Lawyer Rafi Prober explains the role he played in the pursuit of justice from SNCF, France’s national, state-owned railway, for transporting 76,000 Jews and thousands of others toward concentration camps during the Holocaust. SNCF was paid per head and per kilometer to do so, and for decades refused to accept accountability. In collaboration with Tablet Studios, Rafi has helped to create a five...

Programming like our Speakers Bureau is critical to shaping how students think about history and understand its relevance today. Recently, a group of middle school students had the opportunity to hear from Ingrid, a legacy speaker who shares her parents’ story of resistance during the Holocaust. The students learned how one person can truly make a difference for others - in this case, saving th...

In 1942, the Allies were losing, Germany seemed unstoppable, and every able man in England was on the front lines. To “set Europe ablaze,” in the words of Winston Churchill, the Special Operations Executive (SOE), whose spies were trained in everything from demolition to sharpshooting, was forced to do something unprecedented: recruit women. Thirty-nine answered the call, leaving their lives an...

At least 250,000 Roma were murdered by the Nazis between 1939-1945. After the war, discrimination against Roma continued all over Europe and this crime against the Roma was largely ignored. Author and historian Ari Joskowicz, in his new book, Rain of Ash: Roma, Jews, and the Holocaust, describes the postwar relationship between Roma and Jews and the efforts of the Roma to turn to Jewish institu...

Why you crying REALLY LADY!!!!
I watched this in 2 parts. I commented on the first half already . During the 2nd half Mrs. Torica’s story became more heartbreaking and compelling . The interviewer became stupider with her questions. My advice-throw your script /notes/ questions away and JUST LISTEN to what this wonderful woman is telling you!!
Stella was very interesting to listen to-interviewer on the other hand has been asking some on the stupidest questions. She doesn’t seem to listen to what Stella has already said. Bottom line-interviewer obviously not very bright!!!

Amazing and powerful testimony
After reading the comments could not watch the interview😢
Our people is a beautiful people! 💌💌☺☺
Sweet man. My heart hurts.
The Jews didn't die, they were murdered. Their property wasn't confiscated, they were robbed.

Yawn
The Germans were thieves, liars, manipulators and embodied everything normal people try not to be. I think the interviewer did a decent job of bridging the gap between 1940 and 2024. The way the Germans took people's hard earned belongings really bothers me. What a bunch of jerks. I really appreciate the historical recollection this gentleman provides. I encourage everyone to keep watching as the interviewer does soften her tone substantially, and does elicit important details from the era. The amount of killing he described is abhorrent.
How did he live after orders were given to kill all... What does "Holocaust" mean? The Greek word 'Holocaust' = Burnt offering to Moloch- preferably youth/babies. Moloch was a statue to represent the evil one which traveled just beyond Israelis borders, the story's in Bible/Torah.
G-d bless you
We have had on this earth men like Hitler, Attila, Putin and now trump who are born without any feelings and who have been the cause of so much pain and deaths. I often wonder if they think what will happen to them at the time of their deaths.
I am glad that she survived and has been able to cope with her past. I had a friend whose family were in the concentration camps and her father had a very hard time with his memories which affected his daughter. To this day I cannot understand why people can be so cruel to one another, we all come from one source. I wish people would understand that when you are being cruel to another you are in reality harming yourself, it’s kind of going backwards instead of forward, you are regressing towards brutality. Why are people so devoid of empathy and humanity.
Its starting to happen again in the USA. Project 25 needs to be stopped. Human Rights (women's healthcare rights) matter. The Republican Party is no more. I implore voting against a totalitarian government and they vote for and keep their Democratic Republic.
Mr. Klaus did an excellent job of recollecting the actions of the Nazis in the early days. This was very interesting to me to compare with current events. The Nazis were a bunch of thugs. It really shows state supported actions do bring punishment. It was interesting to hear about the different groups of people besides the jewish population that was targeted. I did not know the SS gassed people in box cars using carbon monoxide. They were ruthless. You, the interviewer, did an excellent job with the monitor attachments.
Very many thanks, Sir, for giving us your most important testimony. It is much appreciated.
You are beautiful. The Nazis were robbers, liars, abusers, and just plain evil. I am so sorry this happened to you.
You and your family did an excellent job. Thank you, interviewer for doing an excellent job. Feel free to make a longer video.
Her testimony is so important. The part about the vegatable garden key. About the quotas. On how antisemism grew even more after the Nazi army invaded Hungary. The jewlery cavity search made me cry. I have listened to many testimonies but I still cannot understand. How could the Germans and the Hungarians commit such atrocities against Jewish Hungarians and look in the mirror every day. The pain of not being able to hug her father goodbye when being taken to Auschwitz.
Terribly rude interviewer - my gosh😢 How did she ever get this to do!!! Its painful to listen to her horiible tone of questioning esp for a man in so much distress about even deciding to be there !!!! Such an interrogation!! He had amazingly terrible experiences and she makes it sound like she doesnt believe him !! My goah this is so terrible!!
THIS was such a remarkable story, it needs to be a book as well as a movie! Thank you for telling us and for helping us in America understand how our language can inform our behavoir and acceptance of things that are so wrong!
The interviewer has no interviewing skills whatsoever. She asked too many unnecessary questions instead of allowing that brave man to just speak his account of the atrocities uninterrupted. Whoever introduced her to him is just as horrible as she.
weird how the tattoo has been altered 🤔 it’s had a tattoo over the top of it

bravo!
This poor man 😢had to be interviewed by this heartless woman . Made me mad and sad x
I love this man. I'm so glad he found happiness and prospered in his life after the war, found love and had children and grandchildren. He deserved it. RIP Mr. Kahn. xo
Her eyes are so sad. I imagine this woman has spent her entire life just on the cusp of crying. What a sad place to be in, in your heart and mind. May heaven have cleared her soul of all pain and heartache, and may she now be rejoicing with all of her loved ones lost before her. RIP strong and brave lady xo Thank you for sharing your story. I will never forget. xo
You guys are awesome. Idk why my Christian demographic is so infamously mute and incurious on the documentation of such awful examples of collective atrocity, but..whatever. The Shoah Foundation also uses interviews of people from all over to raise conscoousness - Rwanda, Burma, etc. Congratulations on being famously literate and thorough on documenting important matters.

Fascinating account! Thank you so much, Sir.
I agree! The interviewer was brutal!! I did feel so terribly sorry for the lovely man who clearly is still very badly affected by the horrors of the Holocaust. Thank you very much, Sir, for sharing your experiences and I wish you and your family the very, very best for the future. Greetings from New Zealand.
Can you explain about the swimming pool and the orchestra?
I could hear the sound of someone asking questions in her earpiece…. Ie, questions the interviewer should ask.
