As a kid you enjoy the movie, as an adult u understand the movie, damn if u rethink the entire plot its just heartbraking all the 3 characters are suffering in their own way. Manny lost his family due to the humans (we see that in his flashback it was propably even his very family the drawing was about) everyone is walking towards south, except for manny, ice age is comming but maybe he lost his will to live and is walking towards north. Then sid who is so special and annoying his family abandoned him and left him behind, (later when hes seeking shelter with manny he mentiones that this happened at least i think 3 times in the past) his familiy doesnt give💩 about him. And diego also lost family bc of the humans but the leader of the pack is so obsessed with revenge he tells him to bring him the baby or he will kill diego,he also sends him out alone, if hed have faced the humans again hed be killed for sure. Then later manny and sid find the baby and maybe the mother remembered manny when she saw him. But manny saw a mother and her baby fighting death, like his wife and kid, he could have chosen to not save the kid to have his own revenge by letting the human kid die but he decides to bring the baby back even if it means to risk his own life. Ice age is not just a movie for kids its a movie with really sad and cruel but unspoken backstories, the storytelling is great as a kid u maybe dont get it but as an aduld you realize. Why did manny walk towards north, why was he shocked by the drawings, why did he hesitate to bring the baby back first? And later u realize all that. Ice age is a movie about forgivness and redemption and it will always be one of the best animated movies of all time.
