Buyers hankering after a lightweight 200hp John Deere that isn’t festooned with layers of complex technology have a new toy to consider - the 6M 185. Wheeled out for a so-called “soft launch” at this year’s Cereals event, details provided by the firm were a little thin. However, we know power output will be comparable to the plusher 6R 185, which delivers a max of 205hp plus 30hp boost.

I would give up my regular job in a heartbeat to go and farm full time but sadly in the USA , land is so expensive too and there are virtually no breaks or grants for new farmers . Jeremy touched on a very important point about those regulatins and how a supermarket can have product far cheaper than you can actually grow right there on the land. As a blacksmith, I see the very same thing, and all the Traditional Trades are dying as a result. Just the other day, I thought I might forge a hoe to use around the homestead here, and when I looked at the different types down at the hardware store, I was amazed that they could get a hoe made in the chicom territories, shipped halfway around the globe, to a store near me, and still have everyone making some profit.... for a final sale price of only $35. And there I am just up the road a few miles from that hardware store where I can't even buy the materials to make the hoe for $35. You might think that being a blacksmith is some "niche" industry, a "boutique" craft from some time long since passed, but that hoe I bought from the hardware store was just forged steel on a wooden handle. In other words, it was made by a blacksmith with a power hammer and grinder. I could make those very same pieces and sell them to the local customers through that hardware store... but there is absolutely no way I could compete with that price. So how is it that something can be made on the literal other side of the world, shipped all the way to my little town, and be sold for a pittance? Or, more importantly, what has been done at the local, state, and federal levels here in my country to make things so incredibly hostile to small businesses? If you think about the 2nd Order Effects, how many small businesses like mine and Jeremy's have been shut down over the last century because they simply cannot keep going? The products are still being made - just not here. The customers want the products, hence why you see them in the stores, but the small shops have been run out of town on a rail, burdened by ever increasing laws, regulations, policies, and taxes. Everyone talks about the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back, but never the million straws that came before it.
