Its all about Locomotive horns, Have built all models of Leslie Supertyfon. We have built custom Leslie 247, 277, 330 and 392 bells. Fabricated replica Leslie S-5D, S-5A, S-3E and S-3J horns. sb M-3 Sounded good in the cab. #1, #2 chambers 5/16. #3 chamber 3/16. Started @ 150 psi. Finished @ 45 psi. 35 gal of air.

I won a realy old cast iron PRR railroad crossing sign from Copake Acutioners in Copake NY. It weights about 100 Lbs. I was only about an hour to North Adams. Home of the West portal of the Hoosac Tunnel. Built from 1851-1875 at a cost of 21 million. Single, standard gauge track at a leignth of 4.75 miles. It passes under the Hoosac Range of the Green Mtns. Its still in use today. Track was shi...
Repairing a Leslie RS3L that lived under a truck.

This horn spent time under a truck. Leslies dont like that at all. Extreme corrosion, worlds best locktite. Only broke to back cap bolts. Chambers amazlingly clean inside. All bell bolts and bells frozen solid. Used lots of heat and prayers where answered. Only replaced one chamber housing and some bolts, new gaskets and dounuts. Any horn under a truck should be assembled with lots of never sie...

Hancock 4700-10, no deflector. Was 35 gal @ start 150psi.3/4 id line. Got more out of it than I thought it would go. Cool request Thanks.

Couldent pass it up. A Ibuki A200. Wish I knew more about it. This horn uses an insane amount of air. 35 gal @ 150psi to start. 2 and 1/2 blasts and its all gone. Might let this one go. Make a offer. cawalshx2@hotmail.com

To start its parts built, but all horns are built from parts. That said, it took a bit to collect the parts for this horn. Allways wanted a SU3B, try to find one. Even just pictures of one. Its fun to go on a hunt to find the parts to build a spacific horn. The further time goes on Leslie parts are becoming more illusive.

#3 bell 1st #3-480, 2nd, #3B 3rd, 4th #3A. The first 3 bells are wicked close. The 3A stood alone when I did the comparision. When I heard on the vid I could pick out the 3B bell too. 1st 3 bells, raised letter. last bell non-raised.

K-3LA is real and I put bells 3.5, 2pc 1L on 3 chime mani.It shore did rock.
@@cawalshx2 I see, amazing! Im hopefully gonna put a K5LA raiseletter on my car here soon, a buddy of mine needs it gone so im buying it off of him. Thing is, im unsure on how im gonna run the air hose to the horns themselves, its not a truck or anything but just a regular 4 seater sedan
@@novawarningsirens Use 1/2 in dot airline with the plug and play fittings. Ya might br able to sneek it out the trunk lid and up to the roof.

This particularly M3 is the very horn that 573 arrived with in 1996 then 573 had it until 2003 I believe then thats when they put that awful P5 on it & then during the years it got a few temporary horn changes such as a K3L in 2012 & 2013 & then this very M3 in 2014 as they fixed the P5 & then it got its Fantastic M5 in 2018
Would love to hear a S5T there some day in Crawford Notch.

Very nice sounding horn!! The chord that it is tuned to is a D minor 7th. The sound is very pleasing. I remembered that the later versions of this horn used the leslie 5 chime manifold.
what drums did you use?
6 lug to match new axels and backing plates. Gotta match the drums to the shoe size on the backin plates.
My 31 on 1958 S5T-R was/is stuck at least that bad. I was going to face all 5 forward. After 4 days I took it as a sign that the horn gods wanted that horn to stay in its original N&W configuration. If I ever revisit it will be ice water for sure. Thx a bunch

@@cawalshx2 thanks for the reply just found out here in australia the ln kzn rzn vzn 167 hilux axels backing plates and drums fit the rear diff center from any hilux fits the rear and the front diff gears from about 1990-2004 hilux/4runner with ifs fit in the hiace front housing
@@user-vo5km8bi1m Just watch ya gear ratio. Diesel gears are different than gas engine. Diesel dont have as high as high a rpm. I matched the rear with what was in the front, 8-40. The 3dr member i got was only 1000.00. Left the front alone. Make shore ya set the gear lash corectly. Dont use the old crush colar.

If this is one of those 3rd rail engines, fer corn's sake explain how it operates when operating electrically. I have never seen that explained. Does it have a separate controller, like a streetcar's, for 3rd rail running? Does it have resistors, thyristers or what? What provides air pressure when the diesel is shut down?

Got the bells arranged incorrectly! 3A/5 always on the right, 2/4A on the left! Unless it was somehow on the loco that way!

@@Acermani456 The move was for Christmas to stage the loco commin out of the covered bridge with freight cars all lit up with Christmas lights. Thats all I know at this point.
