ChickenWired is an absorbing craft for all ages 8 and over. It is challenging, but with a few simple tips in mind, the possibilities are endless. I have been teaching the craft in schools for the last few years.

Poppy - Decorating a giant poppy

I made a wire frame of a Poppy for West Heaton school along with a running man sculpture. Both were then decorated with waterproof ribbon for an external display at West Heath school Birmingham @.westheathprim. Hello just wondering what thickness your aluminium wire is?
If memory serves it was 1.6mm, maybe 2mm. Aluminium is easy to use as it’s so soft.

+ChickenWired what type of chicken wire is this? The one I tried working with was much harder to work with
This is wire I have made up for me for my workshops and kits but I agree the steel wire can be harsh on the hands. You can use green PVC coated wire that can be bought at various DIY shops or kits are available through chickenwired.com

Hello, Many thanks for your comments. The sheets can be bought from my site chickenwired.com but the cost of delivery would be high. You should be able to get chickenwire or rabbit netting as it is sometimes called from places like Home Depot. which I believe has stores in Mexico.
