Thank you for sharing this information, it’s quite a hike for peak season! Last year we visited in May and June for a standard price but if we were visiting in June this year it would be a lot more.

Thanks for your question, it depends more on which ports you’re visiting because a river ship will always dock facing upriver, for example, river ships all dock on starboard side in Budapest. Thank you! We took a taxi to the train station and it took 5-10 minutes but we walked back through La Spezia to the cruise terminal on the way back and it took about 20-25 minutes strollling. It’s a nice walk back through the town with shops and cafes to stop in if you want to break up the walk.

How long is the actual train take?

Sorry I don’t think I understand your question. The train is quick between villages, only a few minutes between each village. The first village takes 7-8 minutes from La Spezia. From the furthest village back to La Spezia train station it’s about 20 minutes.

I guess it depends on your phone provider, you’ll probably need to check your roaming or pay for a roaming package that gives you access

There is walking involved and I think from memory there may be steps at Manarola train station but there’s no reason why you can’t take your time and enjoy the village.

No worries, we planned most ports ourselves as most of the time you can walk straight into the town/city from the ship. We did bump into passengers on our cruise a lot in ports as we were seeing the same things, just at our own pace. We did the walking tour of Vukovar and found our tour guide really helpful in sharing the history and showing us around. The archeological park was interesting but if you don’t fancy it, you can stay onboard and still see the Golubac Fortress after a leisurely afternoon cruising down the river. Our friend did the folk dance and lunch excursion in Belgrade and said it was very good. Just pick and choose what you fancy doing but don’t feel like you need to book something in every port.

Thanks Anne, we were staying further away from the main areas and so we didn’t get a chance to walk around in the evenings so much but I’d like to do that more if we return. That area over from the Accademia bridge was nice and certainly much quieter during the day. It was quieter in the evenings where we were, which was nice after the crowds in the touristy areas during the day.

We did! If we’d have had more time we would have done some of the other crossings but further up the grand canal they were shorter so we picked the best one.

This was our first experience of a small-ship cruise and we enjoyed it too. It was the little touches we noticed that were really nice. Wished we’d have had longer because a week flew by too quickly! We think the laundry is a good feature and definitely got used a lot on our cruise.

It was! Quite a lot to fit in but definitely a good few days seeing the main sights of Venice. I’m sure it won’t be the last time we visit.
