Man, I can still remember the first time I heard Widowspeak - it was In the Pines and I was hooked on the spot! Widowspeak are definitely one of the best bands to come out of what I call the 'sweet spot' of the indie scene, where everyone wanted to be in an indie band - around 2007/2009-ish and 2013/2014ish. Saw them play twice back then when they came through my area. The first time before they hit the stage I saw a quite nice redhead sitting by herself writing something in a notebook and was thinking I should go chat her up but didn't. Turns out it was Katy Goodman from the Vivian Girls who Widowspeak was opening for. Haha, hindsight being what it is I should have chatted her up, would have made for a much better story! Also have a video on my computer from my GoPro stuck to the inside of my windshield when I was leaving Moab, Utah driving down Highway 128 with this CD playing. Perfect combination - an amazing chill drive on an incredible road listening to an incredibly chill and amazing CD. Still gives me goosebumps whenever I watch it. What a band, what an album.

So glad to see this band seem to be doing well and have gotten some much deserved recognition, one of my all time favorites!
