Know it was a year ago but can you remember how to disconnect the alternator plug at the 7 min mark? Trying to sort an issue on my car and the plug is stuck fast, guessing there is a latch of some sort but stuffed if I can work it out. Thanks

It can be done by a competent DIY mechanic or local garage with the locking tools, but really is better left to a specialist. The crankshaft oil seal should be changed together with full timing chain kit including all guides and tensioners. Probably over £3000 for that work.

Dont refuse to do it. They're so easy. Gearbox off. Engine out. Rear cover off, upper cover off. You will have to take the cam box off, as sometimes they break the followers. But not always. No need to take head off. £3500 + job. Can do these within the day. Parts including chain kit and gaskets rear oil seal etc about 300. These are paying the mechanics down my way. I do these daily. Take it on. Really easy job.

They are not too bad of a job to do, the cost of the tools is not cheap, and the damage caused is usually minimal. The valves are directly over the pistons,so the valves don't normally get badly bent. Damage to the valve gear is possible if the car was running at motorway speeds. The labor to remove the engine will be costly as it takes a while. The problem with doing the job is knowing where to stop spending. Ask me how i know😭😭😭

Just figuring out that Porsche, Skoda, VW all used the same alarm siren which uses a Ni-Amh battery directly over the PCB and when it fails it draws from the main battery along with destroying the PCB, you can only tell by cutting the casing open. Only thing I've seen close to that is old arcade machines, poor batteries and poor design.

I have a 1.6 Diesel 2020 Model Opel Insignia vehicle. And the P0299 error code does not go away. My vehicle is on a ramp and bottom throttle goes into error in 3rd and 4th gears. Turbo overhaul, Particle filter overhaul. Map and Egr valves changed. Air filter changed. But the problem did not go away. How can I solve the problem

Prob is the sensor right side and right of the batterie ! Sensor with 2 hoses

Thanks for the video, always good too be able to see how things look BEFORE you start a job... Helps cut down on the headaches you get during! Personally i wouldn't go to all the trouble of getting the bearing off and replacing it + the ABS ring, and NOT replace the sensor while i was already in there. The sensor is like 10 pounds, so i'd just tear it out and put in a new one while i was already in there, and that way i'd know that the problem was definitely fixed and that i won't have to go back in there again in the forseeable future. That's just me though. If money was tight and the priority was to get it fixed as absolutely cheaply as possible, then i understand why you might take a chance on leaving the old one in. Cheers!

I have the j12 mild hybrid 1.3 158hp and i have a faint coolant smell on the right side of the engine ( standing in front of engine) after a drive, i reported this with dealership and while i was in for a service they replaced the thermostat housing under warranty just to be precaution but i still smell it , the coolant level stays the same so no apparent coolant leak , any ideas? , before the thermostat housing was replaced the level dropped about 2cm over the course of one year

If you got that relay to work by twisting the leg there is a good chance that the fine coil wire connected to it is fractured and may fail again.

Ref alternator. Undo the top engine mount and bottom dog bone mount and pull engine forwards about 1 inch. Give more clearance

Hi Bob. Loved the video.. I had multiple problems with the 'roof' after the winter, Very similar in terms of the sensor. I replaced sensor and checked the C pillar wire but no joy. Found out that... the battery was knackered. replaced that and hey presto, bobs yer uncle and it jumped back into action. next up.. flashing dashboard... no not like some dodgy VHS video, but a dancing speed and rev counter with chistmas tree lights on the dash. took it to a BMW specialist, and found out the instrument cluster was gone. Do I think that the low battery destroyed the cluster... probably! anyway, the e89 35i is back on the road and putting a smile on my face!!!

hi guys, I have the exact same issue on my car with the same year and engine. im getting both fault codes p22000 for the nox sensor electrical fault and code P06DA00 for the oil solenoid valve open circuit. my engine light is on. I noticed your scanner told you to ignore the P06DA00 code after you replaced the nox sensor. are these codes related somehow as i read the sump has to come off to replace a bad wiring loom from the oil pump to the outside of the block. ant help would be great please.
