Looking good keep up the great work , In the next month or so iam going to be starting a 2.8 in black on a C reg , I will be fabricating a roll over jig , could you please tell me the hight from the ground to the pivot point, so the car will roll over . Regards Ian
I will give it a measure tomorrow afternoon for you
We have a full Race 1970 Cortina MK 2 and I have designed and fabricated a custom front strut, using an original strut. Once stripped the 1st thing I do is run a custom made die to repair the tube threads (a piece of 6” of solid steel 2” diameter) , next strip all paint off the struts, remove the coil spring bottom plate. I then install a 2”ID x 3/8” wallsteel tube over the original tube and weld it in place at the hub- no weld at the top as it serves as the collar base for the coil over lower mount . I fabricated my own camber adjustment plates- 2 piece with thrust bearing between them. I have a pair of the upper mounts you showed on the Bilsrein set up but prefer to do my own caster adjustments from the control arms. But that is another story. Gerald Elliott Nova Scotia , Canada.
That sounds like a good set up to me I like to make custom parts but I'd need more space and equipment 👍
Great video. I will give it a go. Thanks
What did you use to clean inside box sections were leaf springs attach ? Tia
Just wire wheels on a drill but the best tool was the power file
Hi I have a pair of original bilstins but it doesn’t have the nut at the top is it at the bottom
Thay should have a small nut at the bottom and a big one at the top as bilsteins inserts are upside-down
I think there is a big nut at the bottom as at the top there’s only a metal ring cover as I’ve already taken the ring of and there are no threads
There of my mk1 rs2000 escort
The capri body is coming on solid na mate doing some beautiful repairs
Thanks my dude
The pinto is the best you got
Nice!!! Looking good!!!!
Thanks my dude
Looking good ,
Thanks 👍 still more to go
@@RetroCarsReborn you are making a good job , it's not easy welding , I've worked on allsorts of cars from the early 80s up to present day , but the capri is my favourite, I know every inch of them must have rebuilt a good dozen of them over the years aswell as doing running repairs ,engine swaps over the weekend ready to go back to work Monday morning
Some decent welds in that! 👍
Thanks after welding cars for so long it's nice to be a little better 😀
Where did you get that garden hose spray nozzle from?
Woo! Delighted to see you back on this
Thanks the next video it taking some time to finish 😅
Next day wife complaining what happen to all the plants 😂
That's gonna stain
Can someone please give me the nam that instrument thst was used to produce the pipes
Anything works gonna happen if you go to shows and show it let’s it’s not gonna be concourse is it gonna be concourse? 😅😅😅😅😅
I doubt it will ever be concourse I just wanted this bit it look right 👍
Looking Good Lee!!! On shaping the little panel with the down turned lip. Chuck a piece of flat bar in the vice probably 13mm by 50mm or so. Mark your line and start to hammer down the lip over the edge a little at a time. Then refine the shape of the lip against the face of the steel plate. This will help to shrink the metal into itself. That is a weird reverse curve, so it is tough to make. Also, on the plug welds I'm thinking if you turn the heat up and the wire down. start in the middle and work outward the plug welds will almost lay flat and look like spot welds. There is a slight technique to it. You may want to do some practice runs to get it down. Like I said last time, Good to have you back!!!!! Looking forward to the next update!!!!
Thank you yeah iv got some more playing around to do when it comes to making shapes
@@RetroCarsReborn It is very Definitely a fun learning curve. I need to bend up some panels, but I have a ton going on still and it is going to be close to 100F (37C) this week. I'm not looking forward to it.
Nice one. I’m just replacing the rear shocks on my 1972 MK1 3.0 GT Capri. Last year I replaced the old rusty smiths heater box with a Mk3 Capri heater with new matrix etc. my bodywork is sound as it lived in South Africa for 50 years.
Nice the SA cars can be really good condition 👌 I had the choice to buy an SA escort or a UK one I chose the UK one big mistake on my part 😅
Mr Lee you have done a wonderful job so far it'll be beautiful wen it's done keep up the awesome work my friend 😊
Thanks pal yes only a little more to go now 😁
@@RetroCarsReborn it looks like it's really coming on well 👍
So many things wrong here. That thing must be clogged without it dripping a single drop before he used water. Then all over his yard. Nice. 😂
Lucky for me i havent bought this car, bought a volvo v70 p3 instead
Там через год будет так же😂
Why would you get that nice yard dirty like that?
Do we want to see whats in the oil pan😂😂😂
Great to see you back Lee! Keep up the good work and keep on inspiring the rest of us👍
Thank you! Will do plenty to do
Great stuff lee, im just finishing up my rear spring sections on my mk2 capri myself, keep it up man.
Sounds good to me I finally finished off the spring hanger on this one to il have that one edited for next week 👍
Good to have you back , I’m at a similar stage with mine 🙏👍
Thank you that's great im seeing more and more of them getting the love thay need in recent years
Not true lol I just bought some catless downpipes & headers for my 03 CL off eBay and I live in the US,, it’s 2024 btw
It’s nice to see you working on your Cree. Hope you’re feeling better. Best of luck mate.😮😮😮😮
Thank you yeah need it at a stage we're I can take it off the rotisserie this year 👍
Good to see you back
Thank you very much
Nice Job!!! Good to see you back!!!!
Thank you dude 🙏 nothing like your 50 but getting there
@@RetroCarsReborn I picked up a 54 Ford Skyliner around the first of February. But I've mostly been on the VW. Gonna get some 50 action when I get the Bridgeport up and running.
Keep up the great work , 👍
Thank you
Grate to see your back lee love watching your videos so far the work you're done on that capri is really good be like new wen finished 👍
Thanks mate 👍 we get yours sorted to
@@RetroCarsReborn thanks mate 👍
Good to see you back and busy!
Thank you much appreciated 👍
Use a string and measure the old pipe and then transfer that to the new pipe. The way he does it just isn't that accurate, IMO.
You mention a male double flare but no information about when this, rather than single flare, should be used.
Reaching end of life? In Canada that still looks mint.
Cheers matey! I bought a kit of ebay...no instructions🙄
Manufacturers like to do that it's like there new thing 👍
good joke 😂😂
Your strut tube retaining nut removal method is a lifesaver! I guess a heat gun is all the heat you can use on the tube, don't want it blowing up - this applies whether you have the original oil filled tube or an insert.
now your sidelights don't work anymore, only on the halos?
Yeah I wanted it that way plan on fitting vents with only indicators in the bumper
For the fat 90 degree vacuum pipe, I noticed there’s no clamps on it. I’ve been trying to install this over the weekend but have been really struggling with this pipe and getting clamps on it. Still all okay without the clamps? Will probably make my life so much easier haha
Yes still running without clamps on its got to be 2years atleast no problems 👍
Dont know why but bofi racing short shifter kit with its shifter and pivot ball bush doesnt fit in my nb 5 speed
What disc is that
It's the capri 2.8i discs
What's he latest? it was getting good. Hope you're still at it.
Iv yet to edit the latest videos but it's good news👍
Best walk through I've seen for this. Everyone else makes cuts in their videos of the parts I wanted to know about the most. Thank you!
Glad to see this video is still relevant and helping people thanks for the kind words 🙏
