    Hi Kay, what a shame the two projects didn’t fit. Especially the jacket must have taken a lot of time and effort! My mum always tell me to get something from my closet to compare the fit with the pattern pieces… found that very tiring but after a few misses it is a good tip to prevent these sort of issues. Well… at least nobody recognizes you in the jacket with the hood anyway 😉 loved your vlog! ❤

    Echo the finished measurements, but on some patterns, I swear the Company of Big 4 decided we were all not taking into account the ease we need, so have fudged the finished measurements list, found on piece 1 always, or in a wardrobe pattern, the front pattern piece will have it. I actually measure it, with a ruler, do a little math, know what ease I want, and cut out whatever size happens to fit. I’ve sewn long enough, and strangely I know, my body simply doesn’t change a whole lot, that I can tell at a glance more investigating is in order. The jacket is lovely, but clearly a bit big, as the polo shirt. Both geared towards men’s sizes. Some patterns have different patterns for men and women, some expect women to know what men’s size they wear. Which is probably a smaller…….nice job, tho. I really like New Look, and love the shirt dress. Take care.

    • @pinkderdlesews
      @pinkderdlesews Před 3 dny

      @craftymystic4868 thank you so much for taking the time to write your comment, it's very helpful and I agree. I think the Big 4 ease is way over what it's supposed to be in some patterns. A couple of people have mentioned measuring the actual pattern pieces as well, and that's what I'm going to do next time I use a pattern new to me. I'll still wear the jacket, once I've sorted the sleeves and I think I can take in the polo top so all is not lost 🙂. I was quite surprised at how nice the shirt dress turned out, and I'll be making more for next summer. Thank you again 😘

      hi Paula, thank you that's a great tip. I sometimes check the finished sizes on packets, I'll start looking on the pattern pieces now. I think I'm used to the 'indie' patterns, which tend to come up the size I'm expecting them to! I just love that Roseclair dress. As soon as I saw the fabric I knew what I wanted to make with it 😘

      I’ve given up with big four/five patterns…too much ease, even with checking finished measurements (should you be able to spot them) … I use Indie only now …. I feel your pain

      @@pinkderdlesews hi there,yes I do prefer indie patterns too,since I live in Sweden ,there is not much difference between indie vices big four patterns in price,patterns are expensive here 🥰

      @deniseblake6214 I think I'll be giving them up too! I love my Cashmerette patterns and I know I don't have to adjust them ......but sometimes I just get tempted away 🫣😁

      Thank you so much, what a lovely comment. I can't take much credit for style in fabric as a lot of it arrives in my Sew Hayley Jane subscription boxes. But that's very kind of you to say. So glad I make you smile, there definitely should be more smiling in the world 😁😘

      Thank you 😊. Suffice it to say everything changed and I think only three of my planned makes, with the planned fabric actually got made. The other fabrics have either been made into something else or are still in my stash😅. I think I'd better do a round up of makes soon 😂 😘

      @sewonsister thank you so much. I felt that, having said I'd be joining the challenge, the least I could do was to follow the guidelines. And then of course, I had a pile of cut up jeans, which I was itching to make into something. I'm glad you liked them 😊

    Fabulous job on your makes! I like both fabrics, the first is more Bohemian and I would like to see it against the Rust linen, the second looks good with the ecru fabric and is more classic. I think it just depends on what type of vibe you're wanting to acheive . I can't wait to see what you make. I enjoy your channel very much!!

    The bum bag turned out well! The floral cord "toile" is a wonderful bonus, but the jeans skirt is really cute, Kay. I'd be tickled about that, too. I look for seeing what you do with the Ploen Tyra trousers. I would be happier with fabric B, but both will be nice, just very different. Glad you horned in on the Busy Bees challenges.
