You should listen to this intro, including the audience, live, indeed😉 Most likely you WILL listen to it, if you go to see them live, "Megitsune" is a staple song, they perform it at virtually every concert they do. You asked for a brief summary about BABYMETAL. Well, that´s an impossible task😉 They have such a rich history as a group... beware! Some massive Wall of Text ahead! BABYMETAL started as a dumb ass idea of a producer of Amuse Inc., Key Kobayashi (Kobametal), in 2010. In his opinion the Japanese metal scene became boring and increasingly old, so he wanted to inject some youth to it. Literally. Before 2010, he listened to the, at this point in time, VERY young Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-Metal) singing with the group "Karen girl´s". Her voice is quite unique and was well developed at the age of 10 (!) already. She has a very special tone to her voice, which makes it possible to cut through the sound of a full fledged heavy metal band. Besides that, Suzuka Nakamoto was a great performer already, even at that young age! So, after Suzuka joined the school themed idol group "Sakura Gakuin", he recruited her for his project. "Sakura Gakuin" was about school live and extracurricular activity (clubs), so the "school" got a "heavy music club" (ju-on bu) 😉 As Suzuka alone wouldn´t make up the very unique group Kobametal envisioned, he recruited two other girls, who should take on the duty to perform choreography. These were/are Yui Mizuno (Yuimetal, nickname "Yuibot", due to her machine like precision in dancing and her lags during social interactions, now former member, she left BABYMETAL in 2018 due to health issues) and Moa Kikuchi (Moametal, still VERY active and now the ruler of crowds and security guys🤣). The "heavy music club" made its public debut in 2010 at the Sakura Gakuin festival, and the girls performed "Doki Doki Morning" (a great song, btw.!) The rest is history, as people say 😉 If you ever encounter the term "white t-shirt guy" in conjunction with BABYMETAL, it means a guy who went totally bonkers at THAT first performance. The first die hard BABYMETAL fan, or Kitsune (Fox), as we Westerners say. BABYMETAL did NOT have a live band at this time! They performed to backtrack music. The "Kitsune" thing originates from a mistake the girls made, they mistook the maloik sign (the "Devil´s horns") for the fox in shadow play. It was cool and unique, so they adopted it and today you will recognize a BABYMETAL fan immediately 🤣 It was the base for all the "Fox god" lore around BABYMETAL, too. Following the debut was some very hard work of the girls, they did performances literally everywhere they could. SG festival, "Idol Yoko Cho" festival (a rare footage, but available here on YT), strip malls, whatever. Obviously, the concept worked, people witnessing the "curiosity" liked it. In 2012 they did their first performance on a rock festival, the "Summer Sonic Festival". They performed at a very small side stage at the food court and thought that nobody would come to see them performing. Well, they began performing and quite quickly a veritable crowd gathered in front of that stage, rocking out with three very young girls (15, 13, 13) to quite heavy music. The thing really works! After that, BABYMETAL worked on spawning off from Sakura Gakuin and getting a live band (called "Kami Band"), which was finally achieved with the "Legend 1997 Apocalypse Su-Metal Seitansai" (Su-Metal´s sweet 16 birthday party) concert in 2013. It had a 5 song encore, and the music of the encore was performed live by the "Kami Band". One of the greatest concerts they performed! After that, they did a concert in the prestigous venue "Nippon Budokan" in Tokyo, which was quite an achievement (and a great concert, too!). At this concert, the "Kami Band" became permanent and integral part of BABYMETAL. Then they dared to do a rather risky thing: going overseas! They were booked to perform at the "Sonisphere" Festival in Knebsworth, UK, on a side stage. As their song "Gimme Chocolate!!" blew up on YT some months before, they were reassigned to the main stage, in front of about 55k metalheads. Some nerve wracking outlook, isn´t it? Well, as they say, the rest is history 🤣 Su, Yui and Moa won the crowd over, performing a 30 minutes set, with "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" as the show ending. After that song, the crowd chanted "We want more!". The greatest praise a crowd of metalheads will give to ANY band! You should do a reaction to this performance, too! Following was a race from one record to the next. In 2016 they played the Wembley Arena in London, UK, being the first Japanese group performing as a headliner there! During this concert there was a live transmission from a public viewing event in Japan to Wembley, and back to the Japanese crowd from Wembley. Wembley is a very special concert. The same year they performed their biggest concert to this day, Tokyo Dome! 55k people, two nights, both nights sold out! It was a hell of a concert! 