A tip, it generally better to cut the leads on top of the PCB, and solder to them, you can damage pcb traces if not very careful.

This is a long shot but you might be the only person on the planet who could tell me if this is possible. I want to know if I can cut the XLR end of my Sony ecm77b microphone off and solder a 3.5mm male jack onto that. Is that possible?

Just stumbled upon this system and it seems that it could be enough for only 1 band member. Have you tried maybe tried it live? I have returned the NUX (which is beautifull system, well thought through but with crappy sound and hissing like angry cat). Is this loud enough with no hiss? Thanks a lot

Hey man I really appreciate your input on dbx products, but a lot of people having issues with dbx venue 360 and PA2, overtime this units won’t pass the logo screen and require hard resets or even connect to a pc and wipe and install the running software, sometimes this steps don’t even work and you need to just throw away the unit, my humble opinion about dbx at this moment is that they are partnered with Chinese companies and everything they make right now is absolute garbage.!.! Period

Geez, this was like open heart surgery for a patient that only had acid indigestion... spray DeOxit on the tube pins and just push the tube in and out of the socket a few times. Done in 46 seconds. Still have crackling and pops after cleaning?? Retension the socket pin holders w toothpicks for a tighter grip on the pins. Again, another 46 seconds.

But stil having problems with the potentiometer DBX part number: 40-2125 to get it here in Austria / Europe. My dealer doesn't have it and Harman Austria doesn't "know" it. ;-) Do you have more infos about type and range (Ohms) of the pot - maybe I can get it from another fabric/dealer. Thank you

Out of interest how long would it take for the voltages to reduce to a safe level just by unplugging it?

Craziest thing is that I’ve been installing these since 2004 when they came out, and at the time there was no other unit which could do even close to what a ZonePro does that didn’t involve having to be a sound engineer to operate. These are designed with the retail space GM as the operator, and they are excellent at that. Oh, so I’ve installed maybe 50 or so of these units, always the 640 or 1260, and have never had one single failure. I was responding to a concern from a client and just for kicks I looked up, “do dbx ZonePros ever fail?” And this popped up. I’ve also never noticed them running hot. In fact I’ve never installed a fan and they are always mounted directly on top of the Crown amps, driving JBL Control 25 or 28 speakers and sometimes C26s for bathrooms. This combo has proven dead reliable. Most often any problems end up being user error. Someone may have added IT stuff to the rack and accidentally left an IEC cable just loose enough to become intermittent, or touched a network cable just right to cause the same, even though I stress test everything when buttoning up a rack, meaning I pull and push and twist all cables to assure there are no bad connections. Usually someone has rubbed against a ZC knob and broken it, or some wise guy has muted the zone on the face of the unit or turned off an amp or something like that. I have had a few Crown amps die, but that was because the client left it on for like three or five years and when power went out or it got turned off for whatever reason, it wouldn’t power back up. Crown tech said a cap in the start up sequence will cook itself if left on forever. But at that only two amps have done that, and most clients just leave them in even when I implore them to let them cool off once in a while. The knobs are not potentiometers by the way, which would be analog in nature. Digital versions are called encoders. It changes code. Duh. I’ve had one develop an bad connection at the mic/line input level selection button next to the gain knob. That’s it. Sometimes the screen loses contrast. Usually a factory reset fixed that even. I’ve had one where the manager needed to shut off the unit and let it discharge its caps, and then turn it back on 90 seconds later and it was fixed. It was not responding to input changes on a ZC8. I’ve had ZCs outside at a bar on immediately over salt water, telling the client that location would ruin it and I gave it one year to last. That was 2005. Still works, covered in grenadine and all. Sometimes the LED will fail, but not really, it just falls out of the lense. Put it back out a drop of superglue on it and all fixed. Network cables not cleanly terminated have been my biggest issue, so I e learned to get good at that, and no more of those issues. So. Thanks. I guess I’m lucky or just not hearing about it when they fail. I’ve not heard from some clients in ten years and assumed some other sales guy talked them into something else, but no, they just had to remove it for a remodel and asked which wires went where, I talked them through it, and saved a two hour drive for repair. Other companies sell maintenance plans. I sell a promise that it will be the last gear they buy for many years with no number given, but start listing off places which have been trouble free for 5,7, 10+ years and they are convinced. My lousy salesmanship has gotten me a 95% closure rate on prospective sales. Can anyone touch that? It’s called trust, and especially when it’s a referral, which they all are, they trust me before they meet me. I’ll never be rich from a service plan, but my clients trust my word without question.

I made a little notch on the side of the plastic tip of a solder sucker. Apply heat to the solder work, position the solder sucker while the solder iron tip is still on the solder (creates a seal), then pull the sucker trigger and immediately pull the solder iron tip away with a little tilt motion. It's quick! Alcohol cleanup step is quicker also, you don't have all the rosin from the wick.

What’s the name of the app for this? I have used similar looking unit, some named “Blackbird”, and some named “No Hassle” and there is an app for the no hassle which works. Also, you can point your browser to the units IP address and set things that way, at least if it’s like yours.

Any chance you've encountered an issue where the zonepro is detected but not resolved? I have three on the local network and two currently show up - one came up after a minute and one shows in the address tool as "Detected".
