Here’s a basic video on the steps involved with loading and unloading a rollback or flatbed tow truck. Many have requested this video, so here it is. New to your channel and new to towing. Just completed day 2 of training and what’s kicking my butt is the controls to the bed. My trainer keeps telling me it’s like riding a bike. I just have to get us to the controls and your videos are extra extra special cause you explain step by step Thank you

Thats where your safety chains come in. I had them save me once when I forgot to put my hitch pin in. The trailer stayed attached but was rubbing the road. They would have prevented this.

The reason we all tilt the bed first after getting the car on the bed, then start rolling it up and put it down is because of posible damage to the black top.

One more question sorry when using the winds does a vehicle need to be in neutral
It doesn’t NEED to be, however to not damage the vehicle yes it should be in neutral
So here's a question is there a way when using the wrench that you need to use it depending on rear wheel or front wheel drive

I have a 1989 ford bluebird f600 I have a Lucas girling brake system, the bus is my house. I REALLY want to swap my cast iron rims and brakes for either an air brake system, or for a modern heavy duty truck hydraulic system. I figured the rear axle swap would be okay but what do I do about the front? I was figuring I'd install air brakes, I already held a cdla for years with airbrake cert and a school bus cdlb with passenger and airbrake... So... Should ve fine for me to drive if i swap it.
Your front brakes should be just regular caliper brake pad rotor setup, Lucas Girling is typically parking brake setup rear only: can also swap front axle from the same vehicle you find the rear axle from, just measure it

Why buy a truck with no basic understanding?
Proud owner of a 1991 f-600 with Lucas Girling. I plan the same swap but my Allison transmission has provisions for the parking brake on the rear. You could also add a micro lock in the hydraulic brake lines to “hold” the service brakes on when you take your foot off the peddle to lock all wheels for winching and such. Thanks

Do you think towing can be done as a seasonal job ? Like In the winter time , with own tow truck
It sure can, however it would get tricky to find an insurance policy that would only cover the truck for the months you’re using it, then cancelling insurance for the months you’re not.
You need 3 triangles for dot inspection. Only 2 puts you out of service
I noticed the same thing after recording the video, I had put the rest of the triangle set in and 2 foldable cones as well afterwards

If the GVWR is under 26,001 you do not need a CDL. However some states require a chauffeur license. No particular classes are required but they do help !

Nice tutorial. What is a reasonable price for a 20 yr old truck with 200k or so on the odometer?
To be honest mileage doesn’t matter as much as overall condition, rust, etc. I’ve put $20k into my truck over the 2 years I’ve had it. It’s the cost of business, and if still value it at about $18k. I actually have it listed for sale on marketplace at $18k

Looks like an old Holmes 1625, they were good wreckers back in their day, rated for 25 tons but worked like a 30-35 ton

So a tip for loading at an angle like that is go against what you would initially believe, Don't set the bed up as close to straight as possible if you are going to end up that angled anyway because then you will only partially straighten it then you will fight it the whole rest of the way, especially if you can't steer it, Instead go even more crooked and line the bed up with the far side axles so when you are finished spinning it with a snatch block it is directly in line with the truck.
100% however had to consider that I could not block a drive through entrance or the fuel pumps on either side of the truck, but you are correct, the car shifter cable was broken and stuck in park from what I remember
@@TheTowBro well the nice thing is at almost any angle you can line it up with the far side axle as opposed to the front, it’s just often guys don’t think of that and try to go for the shortest distance to the edge of the bed then fight it being crooked the whole way up.
