Push-up challenge finale 23 06 2020
I was challenged by my old medical school friend Penny Pawson to do at least 25 Push-ups per day for 25 days to raise awareness of PTSD, anxiety and depression that drives some to suicide. This is my final day, when after a few beers to steady myself, I attempted at least 50 reps (1 for each year of my life). Here's what happened

Understanding urinary catheters: An introduction
zhlédnutí 31KPřed 4 lety
A description of how urinary catheters work and what catheter drainage options are available eg. leg/night bags (which keep the bladder empty all the time), and flip-flow valves (which allow the bladder to fill and empty as close to possible as normal). CORRECTION: The number on the catheter is the CIRCUMFERENCE of the catheter in millimetres.

Salvage HoLEP after 2 previous green light laser surgeries

HoLEP can be used after failed green light laser surgery and has been demonstrated to be significantly more durable than green light vaporisation of the prostate as it removes all of the obstructive BPH tissue rather than just a part of it
HoLEP for 560g prostate

Laser enucleation of the prostate is the only endoscopic procedure feasible for ANY size prostate, and is a safe alternative to open prostatectomy. There is no upper size limit. This is one of the largest documented HoLEP cases which has involved tissue morcellation rather than cystotomy to remove the enucleated prostate lobes

The beauty of this simulator it is that the actual holmium laser and HoLEP instruments are used, and the model contains a realistic anatomical plane between adenoma and capsule.

The Holmium laser can be safely used to fragment any size and type of bladder stone at the following settings: Energy = 2 Joules, Frequency = 50 Hertz, giving Power = 100 Watts. This allows rapid stone fragmentation with excellent visualisation. Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP) can then be performed if neces...

Do not use a bladder syringe they have caused bladder injuries in the past hence why we don’t use them anymore. Special irrigation sterile bags can be prescribed by your gp. You can then be trained to do this yourself. High risk of urosepsis with catheters, cleanliness is paramount

I have used Foley catheters for three years now. I stopped using night bags because the catheters would end up getting clogged. I have a day bag which first thing in the morning I connect and it fills up which I drain right away. This seems to keep the catheter well flushed. drink plenty of water in the morning. I often keep the day bag connected for an hour or two. Once the bag stops collecting I disconnect it and place a clamp made for catheters. For the first two years I wore long pants to hid the catheter. Drain it as it filled up. Again I found the it would get clogged. Since I started using the clamp method I have not had to visit the er. When I was using the night bag if I failed to drink enough water during the day my catheter would be clogged in the morning. Before I got sleep I drink two glasses of water. Fist thing in the morning I connect to my day bag and drain. Works very well. A lot less stress.

I was born with spina bifida, been using intermittent catheters for around 25 years, i am about to have an op for a urethral stricture and its been suggested thst i change from intermittent catheters to a suprapubic catheter or other. Its up to me and from what ive seen i think i would prefer to stick to how im doing it, other ways just seem like too much hassle.

@tevaho This is a wonderful video. Very helpful because I just learned about the flip-flow valve. I wish you’d pay more attention to women’s issues. I’m a woman and I have uribe retention, therefore the doctor put in a catheter until my insurance approved a bladder stimulator. I’m hating the bags, the straps, so I bought the sleeves, the changing of the bags, etc, my granddaughter is graduating next week and I don’t know how the valve works. Thank you

I'm hoping to have my catheter taken out on the 1st of may. Is it ok to have a catheter on without the flip flow on it please could you let me know thank you very kindly

I agree that a patients may be taught to do this for themselves. Nurses are taught this as a sterile procedure using ,sterile gloves, sterile solution and cleansing of the connection site with an alcohol or chlorhexidine wipe before disconnecting to do this. Patients could have a stock of these things in the home in case they may need to do this. The water you buy bottles from a shop is likely clean but is not sterile.Having the right stuff to do this would reduce the chance of introducing infection.....otherwise, all very helpful tips.

I had hernia surgery and the surgeon and hospital released me without determining if i could urinate.Six hours later I had to go to the ER for a catheter to relieve the excruciating pain and had a catheter put in place. ER gave me no instructions if I had complications. This video would have been a great help.

Hi , yea it went well , you dont feel a thing obviously as your out cold, you will wake up with water being flushed through the parts that they have quarterized , you will note the color of the bags of water that they will take away periodically , take a note of how red the color of the bags are, that will give you an indication of when the bleeding slows down, then they will take you to a ward where you will spend the rest of the day and night hooked up to that water flushing system, then in the morning the consultant will come round and check on the color of the bag , by now it should be pinkish , then the nurse will be instructed to remove the catheter , that only takes a a few seconds and not really painfull, a little embarrasing if your not used to a nurse handling your bits, , so then they will get you to pee at least three times , and once they are satisied you can, then your sent home that same day, it will sting a bit at first, and you will also still pee pink urine for a day or so, im fine now and everything still works how it used to , still get good erections and havent lost the firing pin lol@@kennyl.TheSilverJewelryGuy
