Babylon 5: Londo Cheers up Garabaldi
zhlédnutí 44KPřed 11 lety
S1E18: A Voice in the Wilderness (1): Londo Mollari cheers up Garabaldi. This is the kind of humor mixed with seriousness that make me enjoy the series so much.
Centaris can't drink H2O, viewers never notice pro station. Every background char has a full life story just the same. 1.44 blue guy, gambling debt revenge
Wait a minute...got cut off before the bartender said that drink needed to be paid for .... Londo skipped out leaving Garibaldi with the tab ;-)
Another scene from DS9 involving Quark and Garrick…right up there with this.
I wonder if the Dancer he was talking about was one of his wife's that he was getting a Divorce from in a later episode?
I think this was the one he kept. 😂
"Hey, he didn't pay for his drink." (knowing sigh) "That's okay, I've got it."
Londo has a story for everything Its amazing. you can see its his character to do so. Here you see he telling a story to Garibaldi in a very chill environment trying to cheer him up. He also tells the story of the winter flower to G'Kar on a very serious situation. such a great writing.
Loved both of these guys..so good at what they do..❤
Great scene but I think later on this is the wife he keeps when he is allowed to deforce two of his three wives.
At the beginning Londo was the funny comic relief character no one took seriously, but everyone liked. GKar was the rough dangerous one obsessed with revenge. And it was Londo who was Garibaldi's drinking buddy and friend. It was incredible the arc those characters all went on.
Yes it could be said that a major arc of Babylon 5 was the changes of Londo and G'kar and also their relationship to each other. Who could have really envisioned the last scene between them from he start!
You cut the best bit... Londo only did that to get a free drink!
Oh, Londo...you are a really tragic character, a guy who tried to do right by his people and his friends, while also being driven to commit terrible acts in the name of advancing your species..."My shoes are too tight, but it doesn't matter, because I've forgotten how to dance!" indeed :( He was truly well writen and well acted, he is in fact my favourite character on B5, next to G'Kar of course, then again I also like Bester (yes, he'd kill me without second thought, as I am "just a mundane" - still, I like Bester because he's complex, does what he believes is best for his people and makes no appologies for being ruthless to end!)
I am listening to a couple of Babylon5 podcasts, and from them was reminded that right after this cut ends Garibaldi finds out that Londo has stuck him with the check for his drink.
B5 and DS9 were my go to shows back in the 90's
Such range as an actor
And, of course, Garibaldi had to pay for Londo's drink.
Londo and G'Kar are both two of the greatest characters ever written
I LOVE Londo's accent :)
Apparently Peter Jurasik based it off of a neighbor he'd had as a kid, a man who'd been a court functionary in Tsarist Russia before the revolution. His native language, like most of the Tsar's court, was a heavily Russian-accented French.
And out of his 3 wife’s she was the only one he decided to keep even though she said she would never love him but she was the only one he could trust to be honest with him.
"You try to kiss me and I'll break your arm", lol. Rest in peace Jerry Doyle. So many actors from B5 have passed away... That series helped me get through a lot of tough times back in the days.
It did for many of us mate. Whenever I read the comments section on B5 it amazed me how many people say almost the same thing you did. It got me through a failed business and the loss of my house my car and my furniture, but by god not my VHS player lol. I would walk into blockbuster and straight to the B5 wall and rewatched the entire series over about 18 months or so. 👍
Yeah. Michael O'Hare's passing away was probably the most tragic one of all. He struggled through season 1, but JMS supported him all the way. I wish I could meet him one day. JMS seems like the nicest person. :')
Londo Molari... Any chance he can get Garibaldi to pay for his drink... 🤣 I miss how those characters interacted in this annoyed respect they had, but it went how it did and they both became closer to G'Kar than each other.
Mr. Gari Baldie!
3 days into a thus far stressful week, and this pops into my feed. Ah, Babylon 5. Good 👍 times ⏰… Londo & Garibaldi’s friendship was always fascinating to see.
This words from Londo can make you cry, when u feel sad...but also lifts u up. Fantastic scene, unforgettable
Mollari cheered Garibaldi up and then walked away and got Garibaldi to pay for his drink. 👋
I remember the first time I saw Mollari I thought “What? A race of clowns?” Lol. With that hair it was the first thing to come to mind. But as the show went on I realized that the Centauri were a brutally political people. They make Romulans look low key.
