I always read the jacket as the smaller in stature and power Richie sending a message to Tony that he's taken down guys his size before. He even emphasizes about how it fits Tony perfectly and tells the fate of its former owner over and over to everyone that will listen, using it as propaganda against Tony and foolishly warning him that he looking to take him down.

I love that look from Tony towards Carmella at the end of the episode. I always took that look as Tony realizing no matter what, Carmella is loyal and will be there for him. That look on his face shows me regret for his actions and he almost looks as if in that moment he fell in love with his wife again, and there’s nothing he can do about it due to his actions. He knows Carmella is there for him in ways his mother was incapable of. James Gandolfini is amazing, great reaction as always boys.

Tony getting back for the Pizza is just Gold 😂

It’s episodes like this that really make Tony arguably the greatest MC in any media I’ve personally consume. Like throughout the series this guy could get me to love and loathe him at the drop of a dime. This episode is one of the glaring examples of where I legit could not stand him, like how low can you be to go after your nephew’s finance?

The Sopranos season 5 is my overall favorite season. After the slow moody 4th season, it comes out of the gate running but still retains that existentially funny and terrifying balance of banality and destruction. It’s also the season that finally won the Emmy for best TV drama… The game of telephone in this epsiode about the car accident is hilarious.

I really appreciate how affected you all were by the scene of Christopher beating Ade up. Not that long ago if 3 young guys were watching and saw that, theyd be like damn, hes trippin -and that would be the extent of it. Im not saying guys back 20, 30 years ago condoned it, but i was definitely seen as "their private business'. To see you all visibly disgusted makes me feel like times are changing, for the better. Its a hard scene to watch, but your obvious empathy for Ade & disgust for Cristopher helps. Keep up the great reactions!

this episode has everything - mob politics and interpersonal family drama, interesting self reflection by tony along with some great scenes with carmela, the brewing feud between him and christopher, some good melfi moments, fbi drama, the car crash, and tony b being the voice of reason and mvp. even minor moments like sylvio with the megaphone, tony coming back for the pizza, and paulie trying to help chris when they're in the meadowlands. also what an episode michael imperioli had ✋🏼 the scene with him, gandolofini, and buscemi in the car is brilliant - there's a lot of history between these characters and that's one of my favorite dynamics moving forward. every season of the sopranos just hits different, they're all stellar. this show has a remarkable level of consistency. the last four episodes of this season are genuinely astounding in my opinion and blew my mind, but that's arguably not even the shows best run. the entirety of 6b is the show at its peak

It's interesting too that at this point Tony B is the only guy who for sure believes him. He saw the same evidence.

Charlie buggin! For one divorce takes time and they have not started the process. Carm has no money on her own so she ain’t going dolo to Italy looking Furio when she knows Tony knows and would pit resources on finding them if she did something like that. She loves her kids and would never live that far away.

You guys really cut out the part where Carmela snaps on Tony? That’s some of the best acting ever.

I really think only The Sopranos can take a storyline like this and make it work. I remember when I first watched this episode and saw what was going on between Tony and Adriana and immediately started thinking it’s gross and it’s just not good and doesn’t work, but wow, it fucking works! And it’s just so realistic (which is probably the first big hurdle you have to overcome when writing a plotline like this), tense, sad, and at times hilarious. It’s really a masterful episode and an extremely brave one.

Meadow has her annoying moments but it’s episodes like this that really make me question when they say she’s worse than AJ. AJ legit is insufferable at times this episode being one of the biggest examples.

I think you guys missed one of Tony's funnier malapropisms when he asked Feech if he was telling another one of his "impermeable" stories (instead of interminable ). lol. The malapropisms in this show are hilarious. So many levels of hunor in the sopranos.

Jesus I was born 85 I was enjoying watching this channel until now. 😅now I feel like an old weirdo watching some kids watching the sopranos.

The title is probably a reference to "Anna Karenina" by Tolstoi whose opening line is: "All happy families resemble each other; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way". A very fitting influence considering how psychologically complex a lot of 19th century Russian literature is.

As a mother, that closing shot of Carmela hits home. During the toughest moments of my son's teen years I'd have those flashbacks too...to the sweet little boy he was & so many precious moments. Also the worries & fears. There's truth to the old adage...little kids, little problems...big kids, big problems. It may be normal & goes with the territory but damn, I remember the stress so well. I also remember the love, every step of the way. This show is so good at giving us relatable moments, even with characters whose lives are very different from our own. And for all Carmela's faults, anyone who thinks she doesn't love her kids needs to rethink that during scenes like this. As usual, thanks guys. Great discussion.🩵✨️🩵
