My daughters seeing me have a well rounded life that does not always center them or my hubs, has been and continues to be VERY important to me. I was who I am before them, and will continue to be after. They come to work with me, they see me hang with my friends, we hang and travel as a family, but they also see mom and dad have lives outside of them, and it’s OK! I love being their mom and watching them grow but I always knew I could NEVER be that mom who loses herself in motherhood. Thank you for sharing with us and I’m so relieved to know other moms who feel the same. 🫶🏿

It’s like, I’ve intuitively been moving in this way of parenting without speaking on it. So now, hearing you speak about this in length (and hearing about how it actually worked) is so refreshing! I had my son at 25/26 and people still thought that I was a teen mother. I'm 34 currently and I have 2 kids now and people still think that.

Im 38 and a empty nester. I had my daughter at 18 and my first at 13, yes 13! So hey girl hey! I’m here relating with you. Dropping my daughter off to college and meeting the moms there was like ummmm where are the ladies my age because I do have friends my age with kids my daughter’s age, but honey there were none😢. I agree with your statement on motherhood, I was like you with rearing my children and although I hate to say it I was selfish and included myself. I didn’t throw my all into parenting, not to say I didn’t care for my children but I believe we both children and mom were going to enjoy life. And that we are! Girl why are you on here preaching like this! Good luck empty nester!

I thought it was just me who thought I would be frowned upon having my daughter at 21. Now the majority of women i know have 5 years and under kids. Sometimes it's a bit uncomfortable but i xan tell you no way no how would i want kids today. Thank you for sharing💜💜

No society should operate like that. Having children while pursuing a career shouldn't be looked at as some type of inconvenience in the workplace because it's real life!
