I was hoping to see a documentary. Instead what I get is a stupid Millennial taking a roadside attraction too seriously and trying to twist it into some kind of attack. Disgusting. So tired of it.

This is 100% the BEST video about this property! I wish this vid would pop up first when people search about SoB. If more people knew about the history and what the place meant and means to this part of SC, I think they would want to support it and help it remain for future generations. 🎉🎉🎉

Great Video! I remember visiting SOB back in the early to mid 80's every summer, as a child. Back then, it seemed like an exciting place. Visiting again as an adult in the early 2000's everything was beginning to look tired, worn out. More recently, in the last 5 years or so, it looks like they are once again repainting / repairing / reinvesting in the attractions and I think that is wonderful. Going forward, to be successful, I think they need to reinvest in the billboards. Back in the day, it feels like there were a lot more, and they were all wild designs. It helped pique interest and build excitent as you ticked away the miles. I feel like a lot of that is missing today. Either way, I hope SOB finds a way to survive well into the future. I can't imagine crossing that state line on 95 and not seeing SOB.

Really cool concept and execution. The fusion of the trippy analogue visuals with the acid riffs works exceptionally well. Love the little journey you’ve worked into the video, the funny little ‘character’ moving amongst the trippy backdrops that themselves seem alive and directly coordinated with the music. Awesome stuff - I’m certain Vibert himself would love this :)

I’m from Charleston SC. I’ve met most of these people when I was a kid. My dad would lock me out the rv at their rv park to do his drugs and pass out or to beat my step mom. It’s amazing I was never kidnapped as a kid due to my dads negligence but these ppl here were really kind and just kinda took me in

I can’t tell you how much I enjoyed this video. I still remember the first visit here on the way to the beach. Maybe it was 1976 or 78 and it was the highlight of the trip. An exotic oasis of colorful fun, games, food, and souvenirs! I remember the workers were all “Mexican” to go along with the theme. I had never seen such beautiful tan dark-haired girls and women in my life. Absolutely made a huge impact on the physical features of the opposite sex that I found the most attractive. My first exposure to tacos and burritos as well. At the time, I wanted to stay there instead of going on to the beach.

Our family stopped there in about 1966. It was a blast for us kids! I was twelve, and wonderstruck to see an indoor fireworks store. It fascinated me. And, it was the one and only time in our childhood we got to buy some fireworks. Normally our parents said we can't afford to waste money on them and they are too dangerous. But my Dad weakened and we got some and had a ball with them. Didn't get hurt either. Later I became an eye surgeon and, ironically, a professional licensed pyrotechnician. So thanks SOB for having a start in me becoming a pro fireworks display operator!! Interestingly, in 35 years of practice, I have only seen two fireworks eye injuries in a state that allows fireworks use 365 days a year. Google Earth calls it a "Mexican-themed" resort. That seems not so PC these days, but I wish to go back one day. Its been about 20 years since I was there. I remember hoping that the hat would be open. Some times it was, and sometimes the Mexicans (from the Mexican-themed resort) would be taking a siesta.

They survived the Covid-19 pandemic, not many companies can say that.

First time I've seen this. SOB has always been a must stop for me and my family starting in the early 70s on our yearly pilgrimage to Myrtle Beach. They destroyed a lot of jobs and businesses in SC when they banned video poker. Wonderful documentary!

Nice documentary. It seems the people that work there are really fond of the place. I wonder how SOB is doing today, 11 years later. Good work getting Dennis Gruenling for the music. I used to see him play in Jersey in the late 90's. I thought the music sounded familiar! I wonder if there's any footage of SOB during the 70's and 80's. It's too bad people are in such a hurry to get somewhere nowadays and not many stop anymore.
