapi

    Read this piece to see that these 3 arrests aren't the problem solver for this abuse! yesbiscuit. com

  • @ginamapi
    @ginamapi Před 12 lety

    Im sorry while this is great that these three pieces of crap were indited it still doesnt mean that Mephis is putting an end to all the abuse that happens at this shelter. The mayor needs to do a lot more if he really wants to end this abuse!

    Thank you MPD for your undercover investigation of the Memphis Animal Shelter. So many of us are proud to have you on our side. It's enough that these poor little homeless, innocent, pets are to be euthanized, but to abuse them in the process is unspeakable. Abuse of any kind is unacceptable no matter what the circumstances may be. I hope that more indictments are brought forward against the abusers in this establishment.

    Excellent - Taking you at your word and appreciate your concerned. Thanking the Police Department for the efforts to assist in ameliorating the problems that have occurred. Thanking the many wonderful people wanting to see a regard and compassion for these innocent victims of our society who have done nothing wrong, found lost, and wind up on death row when the shelters claim to have no more room...

    @pupsonthelam Mayor Wharton is currently not a candidate for office. He was re-elected last year. Also, in the video the Mayor speaks directly to why the dismissal or firing of employees must be based on evidence and facts, not accusations and perception. Thank you

    Dear Mayor Wharton, I haven't had a hero in a long while. Your words are eloquent and reassuring, and your actions superlative. As a NYer, I want to thank you and wish that Mayor Bloomberg and his city council could take cues from you, in addition to the rest of the cities mayors who should feel equally committed and passionate as you.

    Finally!! Memphis has done the right thing but it's a terrible shame that it took so very long to do it. I personally spoke to the Mayor on the phone about a year ago, concerning MAS, and he told me that all problems had been greatly exagerrated and Memphis Animal Control was doing a great job. I guess he was wrong BUT I have to respect the fact that action was finally taken.
