I am a wife to a lovely Ashanti man, a yummy mummy to a bubbly baby girl and a finance lawyer in a global law firm in London. I was born in New York City to Ghanaian parents and grew up in Worcester, Massachusetts (a.k.a. Ghana, USA). l have also studied, worked and lived in many places around the world (including Atlanta, Accra and San Francisco) before settling down (for now!) in the UK.
I like helping people unlock their potential in life whether in the areas of finance, family, education or career. Hopefully the knowledge I’ve learnt so far in life can help someone else on their journey!

As a millennial mom of two little black Ghanaian girls growing up in the West, they must be confident and empowered despite growing up in a racially charged society that buries our history as black people and Africans.
As parents of black children, we all deal with a lack of black representation and school systems that downplay black and African history. We want our children to be strong, confident, love themselves, and know who they are.
Like you, I am the kind of mom who goes out of her way to find products, toys, books, activities, and experiences that empower, affirm, and educate my children about who they are beyond what society says about them.
This inspired me to invest my time, energy, and money into writing and creating my first children's book based on the Ghanaian warrior queen Yaa Asantewaa.
I think you and your children will love this book too! This book will allow you to give your child the gift of empowerment, confidence, self-love, and knowledge of who they are. Furthermore, the book is beautifully illustrated by a Ghanaian artist and features an adorable age-appropriate story based on a real-life heroine who led a successful resistance against British colonialism in one of the most famous African kingdoms in history.

You’ve inspired me to embrace my heritage. I’m also Ghanaian but was born in London, UK. I’m an Ashanti and I was not taught Twi by my parents. Sometimes I don’t feel proud to be Ghanaian because I can’t speak my native tongue fluently since English is my first language. I don’t have any Ghanaian friends but there’s a Ghana girls link up event in London so I’ll go there next year. It’s good to connect with people from your community. I have a Sierra Leonian friend who speaks Krio to her children and I wish I was from the same country as her so I can feel connected and we would’ve been able to relate more. Although we’re African but have different backgrounds. I feel so jealous that if I was a Sierra Leonian, we could relate and speak Krio but no we can’t. I should be proud to be Ghanaian though. I love our culture!

Culture is everything in the US. She was raised in Ghanaian culture in the household and is not a part of ADOS culture. There is a difference. She knows and understands the difference.

Thanks Claudia! I understand that every child is different and maybe there are emergency situations where you need to physically stop the child from doing something very dangerous. But at the same time, learning to communicate and take correction verbally seems very useful to me. And I think it would probably help them at school, in relationships and beyond !
