zhlédnutí 6KPřed 7 měsíci
After several attempts this year, I've finally got my first DJ gig log ever. In this gig log, I highlight a two wedding weekend just a few weeks ago. As you see, I had some challenges but overall, it was a very rewarding weekend. It's my first wedding dj gig log attempt. Lots of mistakes were made but I wanted to get one out there and some momentum! Lots of lessons learned to make the next ones...

Good job. 👏👏
Thanks!
So i noticed you said your moving heads dont have the ability create a wash. In that case I wouldnt offer a "spot light" dance to couples. It looks much better as a wash when done correctly or a very faint line of a circle. When it comes to lighting something like their first dance or parent dances.. always, always discuss it with the photographer. They may have an assistant or you stand in the light and take a test shot to see if it will work or not. They have 1 shot to capture special moments light are not needed 99% of the time for those dances. Even when you do then theres angles, shadows, additional lighting on the back side to consider if were being technical. I suggest being a team player, talk to the photographers/videographers and go from there. Also your cocktail hr speaker seemed kind of low in height, but if it works do you, they had fun. $250 is hard to beat lol.
I agree with you on the lighting, I'm not doing it anymore with these. And I did talk to the photographer and she was okay with it but I'm not, looking back thanks for the watch!
Great log and very well explanied! Regarding the first/slow dances - The static white spot light generated from the moving heads, it looked odd. If you take a moment to understand how the photo’s will turn out due to this light, it’s not going to be great. A few options I would give you is that if you really did want it to be static, dont have a hard edge, make it soft with a wash/frost filter and dont have the light so bright. The other option, and the best IMO, is to have the lights moving slowly. Thay way, the photographers have options/angles too. Try it, see if you can identify the difference. Keep up the great work! Subbed!
Thank you! I'm surprised you're the first one to mention it. Unfortunately, I have spots and no option to wash. I can attempt the lights moving and lighten up, or I may just not use it on the dances. I couldn't seem to get them big enough for the entire area but if it's going across the room, it's a much bigger spot and looks a little more natural. What lights do you use? Thank you for the feedback and sub!
@@TheDJStirFry I'm very picky with my lighting and I go to great lengths to ensure my lighting is handled well (take a look at some of my gig logs). I would still advise you to have some lighting on a first dance. It's an important moment, you'll want to create some sort of impact. All eye's will be on you and the B&G, you've got to make it special. Plus, when the photo's get taken, you and your setup will be captured in 90% of those pics, so make it count I'd say. I'm guessing you're using some sort of laptop software to control your lights? I'd highly recommend you move away from this method, move to something more standalone like a WMX1 (that's what I use). What make/model of lights do you use? I can look up if they have a soft filter. Most lights these days do have an option. I use Artfox lights, they've been very good for me and very well built units. Most lights also have a zoom feature, that will allow you to adjust the size of the spot, but I wouldn't recommend you to highlight the B&G with a spot no matter the size. The photographer may wish to capture the moment in a different temp of light. So as I mentioned, have the lights moving slowly. It creates an impact of event for that moment, and the Photographer has options too. Let me know if I can help with anything else.
Nice gig log dude! Little lengthy, maybe trim the fat a bit, but solid. Keep em coming!
I appreciate the feedback. I agree with you, still working on the intricacies of vlogging and my style. Thanks for the watch!
@@TheDJStirFry It'll come w time broski. Keep it up!
Just a tip. Dont call the parents "mom" or "dad" call them by their names whenever on the mic. It connects the audience more. Great video
Love feedback. Thanks for the watch!
Great gig log!! Subbed!!
Thanks for the sub!
Nice!! As a fellow wedding DJ, I never thought about how much playing music beforehand could make get you more customers. You killed it. My only criticism is I think it was too bright for dancing. Like the uplights shouldve been changed to a darker color or sound reactive rgb. In my experience, people are less nervous, the darker it is. Unless they specifically said to not change the uplights, then completely disregard 😅
I can agree with you. Thanks for the feedback and watch!
I often put uplights under cocktail tables if bride and coordinator approve! Always a nice touch!
I’m just one step behind you! It does look good.
Work it bbbbbbb
