    Hi Freddy Thanks for the video. I have two questions: 1) Why do we need the VGW in the NewNet if we create a VNET peering? Is it not enough the VGW and the Firewall in the ProdVNET? 2) Why do we need the Firewall? is the security not enough just using the VGW in the PRodVNET?

    • @agkenba
      @agkenba Před měsícem

      I have the same question. With peering, we can find resources in the prod VNET, and the express route will allow us to connect to the on-prem. By using the routing table and redirecting to the firewall, the VNET should peer. However, to enable us to use the express route, we should also have permission to use it at the subscription/VNET level. That is my only understanding here. I think if i do an express route in the hub VNET and then i peer all the spoke VNETs should be find

    Very informative video. Just had a question around file changes from cloud endpoint (Azure file Shares) to server endpoint (FIle sync server) taking long. I noticed that any change on server endpoint are being updated in cloud endpoint immediately but is taking 24 hours when its other way around i.e. from Azure files shares to File Sync server. Proactive recall is not helping here and the only way to update is through the invoke command. Curious to know if there is a better way to update the namespace more frequently?

    Hi, thanks for this video, could you better specify the sync frequency both on cloud and server endpoints? There’s so many contradictory documentation about that! If you also have some useful documentation link it would be really great!

    • @freddydubon4619
      @freddydubon4619 Před 4 měsíci

      that is a great question. so when you copy a file a share say in New York, the file starts to synchronize with Azure Files as soon as the file close handle is received on the local share. when the file is fully copied to Azure FIles the metadata will show up in London but the file contents will not be sync'd until someone tries to access the file in London. if a file is copied directly to the Azure Files share, the synchronization timer is much longer, it happens only one or two time per day. this is the reason some customers decide to add a Windows VM to the cloud and use the Azure Sync Agent on that too, at that point all sync'd shares are updated as soon as the file is copied. i hope this helps

      when a File is copied to Azure Files, the file keeps all the ACL permissions so if the file is used from a system that is part of the Active directory the file permissions should apply.

      as far as the routing, since this is all based on BGP the return routes should be injected to your onprem environment by the BGP protocol. in Azure once the peering is created these routes are injected as well. just make sure that in your ARP table in your private peering connection you are able to see both the Microsoft side and the OnPrem routers. once you are able to see that your connection is set. i hope this helps

    • @freddydubon4619

      so the Private Endpoints lands in the VNET and if you centralize these endpoints into the same Vnet the DNS will be automatically updated and the services should be able to use the same endpoint name and no DNS changes are needed. however, if you access from other vnets you need to use the internal endpoint IP address or update your DNS or watch the video on Azure private endpoints and DNS private Zones. I hope this helps

    • @freddydubon4619
      @freddydubon4619 Před 4 měsíci

      Typically that is a good way to go, one storage account and multipe shares. keep in mind that Azure files gives you the option to change the tier on a per share basis so if there is data that can be in Cool tier such as back ups or archival data, data that is not accessed much. this can help with the cost.

  • @boseashish

    • @freddydubon4619
      @freddydubon4619 Před 4 měsíci

      I am glad this is beneficial, in this example the data is NOT moving through an express route, but it is taking the Internet path using port 443 TLS encrypted. if you need to use Express route you would have to setup a private endpoint so the data stays internal. I hope that helps
