@@bernardwangg cool, i wanted to know more about the wise debit card if i can use it to pay for local things in VN such as a Grab/rideshare ? i try to have other cashless options while in Vn in case i cannot open up a bank account since i'm a foreingner.
@@Boobooli Most local stores accepts only cash or VN QR code payment - streetfood, street food shops, local small shops. Convenience store, supermarket, shopping malls accepts Visa and Mastercard which means you can use your WISE and YOUTRIP cards. Some restaurants and hotels might charge you extra 3% for using Visa/ Mastercard. For Grab, i am using my visa card from another Singapore bank but you can try your WISE card since the app supports visa/mastercard, very handy when you book your taxi from airport. NEVER get a cab outside of the app, there are many scams! NEVER follow anyone saying they are your driver before sighting their mobile phone's booking details. I posted a video on taxi scam in VN before. Look out for VP Bank and TPBank for one of lowest withdrawal fee. Enjoy your trip :D
@@Boobooli I strongly suggest you to have 2 Travel debit cards to spend and withdraw since free withdrawal have a monthly cap. You can sign up through my affiliate links at no extra cost to you: wise.com/invite/i/bernardw241 youtrip.onelink.me/3xWB/x82uq9wv

i tried dtac before covid, it was not very stable but i am not sure about now. i tried both ais and truemove both are reliable but i find truemove is value for money and good coverage. FYI you can only find truemove and dtac sim cards in 7-11.

Is AIS better or true move? Also 300 baht including data how many gb?
AIS is the best but can be 2-3 times more expensive depends on plan. 7-11 only sells truemove if i am not wrong. the plan i bought i think was unlimited data. if you ran out of data you can top up within the truemove.app using credit card.
in terms of cost effectiveness i think truemove has better value, good coverage and price.

@@iwrld1 thank you bro. 😎
A Vietnamese living in Singapore here. Kudos to your understanding of the local cuisine. Yes, once the moderation, a.k.a blandness of flavors grows on you, you will realize how nice a healthy meal can taste 😅
i really feel 'safer' for my health when i eat out in vietnam. because it is not loaded with oil, salt, chilli. but i think MSG is still present in the food haha.
The locals either shop at any "Co-Op" markets or the outdoor wet markets. I was at this mall when it open 15+ years ago and it was crowded. But over the years, it became less popular. Two years before Covid pandemic when I visited this mall, many shops closed. This was renovated and some life was put back into the mall. Now other malls have opened in Saigon that compete with this mall. Many foreign tourists don't visit malls in Vietnam because they have malls in their own country. When they travel, they don't feel like traveling to a place that they can do at home. As you mentioned, this mall feels like a mall in your home country Singapore. I hope that Saigon doesn't become a mall-centric city like Bangkok where life revolves around shopping malls. Cities in the US was like that in the 1980's and 1990's, but now, many malls are dying. The kids are bored with malls.
Hey Long, I dont dare to go to wet markets because i am not familiar with prices and do not want to pay foreign prices. I think most of the stores dont state their prices. I went a few times to Crescent mall, yes it is not very crowded here, but i kind of like this mall. it is bright and clean and my favourite shop - Muji is here. but again whenever i go i still feel the AC is not perfect yet. What are the top 3 best malls do you recommend in Saigon? I went to the following: 1. Crescent mall - aircon is decent 2. Lotte Mart - aircon is decent 3. Takashimaya - aircon is decent 4. Vincom and Parkson in D1 - Hot no aircon :( As a foreigner i only go to malls if i need to buy things from Muji and unqilo. I dont really eat in malls because they are expensive. i feel the reason why malls are so popular and always crowded is because of the trains that link to the malls directly. Super convenient. In singapore, alot of people dont need to go to town to do shopping, because we have neighbourhood malls that sells even high end products like SK-II, Shiseido etc, almost no need to go to town. Once saigon has more trains connecting in the city, the malls will have even more people. But i love the cafe culture in vietnam, all have different and unique vibes :D
Bernard, thanks for making and sharing the videos of your life. Glad you finally got a microphone too! Let me ask you a question. I think you have lived in Vietnam for several months now...do you feel you have more freedom in Vietnam than in Singapore?
Hey Long, thanks for asking. Yup I am so happy i upgraded my gears. Hmm, honestly i must say every country has rules to follow no matter where I go, it is only wise not to touch on sensitive topics like politics. As long as i can go about my daily life, i am happy and contented. But again, I am a visitor, I do not have the privilege to voice my concerns or suggestions in another country's domestic affairs. I love vietnam alot because it made me appreciate the little things i got in life. Also, once i get out of touristy spots in vietnam, i feel alot more relaxed too :) Let me know what you like to watch next on my youtube :D
