I haven't played many. What would you recommend? I'll be putting together a top 100 in the future.

The only one I haven't played is Flying Shark. Looked pretty good tho. Will have to check my anbernic to see if it's on it.

I've played all of these at some point. Really loved Action Fighter when a kid. Now I'm not so good at it lol and that goes with a lot of games now lol but I still play
I struggled with Action Fighter. I should have used the game genie. 😆
That R-type first boss is forever stuck in my head. Iconic.

What's the first game to make you shout "F#CK!!?" At the top of your lungs?
Probably either the jumping level on the Lion King or the bike level in Battletoads. 😆 What about you?

Love Psycho Fox, so unforgiving though. Trying to get enough momentum to make the jumps is infuriating. 😆

The 90s were great for all 3 of them.
It's amazing / flabbergasting the NES was still selling games in 1990 and beyond. It's a travesty.

Where is Captain tsubasa and duboule dragon?
I never realized as a kid that early console games were just arcade ports. I do miss the arcade heavy genres like shmups.
Arcade shmups are what I've been recording recently. Forgot how many classics there were. Console games seemed to have stuck in my head more for some reason.

Yeah, the shear amount of sprites arcade games started having on screen probably made it a nightmare. Then the move to 3D left the 16 bits Machines behind mostly.

Turrican was for the Amiga not the Genesis
It was released on amiga in 1990, Mega Drive in 1991.

Gloc Air Battle is a spiritual succesor the Afterburner games. Having fun playing it at the moment ( controls take getting used to)

I played most of these. So happy to see Dragons Fury here and also Road Rash. But you have so many others like Super Castlevania 4 and many more here. Such a great list of games. Great year as well!

I've played everything here except Infamous & Mario Wonder. All the rest are great games. I remember going through Super Metroid and being amazed at that game. Castlevania Symphony was so damn good. All of these are so damn good lol Loving this series dude! Hope to see more on the way
Why would Starfox be a must play game when Lylat Wars was the same game but much better in every way?
Star Fox was such a big deal for me when it first released. I think it's important to see where franchises came from even if it's not the best one. Lylat Wars/Star Fox 64 will be in a future must play video.
It's a very different game even if it technically is a remake.

I haven't tried that. I'm going to look it up and try it out.
Wonder Boy 3 and Duck Tales are good, but they are overrated. Wonder Boy 3 has a flat and repetitive level design for an exploration-based game (also the grinding can be tedious at times). On the other hand, Duck Tales is very short, especially once you beat it the first time and know the shortcuts to get to the boss.
I've so many good memories with those games. I actually enjoyed Duck Tales' short length when I was playing it for this video. It's a nice game to revisit for a quick blast. Any games you'd recommend I try?

SF2 redefined the whole genre of fighting games. After it came out a whole bunch of copycats came out. I pick it as one of my favorite games of all time.
Does "Carrier Air Wing" has anything to do with "U.N. Squadron"?
It was the spiritual successor as far as I'm aware. They are both quite similar.
Did Super Soccer just make the top 40 of _all_ games released in 1991? Oh I just translated what you meant by "ranked". You are going on your own _personal_ experience. Also only Mega Drive and SNES.

@@GamesByYear as for soccer games (or football as we like to call it), Super Soccer isn't very high on my list. But for 1991, I honestly don't know. Was FIFA out at least?
@iwanttocomplain Fifa was 93 if I remember right. I did prefer that and Sensible Soccer over Super Soccer but it would have been my favourite football game for that year.
@iwanttocomplain lots of good folk have been sharing their favourites and giving me recommendations, so I guess these lists will change over time as I discover/remember other great games.

Ghouls N Ghost yeah!!! By the way, someone is updating the graphics for the genesis. It blows the supergrafx version away. Just look for Ghouls N Ghost Amaru

It's such a weird concept for a game but it works. It would have made the PGA games a lot more entertaining if you got to fight people along the way. 😆
