Just curious why you would pick a Suzuki Vstrom for a touring bike where you could also chose another guzzi like the Norge or Stelvio 1200. Could you clarify?
How much did it cost you, the clutch repair i mean.
I've just seen this review 3 years late. Loved the video footage onnthe Stelvio Pass. I think my Aprilia there around 2018. I've always loved the Griso but never got around to buying one. The small tank scares me. I sold the Falco a while back. I now have a 650 VStrom and a Moto Guzzi Le Mans IV. Love them both for different reasons. There's something glorious about the primitive tech on carburetted Guzzis. Love them. Thanks for the video. You have a new subscriber.
Thank you! I just refurbished mine and wrapped it in emerald green.. still loving her to bits, the small tank wasnât a big issue for me Iâve done loads of touring and even the NC500 in the highlands without ever running out of juice. The Griso 1200 is fuel injected doesnât have carbs đ thanks for the sub
That LMIV wasn't primitive when new. Underappreciated! Enjoy
@@TYPE1media would love to see the new scheme. KC34 seems to have dropped many parts from their offering for GRiSO.
@@TioKimo yeah unfortunately I donât think they do much custom parts anymore, they also donât ship abroad.
@@TioKimo if you have a social media contact I can send you a photo
I have a V7 850 Special (Not a 1200 Griso.) but I can completely agree with you on your comments. The air filter thing is a good one. A stock air filter flows plenty of air and only cost a few pounds, "When you need to change it." I've just checked in there on my bike as it is a year old and there is NO DUST whatsoever! The oil levels on most Moto Guzzi are very critical and "less is better" than too much. The simple design of these engines is their strength and gives them good reliability.
Loud, angry, roaming, purring, screaming. What a bike. Thanks for showing the world what a moto guzzi griso can be
Got my Griso 1200SE! Picking it up soon đđđ
You throttle body full of crap coz the 1200 has a fuel evaporation canister which feeds crap back in... you can remove it.. the 1100 doesn't have that. The k&n filter is great Owned my 2008 1100 for 14 years.. and I'm still in love with it... The toughest most robust bike ever made.... way better and more reliability than any BMW ever made... Only a few minor issues
Very informative ! Thank you ! Subbed in .
Thank you.. itâs now 8 years of Guzzi Griso, still loving it
My tents in ITALICS haha đ. Liked and subscribed.. Got the tent. Got the cooker. Got the cameras.. GOT 100 BUNGEE CORDS.. NC500 here we come.. đ đ đâ€â€đŻđ€đđđ
Is this stock or adjusted?
Not stock
Paper filters cannot be bettered these K&N things are a scam.
"Paper filters cannot be bettered". If you are looking for maximum dirt filtration and engine longevity, stick ONLY to paper element. All other filters are not filtering all it should. I had K&N air filters on different vehicles for 20 years and saw all the crap that made it past the "filter" and into the ducting before the throttle body. Not worth it. đ©đ
Hi. Where did you buy the license plate mount for the Griso?
Hey there.. itâs from KC34
I donât own a Griso, but I certainly would like to. Thank you for your video, it hasnât altered my opinion on the Griso and eventually I will purchase one. I own a Kawasaki 500 Mach 3 H1A triple so I love and appreciate motorcycles that are different, to me being outside normal is very appealing. Warmest regards from New Zealand
Are they MPH on your speed?
You are very courteous rider, a man after my own heart.
Thank you for the viedeo, I just bought used a 1100 Griso and I can't wait to pick it up next week.
You wonât regret it đ
Lol,parts allover the flor, realy good way to do it đ€Łđ€Łđ€Łđ€Ł
Thanks for your video. What brand/make was the air filter?
Pipercross
Pipercross
@@TYPE1media thanks. I will avoid putting this brand into my V85TT đ
Its seems ridiculous to me you speak if all this maintenance and changes that you do, then say if you do this its a reliable good bike. Thsts an oxymoron surely?..compare this to any japanesel bike, it sounds like a nightmare..im not trying to be mean ..but you have after this put me off these machines..perhaps sadly,.. completely.
If you watched properly and be knowledgable about Guzzi you will know that the only reason I had to do all the maintenance is because Iâve messed with it myself. As said in the video, keep the bike stock, do the regular services and youâll have 0 problems. Enjoy
Never saw a video of a guzzi that way! Did you tune your machine ? Or is it all stock except that exhaust đ
I flashed the ECU with a different map to run on open pipe.. I have a video called riding it like I stole it if you want more âsportyâ riding.. that one is on the stock exhaust due to Italian police being hotter on non standard exhausts.
How tall are you?
porca troia che bestia, complimenti Ăš bellissima!
Generally those type of air filters require oil on them to catch fine particulates. I donât know the make of the one youâre holding but a K&N which is similar looking to yours, needs to be cleaned and oiled often. Your valves usually take a beating when dirt is introduced into the engine.
Thatâs what I thought.. thank you for clarifying that for everyone else đ
@@TYPE1media I should have stated I found my way to your video because I found a Griso in my area for sale with low km and a good price. I appreciate your video, I might just have to go see this bike in person. Thank you.
@@torkd14 I hope you will get it mate! Cracking bike as said in the video âđŒ
that sounds good... i need to get a griso, does the audace sound like this too?
All Guzziâs if you change the exhaust đ
That Griso of yours sounds like it means business.. Very envious. I've yet to see one. I live at the western end of the Pyrenees and it would be ideal for blatting up those mountain passes. Would you say there would be enough room for a 6'2" rider? (Looks like Henley?)
What exhaust are you running on this Griso?
