Finally getting a chance to catch up with my feed, you keep finding an interesting gems to play😀 This one looks really interesting and I've just got some reads on the time period - another one to be added to my wishlist. Not ordering it yet, though, as just pre-ordered the latest GCACW game via SCG so my gaming budget is gone...
FYI The 4th scenario, "The Battle of Sari Bair", is a real gem, and as good as the 1st. It features the Kiwi's assault to take the heights of Chunuk Bair.
@lowke that sounds great, looking forward to getting started on this...well done a super looking game :)
👍
Good Sunday morning 🌞
Video=👍
@charleslatora5750 morning sir, hope you are well!
@@prasutagustheorwellwargamer beautiful here in San Diego. Sitting outside under a palm tree. Trying to figure out my bases for my 2 mm ACW troops
@@charleslatora5750 very nice what better way to start the day...2mm goodness. :)
Sorry to hijack this video with a question but I just saw your 2mm armies. They look absolutely smashing. Can you please tell me what books you used to figure out how to base them? I am really struggling with the Dutch, Swedish systems as most of the diagrams I see are just copied over and over again from previous sources and make little sense. You seem to have nailed the Swedish deployment. Any help will be much appreciated. Cheers!
@tankwright5489 no problem, thanks for your kind comments:) for guidance i used two rules sets, in deo veritas and tercios which had scenario and formation info, plus other helion and osprey titles. Hope that helps a liitle and best wishes and good luck with your project
Congrats on the coming wedding, a nice haul despite you being busy😁 I'm just back from holiday, too, but somehow resisted to make new acquisitions😂 But some SoA stuff looks interesting, I was tempted to hunt them down for a while. Especially Legion and Saxon Shore game look interesting...
@przemekbozek thank-you....always making purchases the dangers of the Internet just need the time to play them :) hope you had a good hols and are now full of gaming Inspiration...soa do produce some great stuff and if you are a member access to other things too
Congratulations on offloading a daughter. You are not losing a daughter, you are regaining your bank balance! 😄
@I_Don_t_want_a_handle absolutely! :)
I would be very interested in hearing about your experiences with these rules. Since you have made this video.😊
@Caniswalensis thanks for your question. Have played these a few times in small scales. They provide a fun game, with clever mechanics and choices for the player throughout. Of course being an osprey limited size rules set some limitations but overall i liked it and would play again. Provides a period feel :)
@prasutagustheorwellwargamer thank you for the breakdown. We have been playing them using 54mm plastic soldiers. It's the first time any of us have played Napoleonics. It has been a journey. :-)
Went to the one company's website saw their rules for ancient Naval combat. Corvus. Looks very interesting. My biremes n triremes have been looking for some interesting rules
@charleslatora5750 good choice, i look at those also. Not a huge investment so worth a punt!
Nice score!
Thank you for all your efforts and work involved in your videos, very enjoyable. May I ask how you "playtest" card driven games? I mostly game solo, and the trend to card driven games, whereby a lot of tension and enjoyment comes from not knowing what cards your opponent has/is going to play, is unsuitable for solitaire play. Anyway, great stuff. Cheers.
@buckospiffle594 Thanks for your kind words, and glad you are enjoying the channel. Cdg are a tricky one and there is no perfect answer ....sometimes i play both sides and try not to think about the other hands, sometimes use a solo bot if available, bgg often has great stuff produced by other gamers. My other technique is to pick several cards i would potentially use and roll randomly to decide which one...i often play solo myself so appreciate this is not an easy fix :)
Looking good. I already have 25/28mm Republican Roman army this is a way to play large scale at low cost
@septimus64 thanks for watching and appreciate your comments :)
Good walk through and I agree with your view of the rules. I play them and enjoy them as they are easy to learn and give a good game in a couple of hours which is ideal for an evening game down the club. 👍
@wargameshobby thanks for watching and your comments. Agreed a solid set of rules and a fun game.
Nice! BTW Do you have canvass maps made for your games? If so, can you provide information about that? Thank you.
@jonfleenor461 hi there yes some i source for hollandspiele and white dog games from second chance games uk although you can get them from the companies themselves i believe in the USA
Nice review! I also quite like Steve Pole's designs.
@MarcFiguerasAtienza thanks Marc, appreciate your comments :)
Nicely done.
@6milphil975 thanks most appreciated
Hi there I can recommend Altar of Freedom by Greg Wagman. It is a great rule set that is for 6mm. (I just halved all the measurements) I have ACW armies from Irregular miniatures UK All the best!
