History + Music = Win?
War is not an independent phenomenon, it is an incredibly stupid chain of events.
I make anti-war music videos (because apparently if I don't state that outright people think I'm Dick Chaney or something)
It should be noted that the creation of a video is not an endorsement of the content within said video.

The Real Siege of Jadotville - A Congo Documentary
Go to ground.news/majorsamm for local perspectives on global issues. My link gets you 40% off the Ground News unlimited access Vantage plan.
The Siege of Jadotville was one of the largest battles of the UN deployment to Katanga, for five days 159 men from the Irish, Swedish and Norwegian contingents of the ONUC fought off some 600 - 1,000 Katangese Gendarmes and mercenary officers.
Despite the battles fame nowadays, there's no comprehensive documentaries covering the battle and as viewers of this channel well know, the film does more harm than good. So this is my attempt to shed some light on what went on there for those five days, primarily through the eyes of A Company, 35th Infantry Battalion.

Despite making a lot of edits this video is likely to be taken down very quickly so enjoy it while you can. It was originally supposed to be released on the 29th. I watched the Siege of Jadotville for the first time since it was released a few weeks ago. I've read a few books since it came out and wanted to see if it held up... it didn't. This isn't a comprehensive "everything wrong with" nor i...

So this film directly inspired my thesis that I wrote to graduate from college. I'd have to double back cause I think a half truth or two made it in there (mea culpa) but I do think this film has some value. Maybe not as a historical drama as it has extremely focused points of interest in the story, but it has value to bringing this era to light. Without it and a course I took in college, I would never have gotten the idea for my research (into a larger topic where Jadotville was but a footnote). I will also say that mining companies did have a role to play in this due to the planned nationalization of the mines but it also glosses over the very real tribal issues in the DRC that exist to this day. I think if this movie was a tv series instead of a movie, we could get a better idea of the complexities of everything and not simplify a bunch. It doesn't excuse some of the critiques, but I do think it would've helped with bringing more of the story to light (I see a bunch of the other contingent issues coming down to budget issues honestly). Overall I like the movie, its a good action film that gets people into history. I would prefer it to be way more accurate (as a historian should) but it is a good starting point for more material on the Independence Crisis and can get people interested in a topic that is seldom taught anywhere.

The day Man stepped into the realm of Myth and Legend.
Well, story of my grandmother is slightly different from the others. On 21st August, she was in Denmark on an organised trip. They had to stay in Copenhagen for a few more days and she was worried that they will not let them go back. She knew only very little about what actually happened, because she spoke only German (and Czech). Many people from their group stayed there, but she went back. They were almost smuggled back in buses to Czechoslovakia through West Germany, they couldn not leave the bus for many hours. When they finally returned back, she described how all the signs were overpainted or overwrited, soviet tanks were standing everywhere, people were protesting and soldiers were confused, because their generals told them that they are going to liberate us and the people will welcome them.
Interesting video, but the seriously weird accent - Yankified Northern English - makes it almost unwatchable. And while you claim to have put lots of effort into research you clearly make no effort o lean how most of the names (both people and place) are pronounced, which is just plain ignorant. Salisbury - not pronounced correctly. Selous Scouts - not pronounced correctly. Many more than that. Who on earth was 'Kim Flowers'? You didn't even get the guy's name right, let alone pronounce it correctly.

As the son of a veteran of this war, I am personally not interested in whether the video or whoever reads this is British or Argentine; But today is June 14 and it is a very moving date for me. I am sorry that this war happened because of all that it entails, I am sorry that my father was wounded in combat, I am grateful to those doctors and staff who took care of him. I hope those lands never have to see another war again. Thanks for everything dad.

And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart. -Jeremiah 29:13 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish, but have eternal life. -John 3:16 Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out. -Acts 3:19 If you are in North America, please go check out any of the churches available to you: OPC, PCA, Rpcna, Urcna, or a Canrc church (These are conservative and actual Presbyterian/Reformed churches) If you can’t find one of the conservative presby churches then, maybe an Lcms Lutheran church. If you’re Scottish, I recommend the Free Church of Scotland and the APC. (Different from the Church of Scotland) If you’re English I recommend the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in England & Wales and the Free Church of England (Different from the Church of England) Also online you can look up church finders for each of the groups, it will show you locations. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. -Hebrews 10:24-25
