Architectural historian Dr Jonathan Foyle explores some of the best Georgian and Victorian neo-classical civic buildings in the north of England. He visits town halls, concert halls, libraries, schools and galleries in Liverpool, Leeds, Bradford, Manchester and Todmorden in an unlikely story of rivalry, ambition and power in the service of social responsibility. Neo-classicism harked back to Ro...

Amen
Noblesse oblige of the 18th and 19th century delivered beautiful buildings - today, no one takes pride in architecture; it just needs to be cheap, maximise economy, and do the bare minimum to meet planning requirements.
I love this album like few others! <3
sameer ahmad a samplé heather dans l'un des plus grand morceau de rap français : nouveau sinatra. Quand les grands esprit se rencontrent
modern architecture is cultural vandalism, a narcissists dream.
Brandon sent me here 🎚️🎛️
why is this so good
The energy on this song! Brilliant piece from The Witch. Yielding to the Disco/Funk sound, after the Zamrock era had faded, this was versatility at its best. The formula worked.
💎
11:00 I’m stealing that quote. Thank you.
22:48 “beauty is nothing without utility”
The Allegro was just beautiful! Beautiful!
Anyone know any other songs that sound like this? Love it.
11:00 sample
The narrative is absolutely obnoxious. What a pile of virtue signalling and condescending superiority. Disgusting. Only the architecture saves this show from toilet fodder.
The first time I heard it, got surprised by the magnific way to perform all the music of the album, specially, "Heather" that makes me imagine the moon in the sky, a quiet street where nobody walks, the barks of some dogs far away, and the sexy and sensual images of a beautiful girl... Superb!!
Supremo Mister Cobham
Right now our Asylum buildings are being demolished, but thankfully we can all report to English Heritage and they will try to preserve them as they were Architectural Marvels
I bought this album when it came out ( I was 14) ..still excellent
BTW I'm now 64
Absolutely gold bought this on its release im now 74 and still knocked out
Wow 😅
Cresci com este álbum e um monte de outras bandas... É de amar essas músicas
How cool is this groove, especially the lil snare flutter!!!!!!!!😊

A lovely song
Radio Zulu Sunday mornings long ago
Reminds of Sunday mornings on Radio Zulu Ezingasoze zabuna by Dalton Ngwenya wow
what about mihluku minati
Mmmm, Bilham Cobly... 😁 "I'm not the pheasant plucker, I'm the pheasant plucker's son, And I'm only plucking pheasants Till the pheasant plucker comes." [Repeat quickly five times, but not in polite company.]
It's too unenglish.
Is that Tommy Bolin on Guitar? Gonna play my Vinyl Original on 2 x 300 Watts @Pasadena!
It took 8.5 minutes before the BBC got around to talking about slavery, after which I switched off.
I met Lou @ CalArts in 1980 ...and he looked like santa claus even then
The Chaccone is just gorgeous
I am now 68 years old and love cobham. I am still playing his music and go to his shows too. Fusion forever.
Surman has inspired me for 50 yrs.
Zamrock, great memories
Thank you for sharing 🙏🏾🙏🏾
You're very welcome Ron. Love your work.
That track composition titled Venus Fly Trap just cooks!! I love abstract high notes on horns whether it be on trumpet or saxophone. So unique and had so much finesse. These cats could play jazz like no one else could.
2023 still sounds like was recorded yesterday, great arrangement of instruments
"Heather" reminds me of my crazy teens in the 70s Wistfully, longingly, and comparatively better.
I love these classical buildings and the aspirations to civic virtue, good governance and higher culture they represent. As for poor Mr. Elms--what a building to be remembered for...a glorious slice of immortality for a gifted human being. I understand the city really needed a charity hospital and sanitation works: Good on Liverpool and architect Elms nonetheless.
Those first notes of the Rhodes got me. I guess the first few notes coming from a Rhodes often do. Thanks for exposing us to another artist I never knew.
I’m here because of SNOWFALL. 🔥

Utterly magnificent. John's album is up there with "Free Form" and "Extrapolation". Wonderful stuff.
Brilliant album! I gifted a copy to my brother (former drummer and a big Billy Cobham and Miles Davis fan)
Beautiful player and man…South Africa should be proud of him. Love from Pakistan
🔥🔥🔥
I just had a sad thought...how many people will go through life never hearing this exquisite music? I've been fortunate enough to take a path that brought me here..and since you're reading this you have been fortunate as well.
