  • @davidhighmaintenance8875

    Nice discussion Duncan. Well done for taking the time to conduct the experiment. My go to rubber is Unger, I've tried all the rest. Unger is soft for the cold damp winters here and I usually change over to Ettore hard in the summer. But actually still using unger right now. It also matters which squeegee you're using. I found the moerman squeegees hard on the ends of certain rubbers as the angled corners put constant pressure on the tips and they wear quicker when they touch the edge of the frames. Theres Lots of factors involved isn't there ! Sending Warm regards. David.

    • @McRaesWindowCleaning
      @McRaesWindowCleaning Před 2 lety

      So, David, do you use the Unger Ninja squeegees with the Unger rubber?

    • @davidhighmaintenance8875
      @davidhighmaintenance8875 Před 2 lety

      @@McRaesWindowCleaning I can't get on with the Ninja channel, for some reason it doesn't pull All the water off the glass, I've tried it with the 30 and 40 degree handles. My absolute faithful squeegee is the Legend channel but I use it with a Ninja 40 degree handle. The Legend has tapered ends similar to the moerman and reduces detailing but doesn't wear the rubber at the ends like Moerman and is stiffer and has a more solid feel to it. Of course the Moerman is excellent for higher pole work but that's all I use it for. I would prefer a better handle for my Legend channel as I find the Ninja handle too narrow, I prefer a wider grip. Just realised I sound very fussy!! 😂 What combination do you prefer?

  • @jadelee2738
    @jadelee2738 Před 2 lety

    Interesting reviews. Good job. Good having a price comparison, as that always is a big factor. I've never liked hard rubber, which is why the blue moerman rubber in my opinion has been the worst I've purchased. I've worked in 45° heat and now in a town which had -8° last week. I prefer softer rubber in all conditions. Sorbo has been the best, although doesn't stay sharp for too long, I assume as it's quite soft. Black Diamond is very good for the cost and as a rubber was ok, however it shredded much quicker than Sorbo. Ettore was no good at all for me, shredded way too quick. I can't see any justification for paying Unger green prices, so can't comment on that. Wagtail wasn't the best either, although I'm going from the old dark blue rubber. Bad feel, streaky and it went hard real quick. I don't think they stock that particular one anymore though. Finally, the Razr Red...this has honestly been the best rubber overall. It lasts longer than any I've ever used, nice soft feel and the price factor makes this the best of all as well. I wonder where all the different rubbers are manufactured? As this would make a difference in quality, as no doubt materials would be sourced from different regions/countries. I know that so many, in the US love Ettore, but I hated it so much, I wonder whether we have different manufacturers of the brand going to different countries. Would make an interesting study if that could be done. Anyway, just my experience with the rubbers. As you know, what works for me here, may not be useful elsewhere. Love your honest unbiased reviews Duncan.

      Hey Jade, Love those detailed comments. It seems that you've done the same experimentation on squeegee rubber with similar results to what I have seen. The weather, type of glass, plus the frames on the windows, all contribute to the wear and tear on the rubber. Glad you enjoyed the series.

    Good series Duncan, factors to consider I found is the temperature and humidity your working in and the types of glass your working with. There is the different compounds hard, medium and soft. In Melbourne during the warmer months we use hard rubbers and winter use the soft rubbers. I've used everything except wagtail black imo the best is Ettore and moerman hard rubber.

    • @McRaesWindowCleaning
      @McRaesWindowCleaning Před 2 lety

      Thank you, Mark, for those insightful comments. The weather does impact how the rubber works. My review of the Ettore Master rubber was during a very hot December 2020 and the great definitely had an effect. Hence, as I will state in the conclusion of this series, having a go-to rubber for a certain weather type may be the best way to go.

    Hey Duncan, great to find an Aussie window cleaner here on CZcams. I have my own window cleaning business here in Sydney and Most of my jobs are residential. I wanted to ask how you manage to finish a 5 bedroom home in 4hrs? I work by myself and that would be a full days work for me.

    • @McRaesWindowCleaning
      @McRaesWindowCleaning Před 2 lety

      Hi Daniel, Good question that you raise. Of course, there are double storey 5 bedroom homes and single storey five bedroom homes. How many windows have security and/or flyscreens? What type of glass has been fitted, plus any fancy colonial windows, will impact the time a home will take. But, on thing is sure, Daniel, and that is that you will get quicker and improve your efficiency as time goes by. Thanks for your comment

  • @davidhighmaintenance8875

    Hi Duncan. Nice review. Just a point about the brush being heavier =because you rinse with the brush on the glass on the down stroke, all the weight is on the glass, you don't need to lift off to rinse, therefore you're not straining your arms, shoulders and back. It's a different way of cleaning but far superior than the usual way of pure water window cleaning. Try the Radial Lite for regular maintenance cleans, it's lighter and faster, even over here in UK and Ireland.

    Hi Duncan, its certainly a relief to find a fellow Australian in the window cleaning game. I am based in Western Australia and am looking to start my own business as I have worked for somebody before but have no idea on how to charge the customers.. most of the videos I watch are American or English and the pricing doesn't seem relevant when converted to AUD.. was wondering if you could point me in the right direction so I could have a basis point to start quoting jobs? Kind Regards

    Hi Duncan, you could add in a 20 inch low pressure R/O filter and housing before your D/I .. save on resin, would get at least 2 years of running... TDS mains water depending.. David 👍

    Great review Duncan. Never tried the reach it brushes. I always use a high flow so that wouldn’t be a problem for me but with the way my shoulders are going with repetitive strain I’m trying to go lighter with my brushes but they do look very interesting

    • @McRaesWindowCleaning

      Thank you, Dave. I appreciate your comments. I'm finding that the higher water flow means less scrubbing and pressure having to be applied to the brush. Worth a try, but it's fairly expensive. Hope you're both doing okay. Must catch up...

    are these things tough to clip in? or will they wear out quickly if you switch them around too much? the reason I ask is that new drywalker flex has squeegee holsters I believe you could holster the whole fliq if you unclipped one end. but i duno how many times a day im going to want to be clipping and unclipping one end of a fliq pad just to holster it. ect.