2018 was a hard time for BABYMETAL. Yuimetal left the group, one of the "Kami Band" members died, Su-Metal and Moametal thought about ending BABYMETAL. But after serious and long considerations they went on as a duo. After some choreography experiments with different arrangements of backup dancers, they decided to keep the good ol´ trio formation and recruited three backup dancers, who where called "Avengers". These are Riho Sayashi, former member of "Morning Musume", Kano Fujihira, like Su-Metal and Moametal member of Sakura Gakuin and nowadays member of the group "onefive", and Momoko Okazaki, also former member of Sakura Gakuin. For touring overseas BABYMETAL introduced a second "Kami Band", consisting of session musicians from the US. The "Avengers" performed at a rotational basis, so you´ll see only one "Avenger" in videos of performances at this time. If you see more than one, the video is a compilation of several performances. There is one exception, which is the "Legend Metal Galaxy" concert, where ALL three Avengers and BOTH "Kami Bands" performed "Road of Resistance" together. It was a great concert, too! Just before 2021, Momoko Okazaki was "the last Avenger standing", Kano and Riho left to pursuit their own projects. In 2021 BABYMETAL announced that they were going into a "hiatus" and went dark. Some people thought that this was the end of BABYMETAL. But after some months, there was a "BABYMETAL restauration project" announced, so there was a chance that BABYMETAL will continue. This "project" materialized into the "The Other One" album later on. 2022 didn´t see any BABYMETAL performance, they were still "dark". Then they announced the "BABYMETAL Returns" concert in January 2023. Happiness all over the world! 😉 The "BABYMETAL Returns" concert once again saw Momoko Okazaki as "Avenger", and it was a frikkin´ amazing concert. You should watch "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" from this concert! You will see some really CRAZY crowd stuff! 😉 During this concert another group, unknown and not officially announced, entered the scene. Later on they are revealed as "Metalverse". Similar to BABYMETAL in concept, but different in style and music. Then the "BABYMETAL Begins" concerts followed, two evenings, called "Black Night" and "Clear Night". At "Black Night" Momoko Okazaki performed as "Avenger" again. She really worked her butt off for BABYMETAL! Fans were demanding that Momoko should become a full BABYMETAL member for quite some time already due to this... at the end of "Black Night" the surprising revelation: MOMOMETAL! Momoko Okazaki became a full member, finally! She did her first performance as a full member at the "Clear Night", and you should watch some songs from this concert! "Monochrome" would be a nice choice 😉 After that, BABYMETAL literally exploded. A monster of a world tour in 2023 (98 live concerts. In 25 countries, IIRC) followed, I had my first live concert in my whole life with this tour😉Yes, I saw them live at the "Palladium" venue (4k capacity) in Cologne, Germany. It was an AMAZING experience! Collaborations en masse in 2024, a massive festival tour, including Brazil for the first time... they are active like never before. I hope that WoT helped you a bit to catch up with BABYMETAL history. It´s for sure not free of mistakes (I wrote this in the early morning, before breakfast and before going to work, as good as my memory served me), not comprehensive, as I may have missed some important details, but I strongly believe that other BABYMETAL fans will help out! Welcome back.🦊'Megitsune' was released in 2013. It often tops polls for fans favourite song and they have played it live more than any other. It reflects a lot of their Japanese culture including the melody of an old and very well known Japanese folk song called 'Sakura Sakura' (Cherry Blossoms) in the intro and in the breakdown. The lyrics talk about women being compared to foxes (kitsune - which also explains the fox mask Su had🦊) which in Japanese mythology are able to shape shift and take human form (often the shape of a beautiful woman) in order to deceive men. This song is their female empowerment anthem taking a bit of a push back against the traditional subservient female role in Japanese society I think - or maybe it is - whilst also praising and celebrating the women who have played that role over the years for their strength. They are saying that women wearing their make up and hiding their true feelings ("crying at heart, smiling at face") are not trying to deceive anybody, they are simply trying to please everybody - so they are not deceptive kitsune (foxes), they are true hearted megitsune (female foxes or vixens) - and they are strong. When Su spoke a few words she did a high kick, she said "Otome wa ... nametara ikan zeyo." (Maidens ... shouldn't be underestimated). This is a famous quote from a Japanese gangster movie said by the daughter of a gang boss. I believe you used a compilation video with clips from several different concerts - the names or locations of the different concerts were showing up in the bottom left of the screen. Compilation videos like this are made by fans to avoid them being blocked etc and shouldn't (but sometimes still do) need to be blurred or covered ... some compilations are not well made (this one isn't a bad one fortunately), so if you have a choice of a single live performance or a compilation the single performance videos are usually the better option. The "Avenger era" was from 2019 through to April 1st 2023 - that was after the original third member Yuimetal left the band and while Su-metal and Moametal continued as a duo supported by the 3 Avengers who would take turns to dance in the third spot.

