I sometimes ride a steel 1980 Motobecane with a 2X6 (52/42, 13-23) gear system (downtube shifters, of course). I also ride an alloy 2000 Allez with 53/39 chain rings and an 11-21 "corncob" 9-speed cassette. I'm a couple of weeks short of 64 years old. These are the gear ranges pros rode for decades. It's all in one's strength and fitness.

I just ordered a gravel bike and now i learn about beach bikes. Those sounds like a better option to complement my roadbike with 28mm. Road<CX<Gravel<Beach bike

I just get my bike to the lbs, let them degrease and apply wax at the start and end of the outdoor (4 months) season, in-between start/end i reapply with dripp wax every 300km. Costs me just a few bucks on top of regular service and saves me the hustle with solvents (no need to buy or get rid off the spill) and time. But im not pro or semi pro.

I have 4 chains in rotation for my road bike on which I ride 300km per chain before re-waxing with Molten Speed Wax (I don't use drip wax). I have done over 15.000k now and never want oil again. Also the chain last longer as there is less wear (I am checking this with a parktool chanin tool).

Normal people have 15 hours to train a week? Not me

imagine how light it'd be and the feeling of this bike with direct mount rim brakes, just imagine.

Foremost, sun protection for my nose, neck and cheeks. Then, lightweight and cool as possible, along with max breathability for competitive all-out exertion. Non-fogging of glasses. Easy opening for mouth -- food and drink on the go. These are my priorities, but possibly difficult to incorporate all.

U mentioned the Fuji in the Cannondale comparison vid….so here I am…. I actually still own every bike I’ve had in my 30 year riding career….my ‘89 Cannondale 3.0 Criterium, my 2001 Specialized Stumpjumper pro….and my 2005/06🤔…Fuji Team SL….with a stated catalog weight exactly as the SST at 16.6 pounds….originally spec’s with 9 speed Ultegra, I had my shop swap it out for 10 speed Campagnolo Chorus….the original wheels were not stiff enough for my liking….my Cannondale had a set of Rolf Vector Pros which are/were incredibly stiff for the spoke count 16/14, rear/front….i bought a Campy zones rear wheel and I would swap my Rolf front onto the Fuji when I rode it….that is how the bike stands now with some other changes being the crank and seat post….its still under 17 pounds and I’ll add it’s a Aluminum frame…

I just built up a 1989 Cannondale 3.0 Criterium frame set…. The identical to my first road bike, apart from the color….it seems the reason my first 3.0 was so fast, was that I was all of 18 years old…..🤷🏻‍♂️….but I still love the 3.0 series and what USA produced Cannondales represent…. Aerodynamics matters….but I don’t want a high strung bike that needs special attention multiple times a season…. But I do want to be as fast as I can be even at 47, soon to be 48 years of age….apparently it’s going to cost $12,000😂😂😂….and feeling like a bit of a sellout

OZ Cycles is the one who invented this process and his method if degreasing chains is fool proof and easy

Have done the 4 main stelvio routes many times (only on Rouvy though). One thing I have noticed is that when you get to the switchbacks - the left turns drop the incline gradient by approx 2% whilst the right turns increase the incline by around 1 to 2 %. If you are aware of this you can gain maybe an extra 2 mins faster time. Maybe i will get to do the real thing one day

Use petrol to degrease the chain. You need a strong solvent and that does it.

Big fan of gasoline for initial cleaning then degrease with denatured alcohol as recommended by OZ cycle guy in Australia. He has exhaustive testing/videos and works for all my bikes. Just saying
