1. You must always check traveling cart in Cindersap forest on Fridays and Sundays. You're looking for Red Cabbage. It's the only item you can strictly speaking not get at all year one, except in the traveling cart. 2. Look up the bundles on the wiki and always work towards either money or one of the items. Money is important to be able to afford items as they come in via the traveling merchant, that in addition to Red Cabbage can get you many of the harder to get items, like Rabbit's foot or the cooked meals like Maki Roll and Fried Egg. 4. Choose fruit bat cave. Fruit trees take too long to grow, are too expensive year 1, and require too much space. Use mushroom logs for lategame mushrooms. Fruit bats get you all of the fruits you need for the bundles, including the four apples. You're likely to get the purple and red mushrooms as you descend into the mines anyway.

I think the most interesting thing is that you can plant fruit trees next to the railroad tracks. Yes they are still seasonal but now you can plant a bunch of them not on your farm. And it is a reason to use that mountain obelisk that you had to build for perfection.
