This channel was created to share our construction and remodeling processes. We handle a variety of construction related activities to include residential, commercial, industrial and government. Our services include general and finished carpentry, bathroom and kitchen remodeling, concrete and masonry, doors and windows, roofing and siding, drywall and painting, floor coverings, stairs and railings. We also do pressure washing and house washing, graffiti removal, demo, junk, debris removal, paving. We also handle structural repairs, house jacking, footings and support columns. Other services provided through sub-contractors include electrical, plumbing, HVAC. We also share some of our off work life activities to include family parties, boating and fishing, traveling and entertainment. All in an effort to maintain a healthy work/life balance. In this video we restore a house from the year 1780. We started at the foundation in the basement and work our way up. The house had settled and was leaning over ten inches to one corner. We jacked the house up to bring it to level and replaced all rotted framing. Hope you like it.

I hope so! It was a long time coming...now we have to try it in the water.
Anderson salesman sugar coated the installation process. He didn't explain that interior molding and original metal pieces had to be removed to get the old sashes out. This would be major disruption of window opening. Also they would cap the outside original wood molding. The price "quote" from Anderson started at $3,000 per window, would be reduced if you "signed today." I call that high pressure sales tactics. The original "sales pitch" I expected to be 1 hour long was in fact over 4 hour endurance contest! Who pays for this waste of time? We know who!
Thanks for the visit! I feel your pain. Window manufacturers have different methods and procedures to build their windows but they all have to meet the same energy conservation standards. Installation process may vary, depending on field conditions. Metal capping the exterior trims is a choice that some people use to cover old trims, hide chipping paint or lead paint and this add significantly to the overall cost.

The sealant to be used will depend on many factors, from the type of surface to the climate in the area. There are many options suitable for both interior and exterior applications, from sealants that require painting after it is applied to sealants that permanently seal the surface in one application. Window manufacturers and suppliers will have recommendations for your specific installation. Hope this helps.
That 1/8 gap on each side, won't the screws pull window apart a little without putting shims in before screwing ?
Hey Paul! Thanks for the visit. That is correct, if no shims are available, the installer would have to be very careful not to over tighten the screws.

Hey, gracias por la visita! El precio depende de muchos factores...empezando por el costo local y el tipo de materiales a usar. También tomando en cuenta si el trabajo es en el frio o en el calor. Otro factor es que tan deteriorado esta la estructura original. Con todo esto a tomar en cuenta esta pequeña reparación estaría entre $3000 a $6000 para el area donde yo vivo.
