Why Do You Postpone Yourself? | The Philosophy of Seneca (Stoicism)
We live in a world of constant motion, where the demands of daily life seem to perpetually pull us in a million different directions. Amidst the chaos, it's all too easy to lose sight of what truly matters - our dreams, our passions, our deepest desires. We tell ourselves, "I'll get to that later, once things settle down." But the truth is, later never arrives, and our aspirations remain forever postponed.
Seneca, the ancient Stoic philosopher, recognized this dangerous tendency and warned against it. He understood that postponing our lives, constantly deferring to the future, robs us of the present moment - the only thing we truly possess.
In this video, we'll explore why we tend to delay our dreams and aspirations, and how to break free from this self-imposed prison.
Thank you for taking the time to watch!

How jolly well splendid for good old Kierky....a white man in a white man's world ! Ask any woman in a country where women have no rights how freely she can choose the life she wants to live...her anxiety might be more about whether she will get a beating any given day by her father, husband, or brother, or any male she accidentally upsets with the slightest mistake. This because she failed to read his mind in advance. And of course there are poor people who are exploited or enslaved because they can't escape their master with their life. Their anxiety is about well everything they do or say, and whether they will meet a horrible end. I could go on, but I think I've made my point. Kierkegaard is delusional to think that everyone has a whole library of options in their life. Ignorant, self satisfied twit...he wouldn't have lasted one day in the life of someone who has to toil like a chained beast for a morsel of food. 😤😰🤔

As a man, I agree - As a father, I am devestated. Although the dark times made and still make me, who I am, the thought of my kids going through similar pain, kills me. I hope, I can give them the strength and the room to keep in touch with their inner child and true self, that, no matter what pain comes along, they don‘t feel lost. As always, great video!❤🙏🏽

    1. Never be afraid of separation, especially do not develop emotional bonding with material things. 2. Where ever you go, there you are. Location should not have affect on your mental peace. Be indifferent to where you live. 3. While feeling guilty helps in correcting your behavior, Regret kills your mental peace, and he never gave time for such things like regret. 4. Never feel jealousy. Because jealousy also consumes your time and makes you question your journey or self worth. He didn't have time for such self doubts. He only focused on his trainings. 5. Accept everything and especially do not label things as good or bad. Just take it as it is. 6. To know 10,000 things, know one well.

Our biggest mistake as a species is that we assume that we have qualities that we do not yet possess: we pay attention, but only sporadically; we choose freely, but only intermittently. Kierkegaard understood this.

For the past year and a half, I’ve been attempting to live a hybrid philosophy of Goggins/Musashi/ Sun Tzu/ Stoicism. Occasionally, I slip. But, Ive made more progress in the past 1.5 years than in the previous 5. I’m beginning to see results after months and months of self doubt. I spend every extra second of my life training in solitude. Going to the gym, running, boxing. I’m not training for anything specific but more for mental well being. When challenges or struggles come up in the future I’m ready. Whatever it may be.

Maybe Kierkegaard recognized that there's something potentially superhuman in the human capacity of forethought, to choose or determine the future through one's will. The meaning of faith, in this sense, is to be bound to freedom, or to live by one's true will, not to the will of god nor any sacred order nor law. The catch is that not everyone is equiped to realize their will, the deep intuition, or geniousness, that this requires, is an odd talent that awakens in few
