I learned to never try cleaning in place. Waste of time. You should really pull and clean that since it's the only real way to clean out the evaporator and the drain pan. Might be back if the gunk you knocked loose clogs drain pan and they will company you just cleaned it. Best to do it right the first time.

My ac guys dont get paid to remove a fan, just to suck out some dirt. If you pull thise wires lost that's 200 to 600 repair for a 49.00 check up. Not worth the liability 😮😮

Real techs can we have a discussion on pulling and cleaning the blower ? I mean if its visibly dirty i could see doing that but i almost never felt the need, largely because the time it would have taken to wipe down every fin would have taken longer then my boss at the time would have allowed per Tune-up. What do yall think, yay or nay on pulling and wiping down blower ?

When you hire a maintenance person if you're hiring for the skills. Remember when you do it yourself yes you'll save money I hope you know how to put it together because if you don't you're probably going to have to hire somebody to reinstall it or to fix it. Maintenance is not a scam. If you can do it yourself you should it'll save you a lot of money. There's customers that don't want to pay the cost because of inflation. Where is bad companies to say the least. But there's a lot of great service men and people.

My York 3 and 4 ton units are 19 years old. Of course there have been leaks in the evaporator coil, but luckily the easy seal I put in each unit seems to have taken care of that issue for now.

Yeah but 500 bucks to clean it is. You can hose it down with water. In fact some manufacturers say no chemical washes. And don't cover in the winter.

I think that they are voicing what many think that maintenance cost is a scam until they see the repair cost. As the saying goes a once of prevention is cheaper than a pound of cure. I have seen companies run equipment into the ground because they did not want to pay for maintenance and later cry with the repair costs and downtime