My most favorite song from Babymetal is the rendition of “No rain, No rainbow” in Hiroshima from the legend - S - Baptism XX in 2017 . SueMetal is from Hiroshima and she is almost in tears at the end of that balad rendition. Better than all the other version because of her emotion state in that particular song, location and time.

Well this is fact an old song. It was released in 2019 by Babymetal on Metal Galaxy, but it was pretty fast forgotten. In reality Tim Hensen simply got a contract for the guitar parts of one babymetal song. And so he wanted to get this simple project behind him, since he never expected to hear from it again, but we can guess that they were the same people that tried to streamline Kingslayer for the girls. Sure Su is in the prime of her voice. For them this is simply a nother Production on a normal stage since they took this old find in their setlist in the second Europe Tour of 2023 (Believing, Syncopation and this Song competed for two slots. And this was 2019, so the background vocals were written for Moa alone, while Momo just started this year with Babymetal as a tryout dancer (1 of 3) and don't compare them with the voices of the 10 Year old girls they once had. If Moa wanted, she could probably start as the main Singer of many other voices. But I think that they simply want to be together. When their contract with Babymetal ended thy simply shared a Studio in Tokyo and srarted their Expedition and they were shocked when .oa came out of her audition for a part and she was not even warm yet. She had grown so much as a part of Babymetal, that it was not even funny and they fixed their talks obviously more and more on Babymetal and what thex wanted changed and then they returned to Koba, their old Manager and gave him their demands what they would want to continue Babymetal. It was obvious how careful Koba was. He did not want to overcharge the girls, if it might fail and what he could deliver. So, no as Su and Moa explained last year this is a new Babymetal. And this year they no longer talk about but they are the new Babymetal. And as Koba realized stronger than ever before. In the beginning itvwas the general question what had Babymetal to offer, but it is obvious, as Su often explained "We are surrounded by Talent". They are based on the knowledge that formed the old Babymetal. But they show and demonstrate they were originally created as a sidearm of an idol Project, but zhey are no idol project.

This stage was for the music festival "Fox Fest" that Babymetal hosted in Japan this past May. Because it's a festival stage it needs to cater to all the bands playing on it so it's a pretty simple design. The shows that Babymetal hold for themselves in Japan are some of the most elaborate productions that you will see by anyone playing today, everything from the stage to the lighting to the automation... is a master class on how to put on a show. Baby metal have done many collaborations, in the last year alone they have preformed on stage with "Bring Me The Horizon" "Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine" and "Electric Callboy" and other acts in the past. Tim And Scott have confirmed that BM will be collaborating on a track on the next Polyphia album.