"Hey! Who's gonna pay for that!" Your cut is too short!
When lindo could laugh
One of my favorite scenes. Londo and Garabaldi had a very unique relationship. Love it!
*¡sadly the thespian Jerry Doyle (1956 - 2016 at 60 years old) died in real life! - but Babylon 5 lives for eternity* <-> 1:07 am Pacific Daylight Savings Time on Wednesday, 20 October 2021 Common Era or CE formerly known as Ano Domini or AD
Londo . A Weak Piss-pot at the beginning . Developed into someone to be reckoned with . Basically good at heart , but , caught up in his Absolute Loyalty to his Home and People . As anyone might be . Would have been IDEAL as Emperor without the Drakh in the picture . That story never got told properly . The ascension of Vir .
You cut off Londo leaving Garabaldi with the check.
Sad when you find out later, as his First Wife, he truly did love her but was forced to Divorce her by his family
Everytime I see Londo I think of Grandpa Munster.
You couldn't let the scene finish?! Londo didn't pay for his drink and the bartender stops Michael from leaving to have him pay for it!
And Londo left gerabaldi with the check
Praise be the Omnissiah...
Londo had his moments.
My dreams lived with the wife who taught me I could make dreams manifest for others, make them see my dreams in their eyes. Then she died, for no dreams of mine could make real a cure for the hunter made of her own flesh. I don't dream anymore. I don't make them real for others. I would love to find dreams again.
"How to rediscover dreams..." Nado mechtat. Or, courtesy of Google Translate: Надо мечтать.
How to save your wife from McGregor's syndrome without lowering your body to a subzero state?
After all these years, still brings a smile to my face.
Yep, me too…
Londo and G'Kar, their journey together through this series was incredible.
As badass as Londo could be, and as frurstrated with his people's fall from stature as they were in Season One..... Londo was a lot happier before Morden.
Well killing your wife tends to have that effect. Londo was an amazing character.
This just makes it even sadder to know Londo's fate. Btw, the impression and description of the dancer... sounds like Timov.
She was his 1st wife iirc , so that would track. She was also the most honest of them too I think. I remember the ep where he was given the 'gift' of divorce from all but one of his wives from the emperor and he chose the one that didn't suck up to him at all because with her he would 'always know where I stand'.
Actually no. Timov was wife 2. Londo's first wife was a dancer, but his family demanded that he get a divorce because she was below his station and rank
@@TomLuTon Where are you getting your information from? Is it in one of the B5 Novels dealing with Lando or the Centari?
@@DemondragonkinggavIn the B5 movie, "In the Beginning", Londo says that he has had 4 wives. This clip describes wife one
Londo was the BEST ! Character in just about every way yet also the most tragic character arch -
Was it the wife his parents made him divorced ? The anecdot is much sadder considering that
I think the show kept changing Londo's story. At one point he shows Vir a picture of his 3 wives. None of them was in the divorce episode!
@@zvimur probably made the picture before they'd cast the episode
@@Feasco No, Londo was forced to divorce the dancer by his family due to her low station. He then married Timov, Daggair and Mariel. then of course there is Adira whose death precipitated his plunge back into the alliance with the Shadows.
@@writinglife6244 You aren't disagreeing with Gnome. Zvi was just an idiot who was too stupid to realize the story wasn't changed. Those pictures were Timov, Daggair and Mariel, but not the actresses who would later play them in that episode.
@Writing Life Then Londo found out that Mr. Mordant was behind her death later on after realizing that being in league with the Shadows and that the current Emperor of Centari Prime was going to get them all killed. That is why he helped G'kar free his people and tried to poison the Emperor, but Vir was the one who poisoned the Emperor after Londo dropped by being punched. The Shadow Vessels that were on Centari Prime were destroyed by blowing the island that they were on. Most of the population on the island evacuated the previous night. A few stayed to make it look like nothing was out of the ordinary. And Londo had Mr. Mordant killed and his head on a pike in the Palace Garden which Vear waved at. (In a earlier episode, Mordant asked Vear what did he want and Vir did say he wanted to see Mordant's head on spike so he could wave at it since he didn't like him or trusted him. Funny that Vir got what he wanted and nothing bad happened to him. Others who got what they wished for from Mordant lived to regret it.)
CATS!
*Technocube to him.*
I think this was the first Babylon 5 clip I saw. Got me interested in the show. Terrible introduction for Londo, though.