@thunderccr5056 Thanks for your comments. I am also a big advocate of those rules...love em....will have to look at those for 2mm also :)
Cool. Love it.😊
@@tritanable thanks, most appreciated :)
interesting, gridded ACW system 😁
@przemekbozek yes suits smaller scales well. Looking forward to trying out the rules :)
@@prasutagustheorwellwargamer looking forward to your comments on them as they look quite interesting😁
@przemekbozek hope to get them on a table soon :)
What company makes your 3x2 cloth? I like it!
@kevinsenglishschools3405 i bought it from simon miller at big red bat, i believe its made by deep-cut studios :)
@@prasutagustheorwellwargamer Thank you!
Beautiful!
Smart looking places . Not sure ive heard of them before .
@matttownsend4225 yes, both great places and offer different things. If you are uk based, well worth a visit
Some splendid units here, well done!
@@philRminiatures thanks Phil most appreciated :)
Well done! A lovely little self contained project. Terrain always looks so much better the smaller the scale.
@@tonys4341 thanks Tony glad you liked it :)
Great to the finished project (or is it?). This has a lot of potential.
Thanks Mark, appreciate your comments. For now in my mind it is done, but maybe more in due course? Too many projects, not enough time :)
I have this game and have taught it to new players at a Houston Wargame Con. Great video
@whitneymilam3141 thanks for watching and your comments glad you enjoyed it...its a fun game
Thanks for your thoughts, sounds like an interesting game, appreciate the difference in the unit types as well as focus on bombardment. Agreed on the solo side as well, I normally don't bother learning the bots if it can be avoided as much prefer playing solo 2-handed if I can't find the opponent for the title...
@przemekbozek i am similar although i thought the solo bot for worthingtons chancellorsville was excellent.anzio is a neat little game to scratch an itch :)
@@prasutagustheorwellwargamer That's one game I really need to try out, keep hearing good things about it, especially the hidden element. We will see what Volko Ruhnke's upcoming games (Hunt for Blackbeard and Coast Watchers) do for this idea of a hidden movement🙂
@przemekbozek yes hunt for blackbeard looks interesting...chancellorsville well worth the look i am not sure gettysburg will work as well but we will see it looks a nice production but i really dont need another gettysburg game with circa 5+ already lol
@@prasutagustheorwellwargamer I didn't know about the Gettysburg game😱 That's one of my favourite battles, I suspect I can find a space for one more once it's out😁
@przemekbozek dont think its far off....definitely one for your purchase list :)
Do i need another Malta game? Probably yes. We'll see if I can find a copy here in the US before ordering all the way from Spain.
@charleslatora5750 good choice its a cracker! :)
I'll try to get to a two or three more videos later this afternoon. Right now I'm waiting to see if gamers with coffee is doing a live stream or not...yes they are...fun channel
Good Sunday morning 🌄
Video 👍👍
@charleslatora5750 thanks Charles you to sir. Thanks as always for watching:)
Avalon Hill's anzio is garbage. 👍👍Thanks sir
@charleslatora5750 not played that one Charles. This one has nice production values quite simplistic, but some interesting command options :)
Good review thanks. I’ve got one game, Cassino. Came very quickly, excellent production values and it looks like a an interesting system. BUT. I haven’t played any of the four games in the box. The problem is the rules. The translation isn’t good enough for me to be confident that I am playing the game correctly. Unlike Westerplatte it is a moderately complex system and I think it needs someone fluent in English, Polish AND a board gamer to translate the rules effectively. This is such a shame. This is a quality product, which seems excellent value for money, with a great range of titles and the company deserve a far bigger audience.
@michaelmather8694 ah that is a shame...the westerplatte english translation is generally good enough. I agree they offer some excellent titles and the naps are gorgeous...more exposure would be great but yes they do need to sort this!
Gracias a la revista vae victis,en España podemos jugar a wargames,AQUI NO LLEGAN LOS JUEGOS DE GMT Y CIA
@JoseAlvaroLlopez-yz3ye Hola!. thats great i hope more quality games come to spain soon..,snafu offer some excellent titles:)
Helion books are always tempting, I've spent far too much with them myself
@TheHaileris Hi Andy, indeed they are me too! Good though! So many great publications its impossible sometimes to resist! :)
The solo rules seem more like suggestions on how to play two handed than an actual enemy ai, which is a shame. Thanks for sharing!
@WW2SolitaireBoardGameChannel thanks for watching. I agree the solo rules give a framework but you still have to make decisions for the germans...enjoyed game all the same. Period interesting and some difficult decisions to make as the allied player. It is easy to sit on the defensive when you really need to get your forces forward out of the beachead to capture key locations to win the game :)
Completely agree with your assessment of VV - really love how they cover a lot of topics "off a beaten path". Unfortunately, both ancient tactical game I've had a while back and more recent Wattignies 1793 I've tried were duds, with rules somehow not "clicking" for me. Plus the graphics is really nice but I much prefer same graphics for the same unit types. Not giving up on them yet, though, have a few more titles to try😁
Hi there thanks for your comments...interesting and a shame your recent purchase hasnt proved a good play...not tried the ancient one either but may give this a miss!