Nice "first" reaction, welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊 The song is almost 5 years old. It was on BABYMETAL's Metal Galaxy album, their 3rd album, it was released in 2019. It is certainly one of BABYMETAL's more 'chill' songs ... but they do everything. That's one reason their collaborations all work so well (you know 'PA PA YA' with F Hero from Thailand - that was on the same album, there are more collaborations and featured artists on some of their songs with people like Tom Morello, Electric Callboy, Herman Li and Sam Totman from DragonForce, Joakim Broden from Sabaton and the list goes on - but does not include Kiss) as they are so versatile they can do pretty much whatever style and match up with whoever they are collaborating with. When Polyphia was confirmed on the bill for Fox_Fest (arranged, hosted and headlined by BABYMETAL in Tokyo) we all had a good idea of what would happen. Tim Henson and Scott le Page provided and recorded the guitar tracks for the original recording of the song. Fox_Fest was the first chance they all had to meet up and to finally do this very first live performance with them all together. There is no other band quite like BABYMETAL, so no time like the present to discover more about them. They were formed and developed around the vocal talents of lead singer Su-metal (she was 12 when they started in 2010 - she is 26 now, she was 21 when this song and 'PA PA YA' were recorded), but don't let that fool you that the other girls Moametal and Momometal (and the third original girl Yuimetal) are any less talented or less important, they are crucial to what makes them both original and unique. They have about 70 songs now, each one different to the last. They have songs in virtually every metal genre, but they will also mix and blend so many more musical styles and genres with the metal - and they have introduced choreographed dance to metal as well - but not dance as you may know it from pop acts etc where it is generally used to fill the stage or to give you half dressed girls (or boys) to take your mind off the uninteresting music. BABYMETAL's choreo is bespoke for each song and it is interpretive, helping us non-Japanese speakers to understand the meaning of the song or a lyric. But it is more than that too, it is designed to involve and include the audience. When the girls jump, pump a fist or make a move, when they chant sing their backing vocals etc the audience follows their lead. They are masters of crowd control and one of the very best live acts on the planet right now. Their music videos are all very good and worth watching, but BABYMETAL are a live act, their songs are written for live performances and that is where you will see - and most importantly hear - them at their very best. Just to start you off I will recommend two very different songs, both live at PIA Arena April 2023 - 'Megitsune' and 'Monochrome'.

Here's a basic info to refresh your memory: BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old when started this and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute) mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms. Their name is a reference to a new genre and not related to their ages or "baby" faces, is a pun intended play words with "heavy-metal" which sounds similar to "baby-metal". They are: *SuMetal* lead vocalist, now 26. *MoaMetal* scream and dance, now 24, next July 4 is her birthday. *MomoMetal* scream and dance, she's 21 and is the new official member since April 1st last year. -YuiMetal- scream and dance, former member since 2018. None of them are related. After 2018 you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them are official members, they don't sing, only dance, but that status change recently like i said. Metal Galaxy is a wonderful album and full of surprises, you're gonna find many more like this with more mature sound, it came out in 2019 so isn't so new but is one of the songs with more mature sound. The album version got the collaboration of Polyphia guitarists, and it's quite clear in the solo section. Tim Henson said when listening to this song that he would love to play this along with BabyMetal on the stage, he didn't know the final cut when he was doing the riffs on this song. The dance on this song is beautiful and graceful, they're showing another mature side and more complicated choreography. According to MoaMetal is the hardest song to dance along with BxMxC and Night Night Burn iirc. Song is inspired by certain "City Pop" band and Utada Hikaru songs, when SuMetal heard this she doubt about this being a metal song but then the guitars solo were added and all make senses suddenly. Finally we got them together on stage and with this awesome live performance, it is their first time performing together. They did it again last week at Graspop Festival in Belgium and they hug each other at the end just like in this version only thing it was cut out, there's also a proshot clip but I'm not so sure about the sound mix. Along with RATATATA this was definitely one of the highlights at FOX_FEST and a lot of Japanese fans were looking for, I guess that cool slow pace city pop element gives some nostalgia and that's why many fans love it. In a recent interview, Tim and Scott talked about a new song in their upcoming album along with BM, let's see what they got but I'm pretty sure it's gonna be something real good like this one. BM said in a recent interview that they would love to collab along with Fall Out Boy, but prior to this (talking about Eloy Casagrande) they said they're excited for a collab along with Slipknot, can you imagine?👀 Fun fact: KobaMetal, BM producer and creator, was a huge fan of Sepultura and Brazilian metal, you can notice certain tribute with the song "In The Name Of".
