Incredible smoothly running and clean! 😍 I think the loudest noise is coming from the oil burner.
I’ve actually sat in 4014’s cab last year during a private tour of UP’s steam shop and roundhouse in Cheyenne, WY. It was pretty warm in there. Ed Dickens blew the whistle for us as well. It was fun being up close with it. 844 is still doing well despite not having been run since 2019.

My Grampa, my dad and both my uncles worked on the steamers including 4014 "The Big Boy"!! They all worked the shops in Cheyenne. I was born and raised in Cheyenne saw the graduation of steam to diesel electric. I'm quite sure I would have worked for UP also except they closed the shops in Cheyenne and Dad didn't like North Platt or Salt Lake.
Was this with the Treadstone Manifold ? Or did you swap to something else ? Came here from that quarter mile vid with the W58 trans
I still have the same manifold installed to this day. Haven’t switched. And that 1/4 mile vid was days after going turbo. Like 15 passes under boost but many weren’t recorded.
@@bdub215 I'm thinking of going with the Treadstone Manifold for My NA-T Build, especially since I plan to run with the dizzy still on, will this fit a Borg Warner S369-SXE just fine? I've also looked into a CX-Racing Manifold with the newer design that has the turbo flange further out back to clear some space for the distributor, been stuck since then lol
@@SentientOrang that’s the turbo I currently have installed. It will be tight against the shock tower. But it fits. I’ve had mine in for about 4 years.
From a semi well versed industrial technicians standpoint, this is terrifying. I would not ride or drive that thing. But, MOJOR thanks to those who do!

Most of the people who get to ride the cab are either steam crew, VIPs with UP or pilot engineers. It sure would be an amazing experience for a normal train fan