Very nice! I am a fan of the old Baccus Polish range as most of my Poles are these as well, I feel the scale of the cavalry is slightly better than in the new range. But I must admit that once one gets their hands on the new models, one really does miss the bendy lances and breaking off banners of the old hussars.
Tyvm glad you like em. Yes the old sculps are cool a bit more chunky imo. A fun army to paint :)
I remember when WSS first became available in the UK, they had English translations of the articles in Spanish.
Aye me too, seems a lifetime ago :)
Great Update, Helion do some great books.
Ty, yes very dangerous getting emails from Helion, always great books to purchase:)
Why are you called "The Orwell Gamer"?
Hi there, i live near the river orwell in the uk? Thanks for watching:)
@prasutagustheorwellwargamer hey, that is a super cool name for a river and a CZcams channel. I found you because myself and some friends have been getting into Napoleonic gaming using the Absolute Emperor rules. We are enjoying it quite a bit.
@Caniswalensis ty thats very kind. AE is a great set if very underrated rules imo...enjoy!
Glad the game arrived safely, I've got Equatorial Clash but somehow it's not clicking yet, making a quick detour into another time period - Wattignies 1793 from Vae Victis 😁
Thanks again. Yes EC takes some getting your head around..i need to give it a few more plays also. Wattignies sounds interesting....i have just purchased cedar mountain from VV they publish some good stuff:)
@@prasutagustheorwellwargamer This one got some good coverage from Justegarde recently 😁 I got a couple more from VV as well (Basileus and WW1 game), will check them out one at a time...
That Carlist Wars book is very good. Figures wise it’s 15mm or 28mm. I’ve gone down the 15mm route with Stonewall Figures, in Cornwall
Yes now reading my way through it...thanks for the heads up on stonewall figs...they look a good range :)
Very interesting vid, and nice view of the game too. Thank you.
Thanks Gary, glad you enjoyed it:)
Not sure if 28mm appeals to you, but Rules wise you could probably use Rebels & Patriots and I think the Perrys may have done some figures for this range, or possibly the Historicals Wargames Foundry.
Thanks, Andrew appreciate the pointers....probably a smaller scale would appeal, but i will take a look at the perrys..many thanks :)
Interested in how you choose which games to buy ? You buy from great shop in Liverpool ? Liked the video , thanks - often watch reviews of bigger games that I'd probably never have mental capacity to learn and play .
Hi Matt thanks for your kind comments....in terms of chpsing, i tend to pick games that cover eras i am interested in, unusual conflicts or games that are likely to be payable normally within a couple of hours. Yes scg offer great service and pretty much the only supplier of lots of games in the uk. I personally also struggle with bigger games and would never have the time to complete them :)
Ah right . I hear you ! Thanks .
Hi James, thanks for both the video and the give away 😁 It's currently on my virtual (Vassal) table and I'm learning the game. I'm not the "artsy" person but really enjoy the presentation as well as historical notes - didn't know anything about the conflict until now...
No problem Przemek, be good to hear your thoughts in due course :)
Morning. Again👍.
Absolutely outstanding 😍 loving the look of them, I can't remember but are you using 60x30 mm base's for the unit's?
Hi Simon, thanks for your comments, most appreciated. They are indeed 60x30mm :)
Thanks for letting me know, definitely something I'm leaning towards, I have the polemos ACW rules and the thought of 24 6mm figures representing a brigade just doesn't do it for me lol so have been toying up for a while with the idea of using irregular miniatures 2mm and making up the brigades as you have done. Thank you for making these videos they are a great help and after you showcasing your 6mm Polish GNW army I managed to bag one on eBay lol
@simonwilliams3546 totally agree Simon, although I have a confederate 6mm army as well! I do love the brigades in 2mm using the blocks. Yoy can see the regiments and you get the cohesive look. Glad it is getting you inspired as with the polish GNW. They are a fun army to play although quite brittle. I must ger my swedes done also..
Congratulations 🎉
Thank you :)
Superb units, looks real and splendid!
Thanks Phil
I love it that you did not put those hideous labels on top of the bases. If necessary put them underneath. Otherwise what's the point. You may was well use counters. The beauty of 2mm or to some extent 6mm is that you can make the table look like an actual full scale batter. So lablels defeat the purpose. IMHO
Totally agree Kevin, less clutter is more. Small scales pop enmasse :)
Hi, James, thanks for your kind comments! And indeed, it's somewhat difficult to make people interested in so-little known periods and conflicts. But that's why we make them! 😉
Thanks Marc, you are very welcome. Keep up the great work!
