2An opportunity is alot like a bridge. Much like a bridge may transport us from one world to another, an opportunity can transport us from one moment to another.
I want you to remember a time you have been proud of your influence.
As Christians, we are called by God to influence the world-to be the Salt and light of the world! To be the additives that bring out the truth and the flavor of Jesus in our world.
We made the most of that opportunity by crossing a bridge from where we were to the payoff!
A bridge is a system designed to provide a path to a desired destination.
How do we make the most of the opportunities given? We create a system! If you want a Matthew 5:16 life you need a system to influence others.
Here are three keys we need to bridge our efforts to Kingdom consequences.
1 Identify the Opportunities
We will not find the opportunities we are not looking for.
When we become experts at identifying opportunities
We become vessels of evangelizing our Communities.
You do not achieve influence because you are right.
You achieve influence when you act on opportunity and demonstrate that you care.
2. Make It Personal
It wasn’t the story
It was the proximity to the story.
We live in a world where
What is close is true.
We change our perspective based on our proximity.
As Christ's followers, our goal is to flip that!
To be the salt and the light is to bring the truth close.
To cross that bridge with God’s truth and allow the proximity to the light and to the salt, to the good deeds to be felt and experienced.
There is a difference between shining a light on someone (impersonal)
and sharing a light with someone (Personal)
There is a difference between salting a recipe (impersonal)
and passing the salt shaker to the person sitting next to you (Personal)
3. Leverage Your Influence
Parents not wanting to leverage their influence in fear that the relationship will collapse due to the weight of the gospel.
"So that everyone will praise your heavenly Father."
The most important part of a bridge is that it is able to hold the weight of the items it is there to share.
The Fear is that the bridge will fail.
What is a bridge that collapses or is cut off? A PIER
A Bridge is meant to carry the weight of what it is called to Carry.
But let me encourage you. The bridge you have been building with people is one that is meant to carry the weight of what it is called to carry - the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
