I felt like half a man
Matt is a suicide survivor, mental fitness facilitator, and humanitarian.
After suffering with depression and anxiety from the age of 12, Matt attempted suicide in 2016 - which in turn, left him wheelchair bound.
After sustaining his injury - Matt managed to shift his frame of mind completely and is now on a mission to instruct, inspire, influence and positively impact millions of people’s lives as a ‘mental fitness facilitator’.
Holding on to Hope shares the stories of everyday Australians that have experienced moments in crisis and found a path to support. Whilst all the stories shared offer hope and inspiration, at times you may hear something you find triggering. If you or someone you know needs crisis support, please phone Lifeline on 13 11 14, text 0477 13 11 14 or visit lifeline.org.au/gethelp for Lifeline Chat Service (24/7).

Life line in Australia is total crap. The people on there are not qualified at all and are useless
You guys are useless! I tried chatting and connect with you guys TWICE now and I get nothing! 24/7 service, my @$$!
You are a robot fool
I've had a history of depression. Now I'm possibly going to loose my job if I don't get the jab which I can't for religious reasons. Who should I call?
Me too bro I’am going through hard times with no job no life no family homeless thinking of killing myself now because it’s so hard when you don’t have someone to listen to your story and talk to you…💔😢😤😭
@@bobbyawaludeenyocku2819 I'm really sorry to hear how bad things are for you. I ended up loosing my job and had depression for a long time but things got better for me. My friends helped me and I work for them now. It can be hard finding like minded people but I promise they're out there. There are Facebook groups etc for support. I've had ups and downs throughout my life and when things are at their worse it feels like there is no hope, but eventually things get better. I encourage you to have hope and try to find someone local that can help or at least be a friend to you. Suicide isn't a solution. It takes away any possibility of life getting better and leaves pain for those that care. Don't give up. Keep fighting for a better tomorrow and when you feel you can't go on anymore, reach out to someone. I'm not sure what is available in your area but there are free counselling services in some places and if you're thinking about suicide it is worth trying counselling. Don't give up on getting a job either. It may take ages but I'm sure there's something out there. Please stay strong brother!
@@bluescorpion5954 Hi 👋 thanks for your Kind Words of Hope!🙏 am glad you are out of it and doing well for yourself now!God is good 🤲can you ask your friends for a job for me as well???because it’s very difficult for me here and I’am Homeless now don’t know how long will I survive on the streets before I kill myself.😏🙈Been trying to ask people for jobs but no one seems to be care…😏☹️😢
luv you Jess. well done for your bravery. x j
Why aren't crisis supporters qualified psychologists? Surely if someone is suicidal they ought to speak to a mental health professional.
She's nuttier than squirrel turds. I'm guessing she was the victim of abuse at some stage. Seems deep down a good person with good intentions but comes out bat shit crazy.
I find Jessica Rowe's face offensive. Can we ban it?
Thank you for sharing your story so candidly. You've provided a wonderful gift that I'm sure will resonate with many people, and those that love and support them.
The bitch with blue top sitting next to the dude I pick up some nasty energy from her. She seems to to be the kind her help is out of obligation and has no humanity.
Thank you for sharing your story with the world.
I just feel like dying just like some other people around the world everyday. Young people are having the worst times and some good times. I just need help please someone just help me.
What's your name? I also recommend Lifeline if can't talk to those closest to you: talk and share until someone or a group listens and shares with you how to cope from their perspectives. My advice is to seek out the positive instead of the negative because the positive can keep you smiling while the negative can keep you feeling drained.
I need help like urgently. I have talked to someone. I need to contact someone because I a. Worrying everyone about my problems. Please comment and leave an email for me to keep in contact with you lifeline.

very helpful
This is such a great clip and the words of Damien Leith's song 'Shine Like the Sun' fit so well. Good luck again with the campaign.
I like it
oh my gosh his gon yellow o.O
well at least the brits are getting on it. lord knows the us wont...
the song is Shine Like The Sun by Damien Leith.
What is the song?
I was in a play with him :)
What an awesome idea!!
Brilliant!

Omg if calls are going to be toll free I will jump for joy, literally.
He is more a ginger now, he needs to tone it.
@rskissack Thanks for your comment, we appreciate your feedback. We prepared this video as part of a focused Suicide Prevention Awareness campaign in response to revised statistics from the Australian Bureau of Statistics - which show suicide is the number one cause of death for Australians under the age of 44. This is quite a shocking statistic and it’s important that people hear about it. Lifeline cares about suicide among people of all ages and genders and we answer 1,250 phone calls a day.
While I'm not Australian, I very much appreciate your compassionate efforts. Respectfully, however, please consider this: those over 44 who have struggled with depression, (e.g., me), may listen to this and feel even worse! Three times you mention "under 44" in your 2 min 26 sec video - which leaves the impression, albeit unintended, that older people don't really matter to your organization. That was my immediate gut (vs. head) reaction, even if unfair. Thoughts?
Be nice if the UK took this issue as serious as you people. Instead of "pull yourself together" that's so very helpful when you're in dire straights.
@adaminsane Probably never. It will never stop because no body cares about men. The forgotten race, all of them.
More Guys Die from Suicide than Car Crashes!
Greatest video I have ever seen in all my days.
I have known many people who went through lifeline's telephone counselling training and gained very valuable skills. Good on you lifeline.
Great job Brendan, now frow it long enough so you can turn it into dreadlocks.... :-)
Haha nice one Brendan. I don't know what's more hilarious, the new hair or the fact that CZcams suggests a related video "Bleach Blonde Bimbo Hot Striptease"
most adds annoy me, but this one, i'm glad i saw.
I love this song and it suits the theme of the ad. But I have to get used to the music editing at 0:22 where the start of the song is joined to another part of the original song recording... It's a cute ad anyway.
Its Damien Leith - shine like the sun.. nice song anyway..
I didn't mention that this song is by Damien Leith. An original song that is on his 'Where We Land' Album. *ponders what stress down antics I can get up to on 24/7*
Wow! just a wonderful choice of song and singer for this terrific promotion. Good luck with it Lifeline, you do important work
Great video, fantastic song and such a worthy organisation.