Up
I discovered over 20 years ago these garbage fictional hi flow air filter that let dirt into your engine. Dynoed a ferrari 308 qv 20 minutes apart, lost 5 bhp on a K&N. I always say go on a diet first, loose 5kg body weight, cheaper and healthier than a junk filter if your qualifying for grid position in a race its a different story.
Yeah.. I learned that lesson as well! Thank you for your comment đ what do you ride now?
@TYPE-1 I have multiple bikes, one being a v7 850, on the long slow search for a Griso SE , has got to be the best muscle naked that very few people are aware off
Fabulous đ thanks for sharing.
Thank you đ
Beautiful
i love moto guzzi more than anything else
My cbr 125 has 47k milage and I've never changed the oil lol đ
Great Road!
I loved the raw thumping sound of the Griso 1200 , so characterful full of soul. I wish it was available in India đźđł đą đ.
Your bike is running great after new parts from the major service. I love my Griso too, it is great fun to ride.
Yeah! Absolutely a beast of a machine! Thanks for your comment mate đ
Thanks for sharing your experience with the bike. Did you have to grease the rear suspension bearings at the pivot points? I have heard the factory did not grease those bearings.
No worries..I never greased the rear suspension if Iâm totally honest, not had any issues with it
Nice review
Thank you!
Nice riding there mate! I'm feeling to bet that the front of the motorcycle is really the thing that gives you the feeling to chase after because I see you dropping gears for the grunt, even though this motorcycle can actually tolerate and perform on high gears with low speed . I had the opportunity to get a griso but found an Aprilia Dorsoduro 1200 for cheaper and with ABS and traction control, so I opted for that instead. However I feel in my later years I'd go looking for the griso regardless.....
Thank you mate! I like the Dorsoduro đ. Yeah the Griso has lot of torque at lower rpmâs too but itâs around 5000 that itâs really explosive so when I ride in âsportâ mode Iâm always after that torque peak
Great trip dude. How do you attach the Givi to the tank???. Need to find the adaptor for my 20L tanklock tks buddy!!!âïž

Just bought a griso. And living in a predominantly flat part of Canada, this brings me joy. Bar the camper vans of course.
Theyâre so frustrating arenât they đ well done with buying a Griso.. youâll love it
The more I ride it, the more I love it. Hard to understand at first, but after you get used to the quirks, oh yeah.
I have a Ventura Pack Rack on mine. I have the same tank bag, the exactly same bike. I have done 42000km on it since new. Has been working great. I do have the little guzzi fairing on mine. :-)
Itâs an amazing bike! Where did you get your tank lock from?
THat's a very nice series of joined up bends! Bit of UK road surface here and there though, eh? I'd have been riding it very differently on my T3 Cali (a very different bike), with a lot fewer gear changes and "Days Like These" playing on the headset ((o; Tech ask: you have a lav mic from the Zoom recorder picking up exhaust noise?
Yeah road surface was surprisingly less smooth than I remembered it been 3 years ago. I love the Cali.. very nice bike Barry! To be honest Iâve been very lazy with the recording and I only had the zoom recorder inside my tank bag and did a bit of Equalising in Post.
@@TYPE1media appreciate you taking the trouble to satisfy my curiosity!
@@barryconway no Drama! My pleasure đ
A couple of bum clenching moments there. Or is it me getting old? Btw how is the griso now after all the work you had done? Looks like you have total confidence in it and are enjoying it.
I try to always leave a bit of slack even when going full bananas.. I think the only moment in this video was some potholes I did not expected on top of getting a bit late on the brakes.. I love it! Iâm not sure I would get a different bike as of right now even if I could.
đSimilar experiences on mine. A little love and hate bike. I have not had any serious issues with mine. It's not good for offroad. I have stock cpu mapping at the moment. Ruff engine below 2500 rpm. I think it is comfortable to run a maximum 1000km a day. The seam on the seat was red, that has faded.. đ
only 360p ?
I uploaded today.. itâs still converting on the cloud.. itâs 4k
@@TYPE1media Aaaah, That makes sense.
My 1100 Griso is the best all-round Guzzi I have owned, it kind of combined the best atibutes of my prior guzzi's. I did 3 mods. 1. LED headlight lamp and LED hi and low driving / flood lights. 2. Carbon fibre slip on that was designed and tuned for the 1100i. 3 found a set of tyres that suited my riding style and the bikes handling. I was warned to not use any non genuine air filters including oil type like k&n Negitives 1. I am 6'1 and found that I was a bit cramped. More peg room needed 2. Watch the rear brake....it can be easily and unintentionally locked under hard breaking. Finding less aggressive pads helped. When riding with a group, on straights and open corners, the griso didn't have the proformance (although still very acceptable). in the tight twisties, I could out corner and out torque many more modern machines. Best parts about owing griso, people think it is a relatively new bike, not a 2006 as they are one of the most unique production bikes ever made with a ageless style. Unfortunately it was completely submerged in the recent floods in north NSW. RIP đ to my faithful Griso. Hard part is finding a new one.
Hi there. I have a Breva 1100 and the clutch is noisy when you disengage it, ie pull the lever in. People say it is normal but how noisy is normal?
Hello! Itâs a dry clutch and yes itâs normal to have a bit of rattle⊠Guzziâs are like people.. theyâre all a bit different so itâs difficult to know whatâs normal and what isnât.. personally Iâd say that if it sounds like beans in a metal tin or like gentle scratching itâs normal.. if you have squeaking or knocking then get it checked.
What are your thoughts on the oem ecu? It's located just above the exhaust headers and when it gets hot (like every stop light) the fueling/performance gets very inconsistent.
Hey Mark, Iâve not had that problem on mine.
